For BlackBerry 9780, maybe is no longer strange to you It is an upgraded version of the BlackBerry 9700. From July, the exposure of this mysterious type is increasing, which explains a problem that it is getting closer and closer to us. Recently, there is news that Canada’s second-largest telecommunications operator TELUS has already started preparing for the listing of the new machine. BlackBerry 9780 and 9700 is similar in appearance. The reason why RIM re-launch this classic model maybe is that they want to make some of its upgrade. The BlackBerry 9780 might will use the new BlackBerry OS 6.0 operating system, CPU frequency to 624MHz, a 2.4-inch screen, resolution 480 × 360 pixels remains, the back carrying a 5 million pixel camera, with LED flash, memory of 512MB (RAM), built-in Wi-Fi and GPS navigation chip. There is information before that the BlackBerry 9780 supports 32GB of micro SD card expansion.

Upgrading Procedure for an Official OS release is as follows:
1. Download the OS and install it on your PC. (Make sure you have already removed any older OSes you have installed on your PC by going to Add / Remove Programs in Control Panel)
2. Delete the vendor.xml file (located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader)
3. Backup your 3rd party applications ( optional recommended step )
4. Connect your BlackBerry to your PC and right click on a file named Loader (located in the same place where you found the vendor.xml > C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader.exe) and select '' Run As Administrator ''
5. Follow the prompts and make sure you select the languages and applications you wish to be installed. The Loader will backup and restore your data by default.
Still Having Issues !!? I would recommend using BBSAK to Upgrade, so
- Uninstall the OS(s) you already have installed on your PC - Delete the folder (research in motion) in ( c: \program files\common files\research in motion ) - Restart your PC
Hey guys, I have a problem connecting to BIS over wifi network. It doesn't work at all as I can't get access into anythng when I'm on wifi, which makes the wifi function useless. I'm using an ap unlocked 9780. And turned off data on mobile network during wifi connection. Any solution for that? The BIS logo doesn't apper beside the wifi logo as well. Hmmm.

You must have the service books for BIS... Which means, you must have connected to mobile network BIS before, at least once. If you never used any mobile BIS plan before, with wifi you can only surf, the bis logo won't appear.

What can I say, the effect is noticeable and the transition effects of themes is smoother and natural. You can notice the speed when you open the Media > Pictures folder, the pics loads up fast and opening is fast too.
I can finally notice the 'inertial scrolling' in UberSocial, but not sure am I just paranoid or it's the app which helped. Overall I feel no lagging after installing, though sometimes minor hourglass will still pop up (common for OS6).
For RM3.15, it's really good for me. But not sure will you guys notice the difference or not.

How to install it? I have downloaded, after Extract, there is a folder.
install with bbsak.. bbsak can wipe ur device, install theme, apps and much more.. download bbsak for ur cmptr.. ~ install bbsak, connect ur device to cmptr then run bbsak.. ~ after ur device alrdy connect with bbsak ~ click 'Modify CODs' ~ choose Install JAD ~ browse to folder that you ectracted.. open that folder then click JAD file

my advice, u better opt for 9790 or 9900. the 9900 already released few months back while the NEW facelift for 9780, called as 9790 will be available in Malaysia soon, i mean, reeeeaallllyyy soon. its up to u to decide tho.

The new 9790 does look like same as 9780. In term of battery performance, 9780 slightly better than 9790. Personally, I will hold my 9780 until there is new look from bold series.

Is it only applicable on BES?
It should be in your email messages app (the @gmail/hotmail etc icon instead of the combined message inbox). Open that and filter is inside there. Only OS7 have the extra email functions in combined message inbox... Sigh

Totally wipe it via bbsak
Restore back using app loader with the new firmware ( made selection to any apps and tools i don't want to use )
Then finish restore back bbm groups and contact

When I insert the battery the red led start up with the normal boot indicator then it stays on with a empty battery sign with a red cross over it.

T-Mobile set is as good as AT&T set , those are oversea set..

is it really 1.5GB per month for maxis. cos i used maxis before, only 100mb provided for BIS plan rm20+... after that keep on deducting my credit... plus can't load all the website freely (certain website only), if not will deduct credit straight away eventho not reach quota yet... luckily i call them and they refund my credit, but still for me not worth...

i dont know, sometimes carrier will help u faster. like my previous 9780. go to brightstar they said need to take 2 weeks minimum, go to sunway they said 3 working days. i tried maxis and really after 3 working days, the vendor called me to give new 9780

that is the problem.. then.. you can refer to brightstar .. because although it is maxis set.. you are not buying directly from them[maxis] .. as we know, to buy maxis phone at special price, only maxis user can get it..

I need to clarify to you guys again, the 100MB quota for MAXIS BIS BONUS RM20 prepaid is NOT applicable under BIS, e.g. UNLIMITED as long as u use under BIS (browsing, bbm, facebook, twitter etc). You get credits deducted purely because you have used WAP apps or foursquare or streamed youtube.
If you want to use foursquare, make sure you never access 'notification settings' in options, that page drain your credit like water.
Source: MYSELF : Used for months and every month my usage is 1~2GB solely on the phone.
P/S: Above info only applies to BIS BONUS. BIS Lite or Social RM30 is a ripped off plan, you will get charged.
Also, any usage under BIS in Maxis postpaid bis is UNLIMITED too, the quota are for streaming.

