Scions have manuals. I am a kaki manual, and all the cars I've ever owned are manuals. From my first car (Mazda RX-8) to my last (Honda S2000), they were all manuals.

When I first met my wife, she got very interested in my obsession with manuals (maybe because I would not shut up about the shittiness of automatics), so she changed her car to a Scion xA manual (from an Oldsmobile Alero V6). Hence how she ended up with a manual.

But you're right, most Americans spit on the manual. I think the statistic was that only 1.8% of all cars in America were manuals?

Cars here are expensive lah.

Over there an RX-8 cost me about RM60,000, and the S2000 also the same. So ridiculously cheap. Even cheaper, my MazdaSpeed6 cost me about RM15,000 with RX-8 as a trade in.

RM60,000 is about the price of a Myvi Extreme 1.5 auto here.

So not much choice. Plus I think the Myvi Extreme 1.5 is very representative of my current financial situation here (entry level executive).

Plus on top of that, when I get my Subaru BR-Z (I WANT ONE SO BADDDD), my wife can take the Myvi. biggrin.gif

but u can get a rx-8 here for about rm90k..but 2nd hand of course..but owning a rx-8 here definitely going to rise up ur monthly expenses on fuel+car maintenance comparing to the myvi...but during your time at the states, the fuel cost there is more higher than here right?..

Fuel cost was higher yes. About US$3.00 per gallon, so about RM2.25 per liter?

And yeah, the reason I traded in my RX-8 was because the transmission and engine were about to go. I raced almost every two weeks for about 3 years with it. Track days, time attack, autocross, drift...

I'm a sane person. If I can't afford a sports car in Malaysia, I know how to be content with a Myvi. And it's all okay.

I wanna work my way up to afford nicer rides anyway. A Myvi is a good entry level car (it was between the Myvi and Inspira, but my mother will NEVER let a Proton sit in our house's driveway).

I like the Myvi anyway. 1.5L, 2300lbs..., why not? It's a good car to learn to drive a slow car fast. And that's what's important to me. I prefer lightweight agile cars. Luxury and the badge are all secondary.

im assuming the cost for total engine complete built up there will be around the same price like here right?..around RM12-15k??..

True, true driving a myvi have its own diffrent feel...lighter,more agile and easy to handle (if have made the necessary modification to it la..if not, quite dangerous with stock rim, suspension and brake power)

It was about US$3000 for a new engine. Then you add in labor...about 2 days worth. Easily US$3000 extra on top. Damn Americans cost a lot for labor.

So total US$6000, or RM18,000.

Might as well trade in for a new car lah (MazdaSpeed6 was RM15,000, so I already saved RM3000).

I fully intend to deck my Myvi out with UltraRacing bars.

Got my SE 1.5 auto already. White color.

Rawang - Alor Setar average 110-120 km/h ; 14 km/l base on actual usage of petrol.
