If the AI-2 u bought doesn't came with the key puller and keycap means Filco Japan doesn't provide the free accessories in AI-2.
Fyi, we will not remove anything from the keybaord.
*
Almost all FILCO model(except numpad) from Inpad come with freebies(puller+keycaps). May be cause Taiwan competition is more intense and thus they need to offer more value to attract customer(no offence). icon_rolleyes.gif

Red switch is still quite a new switch(less than 2 years) and thus not all ppl had tried it b4(not more to say not all brand have it). Also, Red may be too soft for newcomer as they tend to bottom out keys even on black. Some ppl prefer switches that give tactile feedback(brown and blue). Last possible reason is some ppl just use what their favorite gamers/brands use, without trying out if others will suit better.

FYI, Razer BW cannot support ps/2 connection. In short, it is stucked at the 2KRO.

Well then good thing I'm considering buying another one then =P

Right now I'm just torn between getting either a Red or Brown(probably Leopold since Cyclone selling it). I keep reading about how Reds are too soft thus can cause inaccuracy which worries me since I play SC2 quite a bit.
*
In fact, brown and red is almost identical in their stiffness(red lighter by a little).

So the only decision to make is either you prefer a linear(no resistance, straight push till the bottom) or a tactile(push half way suddenly feel a bump that also inform you the key is actuating) switch.

anyone know who or anyone I can go to for mechanical keyboard key caps? would love to change the keycaps on my 7G, since its going to be 3years old now and the keycaps look pretty faded
*
Nowhere in local(except the 4/6 FILCO keys at RM50...).
You can try Taobao, PChome(only ducky) or WASD and so on.

Hey guys, what is the best white 104 blank keycap that can go with my Ducky 9008 (that comes with black blank keycap by default)

Thanks !
*
Your best bet should be PBT from KBC. PBT is more yellowing resistant compared to ABS.
If color wise, FILCO LOTUS and DUCKY RABBIT EDITION having nice mac alike whie. KBC PBT dyed keycaps also using mac white color keycaps IIRC.

something like this. If only there is an acrylic body KB like this with those keycaps... wow!
*
This keycaps(KBC PBT WHITE) color is similar to the Mac White(though again I feel the FILCO LOTUS White is more similar, pic at my 1st post in this page).

Too many options for each style as well. Standard, Standard125,standard150, TKL.... Almost impossible to drive prices down as well (save the more popular sets ie NOIR and whatnot). Can see a lot of people jumping ship from the drop in keycap numbers...

Really difficult trying to get a set of doubleshot keys I like now :| Only a set of used ivory/grey keycaps from a Cherry G80-1000 line board. The Rebel Red Alert keys are taking almost forever to come as well sad.gif
*
Can consider getting those WYSE keyboard from Taobao as they come with DS keycaps with quite nice color(white/gray + blue). Recently(few weeks ago), those taobao seller just stocked in whole new WYSE keyboards.

The ones on taobao are thin DS keycaps.
But the surprise is how solid these boards are. They are comparable to Model Ms and Realforce.
*
What I feel weird is their R4 row having very curved profile compared to normal DCS... hmm.gif

Added on December 18, 2011, 11:41 amBTW, anyone know the real model name of this KB?

The seller claimed that it is a cherry mx board(judging from the LED in keycaps placement I 80% sure bout it then) but a Mac Layout keyboard?

@Cyclonechuah

Thanks for the info.

By the way, what should the deciding factor be, between a fileco and a leopold.
*
Branding(FILCO win, cause it is an old and premium brand. also, it is an japan product.... made in Taiwan tongue.gif hmm.gif )
Stabiliser(Costar(wired) VS Cherry Fake(dummy) Switch. most ppl get well on both, but some ppl claimed that Dummy Switch style are stiffer or more weird. Though, Cherry style easier for amateur to swap keys)
Quality(both are top notch from what I heard, just that some random DOA for both brands(rare). Though, some ppl(from GH) are skeptical about Leopold's Stabiliser(China design that copy Cherry Style)
Specs(Leopold USB 18KRO(ps/2 NKRO) FTW, else FILCO claimed they use 1000Hz polling rate USB...)
X-factor(LOL what, I dono.... May be FILCO cause its flashy marketing skill? Ahem ahem... NINJA + Camou....)
whistling.gif

Partially related,

If now Leopold(quality) is on par with FILCO, I wonder how when their so called "improved" TKL FCR700 come out brows.gif .

I suddenly remember a thing. I suggest that more info such as form factor(TKL, full, mini, 60%...), layout(US ANSI, ISO....) and alternative layout(QWERTY, DVORAK, COLEMAK...) to be put/directed at the 1st page.

Hmm.. quite a good idea. i'll compile lots of stuff and adding more on V5 mechanical, majorly will be taking from geekhack and deskthority wiki thou, will try to simplify them for newbie to easier understanding.

Currently, lack alot of information regarding to plastic materials, keycaps printing method. i'm working on that now.

Added : but for the form factor part, i'm really confuse seriously.

With all those percentage like 60% 75%, 40%, and i'm like "what???????"

Why don't they just go with 104 keys, 87/84 keys, they are more straight forward and easier to understand.
*
% normal for size inferring different.

Poker easier to say 60%/40% than counting the number of keys, LUL...

Also can die sub keycaps be other color than white?

Because dye-sub basically last forever(as long as the keycap itself last).
Yup, dye-sub can be any possible color the machine can print,

Btw, regarding the form factor issue, i thought KBC Poker X is 40%? the 60% is new? Or is the same thing?
*
LOL got any update in keycaps? All are old news posted over and over... blink.gif

BTW, KBC Poker is known as both 40% and 60%, depend who called it. Form factor wise, it is around 60%(cut the F keys, cut the tenkey, cut the arrow and home keys). Though, some ppl rather call it 40% for which many function had being loss, LOL...

BTW, K60 is more of my things(compared to K90) for which less RD keys and better wristrest. whistling.gif

PS: That guy's review is not bad. At least all gimmicks features do have some reasonable reasons. His knowledge on mech kb is quite lots for a gaming peripheral reviewer.

From my experience of selling product of this kind coating. There won't rusted in short period but most of them get dirty in 1 or 2 year because of dust and sweat.

If you want maintain the Shining you have to always Polish it.
*
For coated or electroplated layer, I doubt it will last long even for thick one. wearing off the coating and the inside will exposed. It can't be polished too much too.

The problem of electroplating is that, the process plating the metal with zinc. Which is Zinc serve as a protection for the metal. When Zinc plating wears off over time. when the metal will start to

But currently now, MKC metal keycap is made from Zinc Alloy. So i'm kinda confuse, Will they last even longer than normal metal which only has thin layer of electroplating.
*
According to my form 4 chemistry knowledge few years back. Good metal (oxide) coating including Zinc Oxide and Aluminium Oxide(Macbook, anyone?). The oxide layer will protect the metal inside from rusting/oxidising.

Alloy(Stainless Steel) on the hand function in such way that prevent rusting by altering the molecular structure inside.
