QUOTE(204 @ Jan 3 2012, 03:15 PM) hi guys.. i'm lately checking out mechanical keyboards and would appreciate for some suggestion.. keyboard i'm checking out was.. You won't go wrong with the brand like Ducky/Filco/Leopold (that are available locally), as for Razer Blackwidow, i've helped my friend to send RMA for 3-4 times, thiink that's straight forward enough right?i'm checking out blackwidow standard.. reason is cause its cheap and i'm not sure if the key actually last better compare with the coating of the ultimate.. but i like the backlit of the ultimate.. after some research i found out both razer is only 2kro.. so i begin checking out others.. and notice the ducky 9008s.. it has the light which is nice.. the matte finish which is less fingerprint magnet.. and some review say the plastic is way better than razer.. but it's at a quite premium price for half a k so my concern is.. any of you experience less pleasant experience with he blackwidow, keycap quality, fade issue, shiney key.. does the ducky have any issue like that as well as some review mention the unstable quality of ducky.. has that been improved.. i have sweaty hands so i'm quite paranoid about the quality and it's durability.. and if you were in my place.. which would u buy.. other brand is welcome also.. since.. u're the one that've been through it Added on January 3, 2012, 3:17 pmalso.. hows the blue switch and brown switch in ur actually experience differ? and does the razer blue sound louder or the ducky blue.. for those who owned both before oh ya i forgot to ask one very important thing.. i'm using the dlink kvm.. any of you have problem using these keyboards with kvm.. Blue switch are tactile + click, while brown are just tactile, so to compare, blue switch will produce sexy moaning... shit again... i mean clicky sound thats noisy to some people, and at the same time you will feel tactile bump everytime you actuate a key. |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Jan 3 2012, 04:03 PM) Ah, so the BW is the blue switch. It was my first time trying on a mechanical keyboard, and kinda like the BW. But as usual, Razor stuffs is err... overpriced... and this is one of their first mechanical keyboard which is why I'm asking for suggestions for the other expert brands in mechanical keyboard. Razer priced their BWU at the right price, its the quality you may need to concern, and of course its 2KRO, which you may not able to press more than 2 keys.I use my keyboard for typing most of the time... rarely game much nowadays, blue switch should suit me? or should I be going with brown instead? Nice, will consider this At the same price tags of BWU, you can consider getting the Ducky, which is available at Czone, or if you want something with good QC, Filco is the way. Or you want cheap and yet quality assured, Leopold, only available by shipping at the moment, you can ask our thread starter for more info regarding the product. |

QUOTE(Cyclonechuah @ Jan 4 2012, 07:58 PM) i don't particularly looking forward for backlit stuff, and about transparent keycap being rare. I mean for now. The way you're trying to emphasize for current situation about mechanical keyboard is like saying SSD will start become cheaper due to it being common in the market, everything has its hi-rise and low-rise, its about the people's mind that are able to handle the poisons or not.Since those thing are slowly growing in this market and getting more and more common, why pay premium just because the stuff is rare for now, and slowly getting common and cheap in future.(example : keyboard with backlit) Well, it's just my point of view thou. Because sooner or later, modding will be getting common and easier with guides and stuff. and KBC keep pumping out all kinds of keycap and going on for further mass production. For me, i'll sit and cross my finger, and wait for the ultimate keycap that is suitable for backlit.(i don't want the current transparent keycap with coating seriously >_>, They don't last long in my usage. ) |

QUOTE(eugene_lys @ Jan 5 2012, 12:39 AM) I have a question for the Ducky DK9008 Shine. Does the keycap become shiny/fade quickly? Besides that, where can I get one/test with brown keycaps in KL? Brown switch you mean? Ducky Shine's keycaps are made by ABS and thus, the keycaps will get shiny after long usage. |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jan 5 2012, 04:21 PM) LOL so you're implying red is better? But I have no place to try red D: I believe with your gears you're owning right now... RM2xx couldn't be your true budget. And hmm filco is really out of my budget because my initial budget was RM2xx.... Leopold is the max I can afford. |

QUOTE(Human10 @ Jan 5 2012, 11:34 PM) Whoever eyeing on Rapoo V7 b4(yeah, the board with fake cherry yellow switch), here is something similar but possible to be interested. Even Genius joining the game as well.. woothttp://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=139035...777270230&prc=2 ![]() The whole board using fake cherry(red) except the WASD, using real Cherry Black.... Good for those ppl with vintage board which only harvest keycaps. I assume it is possible to be fully modded into Cherry board. Count the price of 2nd hand switch, the fully cherry modded board will only be costing around 350RMB, which is consider really a bargain for the PBT keycaps(and possibly hardware level programability). Even for those who are completely don't know how to mod, it is also consider a cheap price. The fake cherry switch should not be too awful to be pressed too judging from the semi success fake cherry yellow(except stem durability maybe, LOL). |

QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ Jan 6 2012, 12:53 PM) Eventually we will have one of each keyboard for users to compare. We are even considering doing a post motem to show you the difference in quality. The keycaps on Filco is of very low quality, and the stabilizer on large keys squeak very quickly. Think you used the wrong way to say Filco's quality is bad, keycaps quality is low are due to its made by plastic (called as ABS), the lowest quality keycaps available in the market.keyword = in the future. As for the squeak sounds, you can just fix it with those tamiya grease, and it only happened on Filco Majestouch 2, it doesn't happen in their previous lineups (i not sure, my Majestouch 1 don't have this problem.) QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ Jan 6 2012, 12:43 PM) Leopold, CM, Razer, Steelseries. But usually people buy Filco and Leopold. Many seem to prefer to buy Filco even though the quality isn't particularly impressive considering the price tag. And i actually can't believe you will say Filco quality isn't impressive... i will see what other people say about this input. As for me, i think its a well built keyboard compares to other one, not being bias or something, i've personally tried other brand as well before i input this. QUOTE(Human10 @ Jan 6 2012, 01:12 PM) Fix'd Think its better you just directly "steal" the photo link and post it here, BTW, I cant believe that nobody posted this b4 http://www.waishehome.cn/thread-39307-1-3.html The Aluminium casing for KBT Pure(ala Poker's This post has been edited by kEazYc: Jan 6 2012, 01:58 PM |

QUOTE(eugene_lys @ Jan 6 2012, 02:16 PM) Is it limited edition? I'm really interested in a Ducky Shining Red Switch blue light. Flying back to Aus on Feb 12th so hopefully I can pick one up. Oh talk about different switches on a keyboard, i just happen to know a friend of mine did it on his keyboard, alphabet keys are blue switches, 1 to 0 are black, modifier keys brown, f1 to f12 is red @@Wish that someone could make a tester board like the one on GH. Would allow quick testing of different switches. ![]() |

QUOTE(Human10 @ Jan 7 2012, 04:57 PM) Because brown is the safest bet. Damnit...you're trying to make me think of getting a cherry red switch keyboard-.-!!!Certain ppl don't really know whether they are wanting tactile or linear switch. Also, the blue switch is also not the taste for all ppl. Thus, brown is the safest bet, at least know that it is better than rubber dome(most ppl agree with this but IMO, brown really sucks too). I just tried RED few days ago and indeed it is really nice to type on(and like others claimed, you don't really know when to stop the switch). Though IMO, RED can really be claimed as the safest bet of at least feel better than on rubber-dome. If unsure on when to stop, simply press far enough and try practice not to bottom out(cause it will be loud and the force acting back on your finger will be great till you tire soon). |
