Guys, need some favours. I'm hunting a watch for my gf's coming birthday. My budget is around RM300-rm500, prefer dialogue watch. No G-shock etc. Designer brand are ok like Lacoste or Marc Jacobs. Any good bargain around these days?

Browse the last few pages of the thread, there was a similar question posted. Seiko, Orient etc can be considered. Fashion watch, sorry not really into those here, probably you check the malls.

Can't imagine wearing a watch with leather strap in Malaysia, the sweat will probably kill the strap in less than a year.

Probably nothing much you can do to salvage it, just get a new one. Many reputable brands now offer sweat and water resistant leather straps e.g. Hirsch, Di Modell, Hadley Roma etc.

You may also consider replacing it with a rubber strap, way more suitable for active wear.

Ordered a Hirsch double deployant clasp to go with the Speedy biggrin.gif

Still considering whether to get their caoutchouc (rubber) band for the SMPC. Looks great but doesn't come cheap...

+1 on the WUS Omega forum.

There is also a lot of info on the Speedy written by the late Chuck Maddox who was a chronograph fanatic.

Edit: CK beat me to posting it biggrin.gif

I should have added YMMV smile.gif

Currently all but one of my daily watches are on leather straps.

low in price, high in quality  blink.gif

but the swiss watch have nicer design.
think u should list out which brand and which model you looking for .

Looks are subjective. If you think Swiss brands (didn't specify which brand/model) look nicer then just go for it.

You can try to get a Sea-gull  biggrin.gif

You mean something like this? http://usseagull.com/EnProductShow.asp?ClassID=83&ID=120

That piece costs USD7k by the way.

The red hand is the 2nd time zone. If you don't need a 2nd time zone, you can set it to the same as the main hour hand, turning it into a AM/PM indicator.

Good idea! didnt think of that...

although it would be kinda redundant seeing AM/PM's gonna be pretty easy to differentiate by looking out the window... but good idea nontheless!  nod.gif

There is another use for the day/night indicator - for setting the date on a mechanical watch. The rule of thumb is not to change the date when the time is between 10pm - 2am, or it may damage the gears in the movement.

The point is mechanical watches will stop running if you don't wind them (manual or automatic). More often than not you have no idea whether the time is AM/PM on an unwound (stopped) watch. This is where the 2nd time zone will be handy.

I'm surprised you haven't looked it up in TZ yet laugh.gif

Yup was referring to quick set date all along, how else would you change the date without advancing the time?

I didn't say my watch has dual time feature, I was merely stating that having a 2nd time zone would be helpful when you need to set the date on a watch.

Based on my experience (around 6 watches and numerous other items shipped from abroad) Pos Malaysia is quite reliable. No lost or delayed items before. Watches are tax free so customs shouldn't be an issue.

What is the discount like if you had asked for a receipt?

I suppose if the warranty card is intact there should be no issues. The sales receipt is usually a backup (e.g. in case you lost the warranty card).

Not worth it to me, but accuracy is hardly one of my top priorities.

The 2k can also be relative. 10k vs 12k, or 3k vs 5k? Makes quite the difference.

Ace is the Omega forum AD on WUS. I sent some enquiries before but never purchased anything from them.

Watches are tax free in Malaysia. If I bought something that cost that much, I would worry more about the item being lost in the mail than getting taxed at customs.

Pre-owned 2500 POs can be found at around 7 to 8k.

Your watch is only 2.5 years old since you bought it? Should not need any service unless the timekeeping is affected. I try to stand by the saying 'don't fix anything unless it's broken' biggrin.gif

^No one can say for sure whether the item is genuine or not, except the seller. Check the seller's ebay feedback, the items he/she has sold, and take note of the description and photos.

If you feel confident then go ahead. If any problems you can file a dispute with ebay, they tend to stand on the side of the buyer.

You mean date and GMT complication..? I feel the same too, pricing on the high side for a Tag. Looks pretty cool nonetheless smile.gif
