sometimes, pumping the iso high high doesnt solve the problem of having bad lights/uncontrolled lights
*
and especially when the lighting is uneven too.
this is when the photog steps in and takes control ,tweaks, to get the perfect picture/exposure....... rclxms.gif

Feel like buying AFS 105mm 2.8, new or second hand? your view pls.
*
there are a few good copies out there, just how patient are you will determine if you can get a good deal, or a new one, also this lens is built like a tank, probably built to stand alot of abuse, and even if its used, it still performs immaculate...... biggrin.gif

one thing to note, the VR is alittle louder compared to other lenses, possibly the SWM motor is the extra heavy duty type or maybe mine is louder than normal..... flex.gif

good luck on your search......me not selling mine ! tongue.gif

Throw a grenade for ya...

Sure thing, if we look the current second hand price for 105mm 2.8g, its around 2.5k, the diff for a new copy (listed as 3.1k at shahinki), only meh 600, thats my dilemma. Leaning my decision towards New one at the moment.

A bit Too lazy to source for good used copy.

How much is new street price then? Shashinki price cannot follow one. Wonder got stock or not.
*
kaboom....after the dust settles, my 105mm still focuses as fast and as accurate as ever......hahaha! rclxms.gif

prices go from 2k-2.5k depending on your nego skills and also how desperate seller wants to sell
i think there's one on PM for sale now, sometimes mudah have some sellers. If you buy used, insist on box and warranty card, just to make sure you have a legit set.

New ones anything from 2.8k to 3.2k

i'm saving my grenade for you too.....waiting.... brows.gif

I tried pulling the converter from the charger but kinda fail, instead it is a bit loose...
*
why in the world would you wanto pull the converter out? i just pulled mine out for the 10th time, just plugged it back in and tight fit as usual......maybe your charger is a fake one!!!

QUOTE(MrAkay @ Jan 2 2012, 07:46 PM)
agreed. i think d7000 image quality can beat d300s already.
*
......provided you can get the d7000 settings, AF etc, to function correctly.......look at the many unhappy users complaining about problems they face, also d7000 had many new inoovations, possibly untested thoroughly, the d5100 rolled out later with some of the d7000 functions, and some system tweaking making it almost perfect, thats why its a hot seller now.....

yes on paper the d7000 has many more new features, new sensor and what not, but it boils down to when you take the picture.....
if half the time the d7000 doesn't focus right, with all the new technologies, it aint gonna cut it, i'd rather settle with the d300s anytime, at least i will get a 'perfectly' foucsed and exposed picture every time i click te shutter, yeah i came from the film days, so each click must be as perfect as possible......old habits die hard!! tongue.gif

from that statement, i am guessing u have never tried the D7000 yet?
*
tried it, yes, owned it, don't think so,
i prefer the d300s layout ,feel and AF system

You will be able to get D5100 with a RM3000 budget. D5100 is worth it over the D3100 just with the sensor itself... its one of the best crop sensors around today.

IMO, depends on ur budget and your future plan. As for me, im tend to get 2470 coz im planing to move to FX system sooner. But if your planing to stay in DX, 1755 is more than enough, since its the King of DX!!
*
same opinion here, plus the 2470 has more reach for candid shots, especially if he runs around alot, FoV would be similair for a portrait FL on the other end

tell the seller the serial number does not exist in nikon database and ask for an explanation.
btw, did you check the box that came with it? i know for a fact that SN of the lenses are printed on the box outside for reference

good luck

SN should be printed and have a bar code, similair to the UPC code below it and not hand written

looks like the original SN is below the sticker that has the handwritten SN on it.......

my 105mm VR micro doesn't have a SN sticker, it's laser engraved onto the lens mounting edge and can only be seen properly in an angle, other than that, the lens looks like it doesn't have any SN, now that's what i call PRO!

thats my point. actually there will be company trip to us in the corner. just want to check out is there any huge differents with our price.
basiclly cannot compare published price in the web, coz usually sellers tend to markup the price. Same as YL's published price in the web which is higher than price in their store.
But if the different cheaper for rm100-300 then its not worth it i guess..
*
B&H would be a good comparison for new prices, lens maybe you could get some warranty internationally, not sure, other stuff maybe worth it, ie. bags, tripods, etc there's also the factor that if you wanto sell it later, grey sets have to sell much lower compared to local ones.

if you can source for used goods from shops where you are heading to, would be a bonus.....
