Means brands such as Sinn, Bell, Ross and Guinand may help me find a watch within 2k to 3k?

2 piece type means the normal leather strap where one ends goes into another. Sorry not really good in explaining.

Basically, what I'm looking for is like this one - http://www.breitlingsource.com/strap_oceanracer.shtml
*
I never meant the above in red.
what I mean is simple go on google and search "Sinn Guinand Bell and Ross" and see what pops up!
next have you heard of Sinn or Bell and Ross else the above it is moo point.

U looking for such strap? it will be hard to find in your budget, u have to get a watch and locate a 3rd party that fits. Note some company make life difficult for you, if the lug size is odd U will have a hard time finding 3rd part band, will have to custom make and that is not cheap.

Longines HydroConquest Automatic Chronograph is a great watch but it retails at ~6K! 2X your working budget.

I understand and you made a point.

Yesterday was in Malacca and I saw a watch by Oris.

4.3k but didn't really ask the SA to take it out.

Oris is German or Swiss?

And as for choosing the style, I'm not sure what's the difference between chrono, divers and etc.

I only see that they are different in design as well as more "meters" which I don't know how to read.

But I'm just looking for something like the ones I posted (the links).
*
Oris is swiss, using ETA or sellita movements. Cases/brancelets are China made.

chrono, diver, pilot difference hmm.

chrono is a complications. For more complications read below.
http://www.moraysjewelers.com/timepiece-complications.htm

Diver, Pilot are watches design for a specific use.
Divers usually have 200m water resistance and a bezel that only turns anticlockwise to keep track of dive times.
Pilot watches since they are not going anywhere near water they are generally 30-100m water resistance.

what do you by the above in bold?

Tissot,oris,seiko.victorix,longines,ball n Maurice lacroix price range from 2k - 10k

Omega,tag,B&R,Tudor,rolex,panerai,IWC n many more price range from 10k - 50k
*
2-10K range is super wide.
he was looking at 2-3k range chrono.
with that only these choices if he only wants to get in a brick and mortar store

Tissot, Seiko, maybe Victorinox.

Oris's cases and bracelets are china made?

Is it durable / good? no offence to anyone but its China made. Sorry in advance if i offended anyone.

Omega Seamaster Quartz and Omega Quartz is leather or steel?

and price difference for both of the Omegas?
*
leather quality of oris isn't good. I own a oris.

Omega quartz? no this line

Omega seamaster is Steel. its seamaster - diver watch.
only 1 company make diver watch with leather.

how about their casing?

check lug size, different design different size.

their steel case is alright, finishing may not be great but after a few knocks on even the most expensive PP also same same. LOL

LOL. If it is possible to change the leather strap then I don't mind and as long as the case is not too "fragile" then it's also okay.

But will consider others as well.

Omega Seamaster is really nice. but price wise is expensive!

get a homage to it!

Wow. Can Omega Seamaster change its strap to leather? Haha.
*
U can change strap to anything on any brands as long as U can find a fit!

GMT is 2nd timezone, it runs on ETA 2893-2 whereas no GMT runs on ETA 2824 or its clone.
2893 only comes in Elabore grade, 2824 I believe CW only carry standard grade

whats the difference with jewel? still noob in watch world  hmm.gif

Added on September 2, 2012, 7:29 pmbtw, is it normal that it's a bit annoying adjusting the date? i need to scroll clockwise many times to move the date and it doesn't allow anti-clockwise/backwards?

if i passed the date then i need to scroll all over again
*
more jewel typically means better movement, not ways. note due to that ETA 251 also cost more about double the price.

Certina DS First Chronograph not marketed well, price is not much higher that aud$470.
for about ~aud$680 can get a uhr.info with ETA 7750.

read about G10
http://forums.watchuseek.com/f6/problem-et...1-a-499765.html

lucky G10 is cheap at ~usd$60, faulty just replace

do you think oris is way better than tissot? i like their models but it cost about $2k
*
U cannot alter the function. you can change a movement to allow that, or simply get a different watch.

Oris don't make any quartz watch, but their mechanical watches does uses the most reliable entry level work horse.
Tissot on the other hand, is part of swatch group has access to cheaper mechanical movement, not as reliable but prices it can't be beat.
iirc I recall reading somewhere that Swatch sells its movement at 4X the price to brands outside the group.

A 3k to 4k range for Oris watch contains how many jewels?
*
you budget only can touch those on ETA 2824/2836 or SW 200/220. see which model u like then ask if can change or not. as for how many jewels depends either 21 or 26.
http://www.authenticwatches.com/oris.html

U should read this Oris forum
http://www.friendsoforis.com/forum/index.p...elita-movement/

U should really google on the above in red.

the cheapest Tag is their F1, prices are ~3k and up. furthermore they are all quartz. F1 is like their fashion watch. every 2-3yr change design.

U can try mido too

do read page 1 post 1, I am sure there is link that ans this qns.
remember automatic/self-winding only works if U hands move. some movement uni-directional some bi-directional.
sit in office on a keyboard is not going to wind it too much, U may need to hand wind it

some of the houses are subjective...

For eg Zenith has some models that will fall into the category that is on par with some of omega time pieces...
saying that Omega has pieces way into the 6-digit price tags also...
brows.gif

same can be said with IWC which has RM14k new watches which is comfortably into Omega territory...

ORIS has RM20k watches also i believe...
*
well, look at the context here.. the table is a few yrs back plus it talks about starting prices of their entry level watches.
omega and zenith both have tourbillion. Zenith price has come down to capture markets. omegas although prices has gone up for their flagship collection entry level prices hasn't really change too much from other brands.

so when u say oris has 20k watch kinda irrelevant here to begin with.

Then judge if its worth the risk of package getting lost or stolen along the way.

legit company will insure it, stolen or lost you are covered. why save $$ getting it shipped uninsured? LOL

That's why i wanna ask if someone purchase it through that website before. This is the first time i buy watch therefore maybe some stupid questions are being asked. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

best deal if U can get it from LVMH sale!

usually there is a sale in Fall and spring sales in States and prices are at 50% off; they still come with factory warranty

I have bought on Ashford b4 and they are legit still can bargain. see what local AD can get U and fight for addition 10-20% on grey dealers.
