i always like to use example
football club is a business
business only can do well if you win something, qualify for UCL, win EPL
if every year also lie at 5th place and below:
how much money will be lost? lots of money right
then how long FSG will commit themselves? 10 yrs?
well u know that if u want to sell more jersey, sell more tickets
sell more seats, more people come to your stadium and admire our club
then we will be successful right
it is ok we can keep it that way, but slowly we will be like everton stoke city and even one day we will relegate to championship league?
why ? becoz we dun understand the rules of this league
need to keep up the competitive football.
ok u all may say i just want to have winning club
no, my club lose once in a while
doing badly once in a while i can accept it
but cannot accept it if we didnt win anything for 5 yrs and more
UCL is almost 7 8 yrs already
I'll indulge you awhile longer.
Football is indeed a business and we have every reason to be happy which is why I find your what you've just said every so naive. Do some reading and you'll note that it was during the 90's that we had our 'darkest days' since languishing in Div 2. We won only 3 trophies in a span of about a decade. If you had been supporting the club then, I'm pretty sure you'd have hung yourself judging by how overly dramatic you sound. Since then we've managed to challenge for the title and even win us a little shiny cup in Istanbul amidst other smaller shiny objects like the FA Cup.
Football is a business and we are years behind the likes of Man Utd. When they opened their arms to foreign investment, we wanted to keep the club local. We didn't work hard enough to secure large sponsorship deals and we didn't do anything to boost the commercial appeal of the club. Yes, we have a lot of catching up to do and it's going to take years, not months. Don't have the patience, bugger off. It's better for your health.
Football is a business and we're now debt free thanks to John Henry and his merry bunch. We've also secured huge sponsorship deals with Std Chartered and Warrior with some smaller ones on the side, especially in Asia. Just two days ago, my colleague in sponsorship got a call from LFC. We're also looking at a stadium expansion. We've also revised our wage bill.
Funny you should mention that football is a business and at the same time not realise what a healthy financial state we are in. Funny you question how long John Henry will commit himself when the man himself was quoted as saying that it will take time because he is looking at long term success. He's also advocated that he's adopting a strategy similar to the one he used when he first acquired the Red Sox, by buying younger players with greater re-sale value. Explains the signings of Carroll, Suarez, Henderson, Adam, and Enrique doesn't it?

Jonjo already here? He can play there rite? Im hoping that Kenny has his tactics which is one or two player has to do the defensive job. Maybe a centre midfielder can close down together. Not really assign to one man to do the job.
From what I know of Jonjo, he prefers to play further up the park which explains his goals for Blackpool and our ressies. Not seen much from him defensively really.
