Tag, Zenith & Omega for the first real watch and introduction to the world of horology
Panerai, IWC  for the up and coming executive in his 20s
Rolex, Corum & JLC  for 30s... you starting to make a name for yourself...
Audemars, A Sange Lohne, Richard Mille for 40s... for the appreciation of finer things in life...
Patek to die to the grave (cause we'll all be old fogies by he time we can afford these...and grand kids these days don't deserve such fine inheritance)
*
few will get a Zenith for their 1st real watch.
The price of Zenith is close to IWC, most ppl rather go with a IWC for that matter as their 1st watch.
Corum? for the 30s... really subjective.
if can afford AP, RM can afford PP already, no need to die to grave. U are just too brain wash by the ads imho.

perhaps u didnt read properly.
i said water resistant, not water proof.
brands like hirsch make water resistant straps up to 100m...regardless of the depth rating it also makes it sweat resistant.

and yes, i have a hirsch water resistant leather strap.
*
true, iirc 1 company makes those rated to 200 or 300m. don't remember the name.

another company that sell those sweat\100m water resistance band is Di-Modell Germany

umm lists for rm230.
hirsch grand duke.
no pics of it with a watch, cos i got no more 22mm lug ones...so the strap is just lying idle waiting for new home tongue.gif
*
expensive! get online cheaper.

Hirsch Carbon Sport 100m Waterproof and Hirsch Mariner Waterproof are also nicely priced.

yes  i didn't read properly.

what the difference as far as leather straps are concerned? another thing i don't comprehend is the water resistant rating. so what if i wear my watch of 300m with a leather strap of 100m to a depth of 150m. will the strap break and disintegrate at that depth?
*
water resistance is tested on calm waters, watches rated at X can get water into watch reaching the depth. The watch will not self destruct or vaporize into the water going beyond the rated value.

like wise for leather band, however if U choose to go beyond the rated value U are at your own risk. U can test it out and let us know.

get a anonimo strap, u can wear it down to 300m

Some of you will know from my recent online chat with the CW Forum, that we intend to bring together the c5 and c3 models into a new 39mm case as well as introducing some fantastic new dial colours.

However, as a valued supporter of the brand I wanted to give you an opportunity to snaffle one of the last few remaining 38mm galvanic dial watches by giving you an EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW until they go “live” on the site on Monday.

I'm looking for watch that have the luminance that can glow for very long time,  like Ball and luminox watch?
Any other brand to recommend? And what does the luminance that can last so long called? Gas filled lume?

BTW, saw Getat in this few pages, does its super lume same as like Ball luminance?
*
Getat isn't using tritium, so U will not Ball like lume.
tritium watches swiss made auto - Ball watch, Christopher Ward certain collection, Frederique Constant certain collection
tritium watches quartz - luminox, Uzi H3, Traser etc

I actually haven't heard of Xetum and Guinand.

Not really into watch.

Only heard of Rolex, Breitling and the typical famous ones.

I'm here to get to know more brands with quality as good as the famous ones.

And also get a watch with reasonable prices.

That's why I'm asking for recommendations.

And correction, I'm actually looking for leather bracelet strap not the two piece type.
*
typical famous ones, one would have to pay more to help them pay their marketing cost. Unfortunately they don't come free.

Swatch group supplies alot of movement to the typical famous brands, unfortunately Rolex made their own watch from the ground up.
Breitling like many others (Tag Heuer, Omega) use mainly ETA movement.
http://www.breitlingsource.com/movements_calibers.shtml

so not famous ones such as Xetum and Guinand also uses such movements. of course they come in different grades, nonetheless they are great work horse. ie if U have heard of Sinn, Bell and Ross, google Guinand with these names and you may find a link.

what is 2 piece type?
