Ahh how time flies. Been 10 years into bird house and almost 5 years into processing. Been riding up and down for raw price since 2008

Back then the break even point was fast. Under 5-6 years. But for now, to think BE also nightmare with massive thieves around. ROI very subjective, 1 sample data not gonna sufficient to generalise the industry. You dont control bird house population. Factory however, is a production business particularly wholesales to china.

Bird house if if if if success, it is autopilot mode except biweekly maintainance or once a month if population not big.

I want to comment about white nest vs slight yellow nest. As a processor for 6 years myself.

White nest is very clean. There isnt much black spot inside the strain. The legs (yan jiao) is very thin also. So when we process, there is less yan jiao to be cut off. Generally white less total wastage will be 5-7% lower than slight yellow counterpart.

Slight yellow nest inside quite dirty. A piece of this raw sometimes weight about 14g, after process 8g. Can you imagine the wastage here.

If white raw is rm300 more expensive, i rather take the white nest.

For the first 3-4 years, I made less than BH per month. 4th to current 6th year, it is vice versa. I have 23 workers in local. Factory in kampung, so my cost is among the lowest.

Not fixed salary. Just salary per kg.

All my worker can do 1.5kg-4kg depending on their hardwork. Many part timer in Kampung area.

500g/day 9am to 12am? That is ridiculous working time.

My raw material is in separate room, only manager & me can access the room. Each worker will take 1 container consisting of 100g each. Depending on skill level. Some worker take up to 2 container. Workers are not allowed to go in the room to take raw nest ya. Each container taken will be recorded in their paybook for end month wages.
