I see. Thanks bro for the info.

Normally, how much discount can I get? From my survey, I managed to get 10-20% only for Tag Heuer watches .. Seems just a normal deal where can get the same discount every where.
*
discount are well controlled by Tag, if U like more the only option is grey.

to some its fashion, but to some, the TH-F1 series is collection of its own.  I guess this line must be bringing in good money for TH.

Not asking him to must keep up with trend but to be aware of what's around the corner so that there's no buyers remorse
*
fact: it is cheapest Tag, cheapest way to own and tag and perhaps flaunt it.
fact: F1 Series is a collection of it own, but I have not come across anyone that collect F1 series.
I have to agree with u with regards to buyer's remorse 3-5yrs down the road. so out dated that it may fetch only 20% of it last known price.

....if that's not a collection, i don't know what it is... doh.gif ..so you may need to change your fact... smile.gif

Different people different strokes..while some of us may detest the idea of collecting quartz F-1s, there are those who will ....after few years in this hobby, i am open to seeing all sorts of collection themes....

To me, buyers remorse is not about a design becoming outdated.  Its when buying without doing homework or buying on impulse.  And after slashing the credit card, realizes there is another one out there which you like better or coming soon...My 2 cents is if one actually buy after much consideration, reading, thinking, I doubt the owner will ever see his watch as `outdated' few years down the road and wanna sell it off cheaply......
I am not changing the fact, U fail to read my sentence correctly. my fact ends at the "comma".
With regards to the collector, I must say wow... I must have admit ppl sure collect all kinds of things out there.

again like collecting u mention earlier I learnt my lesson. Never doubt what ppl may do. I have seen ppl selling bags, belts, shoes cause it is dated, why not watches! ppl on timezone/WUS flip watches for many reasons

ignore him ler.. say like watch expert but goreng the facts until so crazy.. my tag aquaracer chrono already 3years old, retail 10k (of coz i bought with super discout) still can force sale for 5k cash..  dunno where he pluck the 20% resale figure out..
*
if u can find a carrot to chop and claim such high price sure.
and the word u used here is force sale, not many ppl can force ppl to buy something.
the next thing its a aquaracer chrono not a F1. if I am not wrong thats a mechanical while F1 are generally quartz. thats apple to oranges.
it is known fact mechanical generally has better resale value.

I better ignore u.

What is the difference between mechanical and quartz watch? Why mechanical has higher resale value?

I am buying a watch for my wedding but budget is just rm3k...at the moment, i am thinking of tag heuer formula 1 collection.. Do u hv any recommendation?
*
quartz watches lack of the soul and attention of the watchmaker.
quartz movement is many times cheaper to manufacture than mechanical, servicing of mechanical cost more and takes longer time.
for a water resistance watch, if a quartz get wet, you need to replace movement.
mechanical, just a regular service will do.

with RM$3k, I would go for a Epos or RGM.
RGM equation of time is a special complication not easily found in watches (chronometer) limited edition of 50.

Their new Aquaracer series are retailing around RM5000-RM6000. Generic movements , and you can get a good discount from AD .
Its Okayyyy what . C'mon , there MANY other brands who "upgrade" their ETA movement and charge 4 times the price .
there are also many brands that did not upgrade the ETA movement and charge 4X less the price of a Tag.

Im actually planning to get a meistersinger N01 but i cut find in anywhere in malaysia and the closest i can get is in Singapore which i have no means to go so I'm looking into Maurice Lacroix and Frederique Constant.. Can i know which is a better brand/watchmaker. How to they stand in popularity and value (pls don't include their top of the range watches) More interested in Maurice's les classiques and Frederique's runabout/classics/index collections.. Please do advice and recommend other brands of similar price tags and models if any..
Budget - Around RM4k, appreciate if its lower
Style - Chronograph with leather strap, Diameter of 40mm and more
Movement - Prefer automatic, would not mind quartz if the price is low

at 4k and less for auto, only can go with online brand else quartz is the way to go. price wouldn't be that low as ML and FC has paid their dues in marketing.

Guinand is great value, online is the only way. didn't like the pricing of Sinn, Helmut Sinn come of retirement to give customers high quality watches at a very affordable price.

Thanks ck77...the bulova is from their 'Adventure' series. They're not swiss, are they? Probably chinese mvmt I guess...not very sure. Only know it looks good smile.gif

Do check out the Golana...pretty impressive esp for its price range.
http://www.golana.eu.

I'm eyeing the AE300.1 from their aero series.

Or my 3rd option is the Orient Mako...which I think would be the most reliable and reputable among the three....but can't decide between blue or black dials.
Golana has QC issues in the past, the crystal do scratch easily even they claim it is sapphire coated. Lume is poor.
bulova - Miyota (Citizen)

other options - top up more $$ go for UHR or other brands but righ now Orient Mako is the best choice.

Have been reading through the thread but cannot seem to find any discussion on what are some of the recommended watches for ladies. I am thinking of buying a watch for my wife and my budget is around RM5-7k. She is 38 and has a couple of nice watches. Her daily wear is a Dior Malice.

No requirements on quartz or automatic. She seems to like watches like Baume & Mercier Hampton.....clean looking watches. I also think she has a thing for rose gold watches.

Any suggestions on what to get for her?

I have to agree Baume & Mercier, Ebel, FC and Longines make nice ladies watches

7k is hard to find solid rose gold.

I'm looking to get a piece of watch that's reliable and durable enough to last me a while. It doesn't matter if its a mechanical or quartz....just as long as its able to keep decently accurate time.

However I'd prefer (not a must) to have these:
- sapphire crystal (eveb better with AR)
- min 44mm diameter
- day & date display
- min 10atm WR
- great lume

I've been eyeing the Luminox 1879 Black Out but haven't much clue about them apart from the mixed reviews gathered from the internet. But I gotta say they seem pretty okay from the specs ...plus they claimed to be built as 'tough as nails'...and I really like the fact that the lume is definitely not gonna be a problem. But what would be your thoughts on the Luminox? And does anyone know roughly how much this model costs?

Well, apart from this, I'm sure there are many other brands/models worth considering when I'm looking to get the most out of RM1.5K - 2K.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys...looking fwd to your inputs...thanks!!

lowest price online. local generally cost more. It is pvd so not going to tough as nails, DLC coated is harder.

Some of my preference is listed as below:
1) must be automatic type (not going for quart)
2) prefer plain design but will consider chronograph design if its look attractive enough
3) must be stainless steel strap (not going for leather / plastic)
4) swiss made
