I asked CS if he got stock and if no stock when restocking. He informed me "difficult to find source". Doesn't seem like a good sign.
Anyway, I'll find the source on saturday, will only go maxis center on sat to get my multisims.

I complained to maxis that I get only 0 or 1 bar 3g/hspa signal at my work site at pasir gudang yesterday.
Today a technical person called me to inform me he's checking out the cell tower and he claims just opposite my work site got a tower.
But since my signal is low, he told me he'll try and see if there can be any reengineering done and keep me updated on the progress. Although he said he cannot make any promises as there may be other factors like my building's construction that may play a part. But I have to applaud maxis on their prompt customer service and their willingness to right any issue.
On a side note, anyone experience 'jammed' or congested cell towers, and any way to circumvent this issue?
Added on January 10, 2012, 11:42 pm@fruitie, the blue line is the decal on the modem I'd think.

I was quoted RM200/pc for the icon505, but at this price, can get the huawei e353 from andrew. Which theoretically provides higher download speeds.
chuah, have u tested the e353? Its using qualcomm 8200a.

lol, fruitie tension. By most accounts 2.4mbps is considered quite good la. Especially coming from ahem steamix. Added on January 11, 2012, 10:12 am@digilife So to find the spot, we need to use it like a divining rod? This post has been edited by MYstombox: Jan 11 2012, 10:12 AM

A question, anyone tried using modem+TPlink 3420 in their car? Especially those that travel a lot.
I know it sounds stupid, but if I am going on a vacation, with a long car ride, i think its quite useful.

@Jack2 Can power using 12v to 240v converter.
Added on January 11, 2012, 11:06 am@maxcheam
Looks good, but is it suitable for 24/7 use?
I know 3G router is it uses a 3G modem and acts as a router AP, i understand as well, it uses a WAN and acts as a router But what is WISP? Is it wireless repeater mode?
Another thing is, because it is only powered by 5v 1.0A, will the USB port have enough power to juice a high speed 3G modem?

@digilife
The thing is, the adaptor doesn't push the power, it's the device that draws it.
The device is rated at 5v 1A, so 2A adaptor would just mean the adaptor runs cooler.

Well, it depends. Because increasing the power to a regular USB port will help stablise some modems. Generall its 0.5ma for a regular USB port on the computer. Some mobiles can be charged ~5v 0.3mA.
Do note that the compatibility lists, the higher speed modems are usually not included. Or at least when I scan through I couldn't find any.
Added on January 11, 2012, 1:49 pmBattery powered is good. 3040 may be a good wait, especially when paired with a good modem will cost less than the mifi.

Yeah I know. I did purchase a dual 2.1A+1A charger for my car. Works very well. And cheap too <RM20. lol.
Wow, after reading the description on the MR3040, I think that is a good choice! Has a battery, and attach a HS dongle onto it. 2000mA battery as well. Much better than regular mifi offered that cost RM350-450.
Hopefully its cheaper than a mifi device though. If it cost around 250, I really don't mind getting it.
