I think TM is playing Russian Roulette everybody is in front of the gun barrel. If your fortunate you get good speed and if not your speed sucks big time!

Hey peeps, if i use the dir615 as a vlan bridge n another router as an access point.

Does the dir615 has to be 7.05 firmware? Or 7.09 will do.

Provided that i follow the http://unifi.athena.my/custom_routers.php steps
*
i think should take latest firmware hmm.gif you better PM rizvanrp or klseet to confirm..

QUOTE(WildChai @ Nov 25 2011, 09:29 PM)
Tried resetting a couple of times....thought it was IP range problem. Still no change...slow speed. Manage to get unto 2XX range...speed was worse...din even hit 90kbps. if this persists...will call to complain? (lol...complain to them is like yelling at a wall)
*
reset means you must reset the black huawei btu also. not just the dir615..

Wireless N is not one side thing. It's not like router got N then any of your device can use N. Both router and device must support Wireless N for N speed. So.. Is your device N capable?

Yup, your wireless dongle/card/chip must be "N". Then only can utilize the N capability.

Hey guys so I just got my Unifi vip 10 today and I wanted to get a new all-in-1 modem.

But when ask the retailers whether the Tp-Link & Asus routers (reccomended by klseet. Thx btw) can support unifi and they said their not sure.

They told me no refunds after purchase and that Unifi uses special settings in their default DIR-615 and I will have to bear the risk.

So I only got a surge protect extention and a telephone cable. No modem.

tl;dr: Can any unifi sifu's advice if on how I should go about changing/replacing my modem?

Ok because I was thinking there could be a specific model made by asus or tp-link to support unifi.

Maybe I will give it a try this next week.

try to go here:

http://192.168.1.1/adv_wlan.php > change bandwidth to 20Mhz (default 20/40 Mhz auto) and try to connect
or u already change it? if already change and still cant connect, i think ur device cannot read the signal like the technician laptop while setting up my Unifi yesterday..

guys, I tried the unifi.athena way adding the additional router to the dir615.

I downgraded it to 7.05, uploaded the settings, I can connect directly via pc to dir615 to the black modem but I tried connecting using my own router - dir615. I am unable to do so, i dunno why.

Fed up, I linked my own router directly to the black modem and it can connect without much configuration. Any cons on that? without using dir615 as the vlan bridge
apart of not having the iptv set up that's all

Just curious, for landed double storey prop setup, is it possible to opt for VDSL modem, just to re-use the copper line over the ceiling for FTB to BTU connection, can save RM$3xx over the ceiling work & have flexi BTU placement? hmm.gif

normal speed here. test your torrent speed with a well known torrent like linux/slackware. should hit full speed in a few seconds. if it doesnt then there's something wrong
