i certainly see the value in rolex, but it doesn't bring a smile to my face.

The argument for Rolex is always valid.. no matter where in the world you are, not just Asia, Rolex is Rolex.. its the Ferrari of watches.

Personally I can't seem to justify paying >$5000 for a mass manufactured piece. And I feel mass manufactured ones have less character and soul to it, so I would steer towards vintages.. some guy could have the latest and greatest Rolex Sub, and you'd pop out with a Rolex red sub and win the day. No amount of money is gonna buy you this Rolex if nobody is selling it. I guess I like the feeling of being unique. lol.
*
I thought U're thinking of a preown Rolex Sub? Vintage pieces such as Red Sub are not cheap either.
vintage watches are great but they do cost a bit to maintain.. buy a 30-50yr old Rolex and still have to throw ~2K into servicing (oiling movement, changing all the gaskets.. no relume). the cost of Unique is expensive.

I read about a 1 man brand - Bernhard Zwinz.
only 11 pieces will be made, it comes with a price tag of 240,000 Francs or RM$810,150!

wanted something not so limited. try Roger Smith. his annual production is 10 pieces a yr.
Series 2 is priced at gbp$35K or rm$172,100.

Dornblueth & Sohn production also low at 120 pieces a yr.

In my opinion (doesn't mean much though), GP's full calendar moon phase has one of the most balanced and pleasing dials.
Thanks for pointers, Patryn33.

A singapore shop is selling at US$1.6K that is like 2X the price of 7608-1! if that is the case might as well get the Alpina watch that I had mention, it is also similar in design. look at post #450

Suggestions?

something auto and 3k is too general to suggest anything.

Hmm, okay . i know its rather vague .
Well ,
budget 3k for something auto
non-chain/ metal strap
looking for something sturdy
i like fancy watches
Couple of friends suggested oris, ball or tissot .. wanna ask what series/ or range should i look at ?
*
seeking well marketed brands or lesser known brands? with your budget cannot get a 7750 chrono movement from Oris/Ball/Tissot. by fancy I assme U like many sub dials.

lesser known brand can get something U can customize..
ie
a Guinand series 20, U can email watchmaker to customize hands or dial.
their 7750 are well decorated, unlike the well marketed Tissot/Oris if u wanted a display back
http://guinand-watch.com/index.php?option=...d=63&Itemid=181

next 2 brands don't allow customization but make great watches.

Steinhart is very well made watches too. unfortunately like Oris only the rotor is decorated.
http://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/chronographs.html

this is on sale, great value too, under 2K for a 7750.

if U like black.. here is a DLC watch at a great value.

worried about case getting scratch, get a ceramic case
http://www.ocean7watchco.com/cs2/index.php...&product_id=130

Pammy is the in thing, can afford a great rxw or from Dievas
http://www.rxw.jp/collection/poseidon/index.html
http://www.longislandwatch.com/Dievas/Dievas_Watches-4.htm

with oris U can get something like the below, but I don't think it is your style

can get a Louis Erard La sportive watch or a Longines conquest watch
http://www.timepiecestore.com/catalog/loui...a-sportive.html
http://www.timepiecestore.com/catalog/l3-6...-men-watch.html

if u can make it to SG, here is a pre-own watch.

wanna ask for opinion. is it worth to service a 2k tissot quartz watch? the dial suddently loose and sometimes it stopped then ketuk2 it moves again. if so, how much usually it cost?

the watch is more than 5 years already...
*
dial loose? it is the face, the face don't move, the hands move. so what is loose?
since it is quartz when is the last time U change battery?

dear all, one quick question on buying watch online in thewatchery.com site. in the shipping what shall i choose?
there are:
1. Ground Free
2. UPS - 3rd day -usd 14
3. ups - 2nd day - usd 5

Which should i choose?
*
That only applies to domestic US shipping. That does not apply to international shipping.
international is US$40, read the below

how's the warranty ? is it covered internationally ? i do like this watch CAG7010.FT6013 .. far cheaper than authorized dealer
*
warranty is supplied by thewatchery, anything U have to send your watch back to them.
quartz watch, no worries with watch breaking due to manufacturing defects. I don't see U claiming warranty.
most ppl claim warranty with auto, with watch running too fast or slow.
