I tried to monitor the temperature i played. If i recalled correctly this i5 core will throttle at 95C right? Coz i use hwmonitor when i played and the max temp i go for cpu is 94C. Probably the cpu throttle and caused the stupid crashing? I used throttlestop ady but still same@@

ya still bios 218. Some games are still doing great. But recently coz i played dead island, then N45SF always crash. Its like halfway playing it, then suddenly the whole danm thing hangs and distorted sound coming out from the speaker and the whole thing just freeze. THen only way is to cut off the power. Sometimes other game also will have this problem, but the one i find the problem occur the most is dead island and WARCRAFT III(dota). Dammit, even dota also this problem>.<

QUOTE(versacy @ Jan 22 2012, 09:22 PM)
oh that sounds interesting, so i must use ac power when ever i'm gaming and most of the time my laptop acts as a desktop replacement and will be using it under external power plug in only. But what if the power suddenly goes off ... the laptop will immediately shut down without proper means and this can cause any damage to windows ?? Other than that i will be happy using it in ac power mode.

One more doubt pls, In the change advanced power settings, there's the intel graphics power plan.... right now it is set to balanced for me under both battery and plugged in.
Is it good to change it to maximum performance when plugged in and how would the laptop temperatures be goin' when my intel hd performs under maximum mode ?? and for the 3d settings should it be performance, quality or balance ?? Whenever my laptop runs on battery it automatically goes to performance and doesn't switch back to balance when ac power is used again...
*
yes, of course if we are on ac only without battery then if blackout surely we might lost some files that are currently in work(and probably didn't save of what), but with ac and battery to be used together, and if running on high demanding things(such as gaming), it will damage ur laptop even more. So if there is a plug or power source, normally i would prefer to take off the battery, so ur battery won't spoil so fast.

as for the maximum performance thing, don worry about the temperature. If u are just using for web browsing, movies, songs and all that ur temperature won't go very high one. The only moment u should worry about it is gaming. And so far this series's temperature quite ok, even extreme stress test also around 90+, and so far i don think any games can push the laptop til that extreme. For the 3d settings, it depends on u. For me i pick let my programme decide. And for the power plan, u just change from the power plan settings there, probably there are some settings overlap. Try check and see. And if me i would prefer to use high performance when on ac adapter and balanced/power saver when on battery only so that the battery can last longer

Hope this help thumbup.gif

In the 3d settings thing, i'm talking about the intel hd card. I went to the graphics properties and then 3d... here there are two options. One is i can set the bar to either performance or quality or balance in between the two. I chose the balance one and others like texture quality, AF, AA and vertex processing are set to either default or application controlled. In my power plan settings, for this intel card i set it to maximum performance under ac power and balanced under battery.

Ok.. so u choose the high performance mode whenever u are on ac adapter, fine.. but i choose the power4gear entertainment and..... my power settings are like this : min processor state-5%, max-99% and for battery : min processor state-5%, max-80%.

Hope my settings for the intel card and power plan options are right.... and correct me if i need to change something anywhere.
*
most i put application controlled also. Power4gear entertainment i'm not really sure that power plan(i don use power4gear lol, uninstalled it straight away), but i think is a balanced plan rather than high performance

for my n45sf needs example..
3d : quality and sometimes let the 3d application decide (depends on gaming needs)
P4G : default high performance (no adjustment)
always gaming with ac power plugged in while without battery.. faced black out several times but so far no HDD poblem ~ hd tune pro..
only use my battery for some important/low connection downloads. smile.gif

yours is fine i guess..

question, do u face the problem me and nuttyking91 facing? Its like u half way play games, then suddenly the whole screen freeze and distorted sound starts coming out from the speaker non stop. Only way to stop it is to cut the power. Its totally random, but somehow i discovered if i play dotA(warcraft III) sure crash one

Yep running 218.  No overclocks, NVIDIA 290.53, and performance power plan.

The game doesn't lag, get 30 fps in Skyrim, but after a while complete shutdown.

Hot air is blowing from the vent, not really powerful, but have no basis for comparison of what it should be anyway.
*
mind describe it more detail? Its like u halfway playing then suddenly *poof* and like blackout like that? Or it hangs/freeze/crash then u have to manually cut the power?

If is the first case most likely is overheated, but me myself a N45SF users also never had that problem at all. Maybe u should try 285.62 instead of 290.53, coz last time i tried somehow 285.62 still more stable. My driver keep crashing when i play games with 290.53

physX should be included in the driver itself normally. But if not then u can go nvidia official site and download the latest one.

what about 285.74 from the asus site? i got this one.. will try to get the next whql release of nvidia shud be in feb i guess, coz 285.62 is old for now...

Added on January 26, 2012, 10:47 pm
got only nvidia 3d vision driver, graphics and hd audio drivers. physx not included in the driver i got from asus, give me the latest and stable physx driver link to download.
what all games support and play well with physx?
*
yes driver wise, of course 285.62 is old, but our GT555M are always the left out ones. Other cards can use any new driver no problem and all that but not our card. Our card depends on the driver, some driver may be new but it always crashes with our cards. and btw, physX is basically something that helps in calculating things in our games, so that our game can go smoother/more beautiful. Its not like games have to support it only it works, its something in Nvidia card that helps in calculating

ya but the problem is, my fren went to the service centre, he played games 3 hours there no problem at all doh.gif . Dammit, its like this laptop knows. When u go service centre no problem. Normally my fren play dota(warcraft III) 20 minutes then crash ady. Me also the same, dota then keep crashing, dota 2 so far crash one time only. Everything totally random. Then the asus ppl starts giving us driver-not-latest-crap
