Yes, 100% agreed and I was just sharing a second alternative for friends who are badly hit by the low price.

When time are good, we tend to choose the best as we have so much but bad time like now, we try to keep expenses to the min. like Rm200 Amp only.

Remember, we shall always share all what we have/know with friends here as we are in the same boat; good time, bad time and all time.

ps.  my BMW shall wait, too.hahaha
*
Luckily im used to low cost living. Back then itchy to change new car as well. But at current price, a RM200+K BMW need 2 years worth of harvest. laugh.gif

Buyers are coming almost weekly meaning that the demand of EBN esp. in China are getting better but the price remain low here.

What's about other area?
*
Still the same price here. I wonder how long else the price will recover. Back then, 10kgs RM45000. Now 10kgs rm12000. Huge drop yawn.gif

No choice except to increase nest count in order to offset the price decline. For those who harvest above 20kgs should be no problem. Below 3kgs is painful cry.gif

Lately this industry is so quite. Anyone know what happen to exports thing? How many companies can exactly export? 8 or 11?

But then these companies cannot process the whole country nests, probably they can only process their own bird nests. How about the rest? I guess probably will go through underwater again.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM talking about nest going underwater. It will only bring attention to this and that  may cause the end which will make everything far worse.
*
It is so normal. Everyone in the industry know this. Nobody can export legally. Knowing the fact doesnt cause the end of it. It makes thing better, not worse. Now we are in deep hole situation already. It makes no difference for telling the truth.

anything good in the budget for us?
*
Industry too small. No news for us.

Sigh. Just happened to know that most of my neighbor BHs, they pratice throw egg harvest. Over the last few years, we were the one who breed the young birds and let them fly away. They get more money and attract my baby swiflets like it is for free. Meanwhile i have to harvest only when the young bird learn to fly, less harvest and less money. I dont know what to say anymore. They can harvest 10 times per nest meanwhile i can only 4 times per year.

Better dont care much about the macro factors. Basically nothing you can do about it. Plus all these news has been providing us false hope....since 2 years ago.

I rather focus on micro factor like ensuring BN growth is stable.

Uncle WW,

The info that the buyer did not know how to grade IS DEFINITELY not correct. Lump sum RM 1200 - RM1600. Good grade A+ nests RM1800 though owner did not sell. Of course there are some Patahan in the Lump Sum deals and the price will reflect the composition. My personal opinion is price offered is above average. This auction is very good in my opinion.

Association can do a lot more to help boost prices and your suggestions should be taken up. The main problem is many big ranchers would rather have buyer come to their places and trade in private.
*
We got few more problems. The auction price is indeed good, but you need to know, there are not many willing to buy at that price. You can put Rm2000/kg, but no one is buying.

Jerry_ann  thank you for the update on the raw ebns. One collector trying to buy cheap offering about RM1500-1600 for my BC (with small qty of A) full cup nests. Its normal but if we keep our group members updated regularly we may not be short change that much .

Heard the prices may be going up. Anyone can share collectors contact either PM me or send to group. Thank you .
*
Rm1500-1600 dont sell. Now the super qingmao is above rm3300-3500. White big ab 2700-3000. Triangle now is rm2k already. Anything less than that, buy back from the agent see how is their reaction.

Like keropok, too much force will break very easy
*
Wrong liao like that. You need buy humidifier, for starter can get the Taiwan brand one. Forgot the price. RM3xx-rm4xx i think. The bird poop supposed to look wet wet. If humidity high, your harvest can increase 15-20%. Say your nest 140 piece =1kg. Maybe that 140pieces now become 1.1kg-1.2kg.

But becareful also. Too high humidity will cause the nest leg look yellowish, that is the sign of too high humidity. Fungus also a problem.

QUOTE(Bobby C @ Nov 3 2016, 03:14 PM)
Most nests even pure white after keeping for a while turn yellowish if keep inside box.

How do you keep it pure white?

Inside freezer or keep it outside/airy place?
*
Do not keep inside box. At least let it open. Depend on your nest thickness. If thin, just keep it dry. If thick like sarawak or thailand, then you really have to put in freezer. Not recommended. Better sell it else within 2-3months it will change color due to moisture inside the nest strand. Your points are correct about the future of this industry is going. Last time depressing price. Now the price is better but nothing to buy/sell. Here is Sarawak mostly drop in population. Consider lucky if can maintain.

How is your harvest in 2016?
Many in sarawak region drop 30-40% for 2016 including mine. Hopefully this year can recover.
