i already avoid buying panasonic water heater... i use joven for 10yrs since then . every 10yrs change once.

For enamel storage water heater, is Centon or Rheem better?

Based on a quick scan on Shopee, the best-selling (number of units sold) storage water heater on Shopee looks like is CENTON, even more than JOVEN or MIDEA, and they also have the highest numbers of 5 star reviews. Guess that speaks for itself.

I was shopping for storage heater during 3.3 sales and was intrigued by the stats you shared about Centon. I looked up shopee and I think your statement is misleading. There is only one Centon seller whereas other brands have many sellers, the highest number of units sold are not comparable unless all sellers combined.

Your statement that there's only 1 CENTON seller is not true , as I saw multiple sellers selling similar models. Most brands on Shopee, if not all, will have multiple sellers, unless it is an exclusive distribution privilege.

Hence I mentioned its a 'quick scan' rather than a 'detailed report', picking what might looks like the best seller for each brands as comparison. Yes I agree with u that this quick comparison is neglecting smaller sellers, so if u have the time to consolidate the data to provide a more detailed findings, feel free to share your findings here for the benefit of the rest in this thread.

Centon is cheaper to begin with so the data is a bit skewed, and reviews are "paid" in coins on shopee so I'm not really inclined to believe shopee review at face value. No offense 😬

I ask here because LYN got some forumers with a bit more technical explanation which is what I'm looking for.

I use Joven and Seers. Never heard of Rheem.

I know Centon brand. Many property developers use Joven, and new house come with it. My Seers is good, 5 years and doing strong.

Joven also quite good la, my gf house 12 years+ it died. Replaced with Midea. Then found out neighbors call Joven to come repair by replacing the heating element. 12 years plus consider good lo.

I would choose Joven. Or Midea. Centon maybe. Rheem I never hear before so won’t bother. Seers very expensive, I won’t choose it now since I don’t need energy savings.

Flow determined by water pressure ma not the water heater. Hotter or not see the wattage. I think majority all 3.6kW with some special units catered to lower input temp with higher wattages.

Why need to change? Heating performance deteriorate? I still like the Panasonic push button on/off.

I've currently got a 50L storage tank heater for just one bathroom, but going to renovate and remove the bathtub. Will still prefer something similar to a tank heater as I'd like a concealed rainshower from the ceiling + hand shower from the wall, would I be able to simply replace the tank heater with this, assuming the cable thickness is correct?

It can be hidden in the ceiling, set at a certain temperature (e.g. 80%), and I can control it using my mixer as usual right? It should automatically turn off when no water is flowing through it?

CENTON Forza is a multipoint instant water heater, so yes it will turn off automatically when there's no water flowing thru it.

And since it is a multipoint, so yes u can use similar piping arrangement as per your storage water heater, as long as the current one is compliant and can sustain hot water temperature, not forgetting the discharge piping for the pressure relief valve.


The upsides are:
1. the size is small and compact; as opposed to a much larger sized storage water heater.
2. literally no waiting time (only few seconds before getting hot water); as opposed to a storage water heater where u have to wait about 15 to 30 minutes if the water in the tank is completely unheated (the larger the tank capacity, the longer the waiting time).

The downsides are:
1. Much lower output water temperature, at max only 50°C (the higher the water flow, the lower the output water temperature); as opposed to a storage water heater which is 75°C at max output.
2. Much higher electrical wirings and components requirements since its power rating is high (if I'm not mistaken there are 5.5kW and 7.0kW option); as opposed to a storage water heater which is usually not more than 3.0kW, hence required much lower-spec wirings and components.


If you want to replace your old storage water heater and u do not have a space constrain, I suggest u to stick with a new storage water heater to get similar output water temperature / shower experience, as changing to a CENTON Forza multipoint instant water heater will give u a lower output water temperature, and requires u to upgrade your electrical wirings and components (which can be a headache as it might involves wall and ceiling hacking as well).

Hi all. For 2.5 storey house (master bed/bath on 2nd floor), 3 bathrooms on 1st floor, and 2 bathrooms on ground floor. I plan to get Grundfos CMBE 5-62 and Centon Serene Highlands 5.4kW Instant Water Heater to power the master bathroom rain shower. Would it work?

If you are using external pump, make sure that your water pipe are re-visited, if possible new piping, the older pipes may give-way to the pressure, especially at the joints.

Centon looks good if you want higher temperature. all the best

It's a new housing. When I informed the developer on it, he mentioned that if installing 2HP pump, need to replace the plumbing from class 6 PVC to class 7 PVC to handle the pressure.

External booster pumps, especially powerful ones like Grundfos, are usually paired with storage water heaters like CENTON Neptune, or if u prefer instant water heaters, the multi-point ones like CENTON Forza (that comes with copper tank, with power rating of 5.5kW or 7.0kW).


CENTON Serene Highlands 5.4kW is a single-point instant water heater, and here's a few reasons that instant water heater might not be sufficient:

1. High Water Flow | Your water flow will be very high with Grundfos pump, hence 5.4kW power rated instant water heater might barely give u a lukewarm output water temperature (the higher the water flow, the lower the output water temperature). U might need a 7.0kW like CENTON Forza (if your electrical wiring and component spec is sufficient to support such high power rating) to sufficiently heat up the water before reaching you. A storage water heater like CENTON Neptune will definitely be sufficient, hence is the best choice.

2. High Water Pressure | That model is a single-point model (comes with a plastic tank), which can withstand up to 55psi water pressure only. You Grundfos pump might output water pressure that exceed that, which will damage the water heater's plastic tank in a long run. Hence, if u insist of using instant water heater, a multi-point model like CENTON Forza is safer (can withstand up to 87psi), or best option, to go for storage water heaters like CENTON Neptune (can withstand up to 116psi).

3. Shower Accessories Compatibility | U have to use the shower accessories that comes with that single-point model (else your warranty will be voided). Hence if u want to use your own sets of shower accessories (eg. those that built-into your bathroom walls), go for multi-point models like CENTON Forza is safer (free to use with any shower accessories), or best option, to go for storage water heaters like CENTON Neptune.
