^I've seen one of the Aviator models being sold on MAS inflight shopping. Search on the net shows that it's a Russian brand, owned by Volmax. http://aviatorwatch.ru/Apparently they outsourced the manufacturing to a UK company. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f67/review-av...ost3579837.html

^Don't think you can get an MM homage from local dealers, unless it's the real thing. Closest is maybe Singapore where you can find Aristo/Dievas from Gnomon.

^That's hardly a dilemma. My dilemma is I lack funds to purchase my grail watch Go for the IWC. Graham is not worth the money IMO.

Interesting to see the bulk of Swiss watches going to the HK market. The Chinese must be spending millions on watches there.

QUOTE(hanz079 @ Oct 26 2012, 05:12 PM) If chinese spend on luxury goods in China, got luxury tax, so they go to HK to spend. HK has always been a top consumer of luxury goods be it designer bags or high end watches. I get the luxury tax part, having being based in China for a couple years now. But double that of the US? Also Japan, one of the top markets for luxury goods, is not even in there. I guess Seiko/Citizen/Casio must be doing a great job in their home market. QUOTE(Kaka23 @ Oct 26 2012, 05:28 PM) Amazing.. such a small country can beat US and China mainland! Eye opener for me... Technically HK is part of China...

Just making a guess here: CK gets better ad space probably because of the brand popularity. Ask people on the street and most would have heard of CK but not Mido, Hamilton etc. To the non-WIS fashion watches still represent a certain degree of prestige. A brother of a friend is working for Swatch Group, I wonder how much staff discount they get

Haven't got anything new in some time and budget is tight with new commitments coming up, so I got this:
My second Nighthawk, this time in black with SS bracelet.

^I suppose the argument is similar to people who have never dived in their life wearing dive watches.
An iphone would be more pragmatic than a slide rule, so I've never bothered learning all the functions. Unless of course I get straneded on an island and need to do something Macgyver-esque.

There may be investment value in that piece. But 13k? Better be made of solid gold with diamond encrusted caseback.