I need to clarify to you guys again, the 100MB quota for MAXIS BIS BONUS RM20 prepaid is NOT applicable under BIS, e.g. UNLIMITED as long as u use under BIS (browsing, bbm, facebook, twitter etc). You get credits deducted purely because you have used WAP apps or foursquare or streamed youtube.
If you want to use foursquare, make sure you never access 'notification settings' in options, that page drain your credit like water.
Source: MYSELF : Used for months and every month my usage is 1~2GB solely on the phone.
P/S: Above info only applies to BIS BONUS. BIS Lite or Social RM30 is a ripped off plan, you will get charged.
Also, any usage under BIS in Maxis postpaid bis is UNLIMITED too, the quota are for streaming.

but dont worry.. try to claim warranty from brightstar.. as it is still a brightstar unit...

I update my os already. Restart time is less than before. Much much faster to restart than before. Less hang now. Really improve. But then celcom bis having a problem. Or only me having a problem after update my os? Bis always disconnected, no bb logo beside 3g. Thus cannot connect to bis. When use 2g, ok pulak. But slow like a snail. Damn it

weird problem.. have trying battery pull..?? , before insert the battery try to take out the sim card about 1 minute - 5 minute then, insert it back , restart/reboot your phone , try see.. ok or not..

I'm in gombak. Last 3weeks my bis connection was super fast. After I update my os, problem started to occur. Just now I'm on 3G with bb logo. Then whenever I download apps or games from bb app world, sure my 3G will be disconnected, no bb logo, n 3G become 3g. Then I change to 2g, okay liao. Continue download, but slow like hell. Whenever I open my bb app world, sure this problem happened. Why ah?? Damn. If I just browse n fb, my 3G works fine. Only bb app world. Damn it.

dont use whatsapp , streaming over youtube , radio apps, foursquare and access any wap site.
but.. there are also a little trick that you can use.. but this step will avoid you to receive MMS but remember you can't receive MMS..

BB is under Canadian server.. not US..
by law, the BB has the rights to keep our information, access our information that stored during the BB service.. , US has no right to interfere and try to access the information[unless permitted]
FB/MSN /YM / SKYPE is different
and yet.. the BIS sevice isn't completely secured at all,... that's why there are Blackberry Enterprise Server service... which can help company manage their own server [e-mail. etc] , safe .. [BB can access it, but it will be unlikely because it is really private to company only]

i'm surfing internet during travelling to my office. Perhaps due to the heavy webpage, somehow all the button smoothness gone...and every cursor moves seems like a bit lag. after that..this thing happen :
1)AppsError 603
2) then my bb auto reboot again
3) after reboot..few error msg appear : "Uncaught Exception : java.lang.Error", and few error as well......
3) costumized wallpaper gone..and replaced by default one..
4) button move...seems ok. but i'm realized some function like sms gone..(but the contact book still ok).
5) my BIS oso looks gone (no BB BIS logo at the top corner)...only phoneline (my maxis) appear.
5) i click setup button, and bb start hang again..and i need to pull out button and restart again..

I think there's a software problem with your phone. 2 methods you can try.
1. Reinstall your firmware using DM. 2. Install a hybrid OS, this will improve overall performance but not recommended for newbies.
anyway.. you also can update via BB Desktop Software..

u need to reload the OS again.. seems you have problems with apps...
backup your phone first [but don't backup your apps]
then.. reload the newer OS or same OS.. and then restore your backup..
If you use BBSAK to wipe your device, you'll get Error 507, it's no big deal. If you decide not to wipe it, just install the new OS over it, no errors.
Is it hv any error when using new os...i dont know how to upgrade the os and afraid if have any error.....

Digi Line working fine here, BBM fine,.. so i think it is your device fault..
since you have reboot/pull battery your BB, the only way to solve your problem is by reload/update the OS of your phone..
OR , try with another sim card , BIS .. and try.. whether you still have that problem or not..
if still have , confirm it is your device problem..

price, if you dont have warranty, you need to pay a bit for repairing it [I dont know how much is it , but i'm sure u can negotiate the price with them]

but if want navigations + maps + voice guided = waze is only the best in malaysia *if you still new in waze, probably you won't see full map , you need to make a journey at least 1km , and you will see the real and full map..

there are many ways, one of the ways is -> 1st you need to download the Blackberry Desktop software[download link below]
connect your phone , and update your phone. if there is a update, you can update.
but if it shows no update, means your OS is the latest OS in that OS version.
anyway, if you know others service provider that provide the latest OS, you can download from them, install it.

after install the new OS, connect your device back.

find vendor.xml in that directory, delete vendor.xml
then, double click at Loader.exe / Loader
start the installation process choose the important thing that you want, dont worry.. most of important thing is already ticked
Click Next to begin the installation. This will take anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes on average. Do Not Unplug Your Device!!
your device may restart/reboot 5-10 minutes
5. Restore your Data/3rd Party Apps

Hye.I'm trying to connect my bb to bbsak..but it seems not to b connected..no device detected..other software like bb desktop manager can detect my bb and I also cn access my media card.. But somehow bbsak can't..any idea y dis happened?

the normal task manager for BB is just hold the menu button.. and then.. you can see the apps that running.., you just need to enter the apps and close/exit it manually..

