I won't be surprised if Kenny brings another CM/DM next month. think we may need to at least make a loan to beef up the central mid. The fact that we recalled Jonjo shows we are a bit desperate here. This is not to say i don't trust Adam and Spearing, they deserve a chance to step up but we'll be in big trouble if either of those players get injured or suspended. Gerrard is still recuperating and one can only speculate how effective and how soon he will be able to return to match fitness. There's ofcourse Agger but as much as i love him as a player, he has a knack of getting himself injured whenever we need him the most.

We've taken a big risk offloading Aqualani and Mereiles, and playing Lucas week in week out. I don't think we should be taking any more chances especially when the good form has just about kicked in. We need to beef up the central mid.

Maybe he can make a good cover.....but the bad thing is he cant play passing game like lucas.....he will just bomb the ball upward whenever he received the ball.......the best choice still spearing though or maybe coady who play well during the pre-season?

I think many of us have forgotten that, even without Lucas, we've got Spearing, Adam, Henderson who can play CM/DM and Gerrard who is coming back (HOPEFULLY) within this month. Recalling Shelvey now is the correct timing because we don't have to worry about not having enough CM/DM now.

That's a terrible idea. Carra has also played defensive mid for England and his inability to distribute the ball was exploited by the opposition. I love Carra but he has no place in midfield, not in today's side anyway who builds from the back. If you consider how many passes Lucas has completed and the accuracy of his passing, the defensive mid role needs to be filled by someone who can distribute the ball from the back instead of booting it up the park.

I would really like to see Spearing in the first eleven because I felt he's impressed whenever he's been called upon and if he performs like he did against Everton each week, we have no reason to be worries. I see a little bit of Masch in him. He scampers across the pitch with endeavor and he's a fierce competitor. He's also Red through and through and I'm hoping his patience will reap dividens. He is already 23 and can hardly be considered young anymore given that Lucas is 24 and Adam is 25.

we still have Spearing and Adam. Attacking wise we have gerrard, shelvey and hendo. coady can be call to senior squad too as backup. though i reckon the club will still look to buy a DM this january.

I think he's aware of that. He meant no one else in the team can do what Lucas does for the team and thats a fair assessment.

actually i prefer if KD play agger in a defensive midfield position.

Adam play DM role?
Adam is not known for tackling and reading opponent move or breakdown opponent attacking play.

The void left by Lucas, is someone can tackle and break up opponent move, close down, and Lucas has done plenty of interception that breakdown opponent threat.

no adam for DM pls, adam is not discipline enough to pull off DM responsibility, there already few incidents adam did not track back to help with defending. i prefer spearing to replace lucas, or maybe share responsibilty between henderson and adam.

Not really. Defensive and tackling is not exactly Hendo's strenght. He always come 2nd best when chalengging for balls. Like others stated, closes one to replace js Spearing. Hes quite though for a shortie a local lad too. So his drive to succeed is probably more than anyone in the team. This is also his chance to show everyone he got what it takes.

Funny eh? Considering how lucas was booed by his own fans just a couple years back and become one of the most important player in the team now.
