Well for my phone, once I stop surfing or anything, it automatically drops back to 3G logo. And when i start surfing it goes to H+. But based on speed test, the fastest I can get is 7.2mbps.

I probably assume that my cap at 7mpbs or thereabouts also has to do with my phone's modem. But to be honest, 7+ is plenty good for a phone using to chat and surf.
Btw i found the 1861 in JB for 180 bucks. Which is quite cheap, although I have no idea how to test as I didn't bring my computer along earlier.

I have a feeling the newer icons will not be out, the chipset maker for option got sold out to nvidia. So not sure if they going to use qualcomm's chipset in the future or just totally abandon their 3G modems.

@coolstore, so u got lobang for huawei e372? I want to test my office area signal, 2100 is pathetic here. No idea why. And the building I am in is only 1 floor, and no real interior walls.

Any way to check the modem band support? Assuming the modem; huawei brand, is at hand.

chuah, digilife and others, whats a reasonable price for e353 with 900/2100 UMTS?
I may be able to get one over the weekend, but no idea what kinda number will be hurled at my face lol. But can't wait to test out at my area.

Depends on what you're after. 308 is UMTS2100 only. 310U is UMTS900/2100
If bands are not an issue, go for UMG1861, ZTE MF691 or some other 21mbps modem. Even the 308 is 21mbps right?

The e353 must get the unbranded one, the 3 branded one doesn't have. I'm waiting for someone to confirm with me price and stock level on the e353 unbranded version.

Yes, I've already posted the specs. e353s-1 e353u-1 e353wu-1 (2100 only, 3.co.uk branded)
Added on January 13, 2012, 12:02 pmOh, because if you're in JB still got lobang for icon 505, but expensive. 308 UMTS2100 will work with celcom 3G, no issues. All GSM/UMTS carriers in msia support UMTS2100 if I am not wrong.