Never heard of anyone doing that as well bro, sorry couldn't be a help. But back in Indonesia there are quite a lot of Blackberry technicians that can open up quite a lot of parts that normal technicians can't open.

Just got a 2nd hand 9780, but every time I try to setup my internet email account, nothing happens and it either goes back to the setup screen or the whole phone freezes. Everything else like BBM, Twitter and Appworld are working fine. Some help here guys? :S

Finally got it to work, hoyeah! None of the above methods worked for me guys, but thanks for the help. In the end, I loaded up Applications under the Blackberry Desktop Software and removed the email setup application. Worked like a charm!

~~ already used this latest os .723 and satisfy with the battery usage. unplug charger at 8am and recharge it back at 8pm.. im a heavy user with bbm, fb, twitter, call in and out, ym, messaging and anything that on my bb.. other than that is a recommended os to used..

On EDGE, you only can have either voice or data at any time. So if you're using data, voice calls cannot come in. You will subsequently get a missed call alert.
So for people whose phone calls are important to them, ie salesperson or businessman, you have to be on 3G all the time. Constant missed calls does not have a good impression on your clients.

Battery life is definitely affected if you're on 3G/2G mode.
If you're in a 3G enabled area, and you're using data, phone calls can still come in.
The problem with our local scene is that the 3G data coverage is not stable, and more often that not you find yourself on EDGE.
Try living in a country who has a stable 3G connection, like Singapore or Australia, you'll find battery life on 3G much better.

there are no hybrid that can make your 9780 to OS7 ,
you still using base OS6 , but change some COD/sfi file to the COD/sfi file of OS7
it depends on what hybrid that you want...
if you want to do it yourself, you need to try and error, , i mean.. you need to have the official OS from OS7 and also your OS6 , and try change some COD / sfi file , and then installed your own hybrid OS..
but if you just want to try the hybrid that is already available ,you can install the hybrid based on the instruction that given by hybrid creator..
if it is exe file..., need to install in the computer first..,and follow the instruction

but you are using .723 which is still not many hybrid that can be installed , i suggest u revert back to .706 or .666 and you can install some of good hybrids
there are no hybrid that can make your 9780 to OS7 ,
you still using base OS6 , but change some COD/sfi file to the COD/sfi file of OS7
it depends on what hybrid that you want...
if you want to do it yourself, you need to try and error, , i mean.. you need to have the official OS from OS7 and also your OS6 , and try change some COD / sfi file , and then installed your own hybrid OS..
but if you just want to try the hybrid that is already available ,you can install the hybrid based on the instruction that given by hybrid creator..

what's the latest official OS for this device? plug into desktop manager and it says there are no update. I am currently on .570 what's the safest fastest way to update OS? read it on another thread, it's too confusing. thanks

When you see no update available although you know there is a update available, actually the update is from another service provider..., you jut need to download from other service provider,

Yes agree with u bro.. Signal reception much more better than the previous os.. Less worries to go anywhere now.. i think i need to replace my original battery since its already a year and hope can get cheap sunglobal battery.. hehehe... other than that, i think RIM already solve almost all the 9780 problem and really happy with it...

try to switch to 2G, used 3G only if u want to surf of youtube ( advice from LYN mmbers and i used it, so far looks ok ).. it looks a bit messy but that the best way to save ur batt.. also u can install few application that can make ur bb run more smooth and also save batt..

follow the instruction by ayil carefully...to reload the OS to your phone
then.. after that.. reboot your phone, and tried the flash...[make sure it is on not auto]
if it is working, u may install other newer OS , .723 , but before that , uninstall the .666 OS in your computer, reboot computer or just clean the registry , and then.. follow the instruction to install the OS into your phone..

for the MMS ,you need to configure your setting yourself... As you know, every telco has it own way..

What do u need to use the wap browser? We use internet browser =) I think only nokia and the geng uses WAP now. Example like wap.maxis.com.my With bis bonus, you can browse internet normally. Except wap address Actually they say cannot, because they think whatsapp connect via WAP access also. But in fact you can.

18 months is if you register your warranty in brightstar website, not sure still available or not.
As for maxis BIS Bonus, you can browse all you want and use whatsapp. in OS6, there is only ONE browser and it is the BIS browser, any usage under BIS are unlimited.
Whatsapp runs under BIS too, so you won't get charged. However, services like streaming and tethering or other WAP apps will get charged.
i have used Maxis for quite some time now, no bill shock but then again i pay about RM400/month but for a supplementary BB as well. BIS is very good so far there is no failure.
