Mid Wars is a new 5v5 map in HoN that have only 1 lane and a bunch of new features that makes it a fast, intense and action packed version of the game. Respawns are fast, no gold is lost on death and since all 10 heroes is bunched together in the same lane you can expect team clashes to happen as early as level 1. Games are shorter and there are less time in game doing nothing while waiting your hero respawn. As a side effect I noticed that people troll and flame a lot less because they're are too busy actually playing the game than to type out flames or rages. Also there are less frustration of losing an hour long game as the game generally ends in 15-20 minutes. You'll collect silver coins faster this way too. It's way more than just a normal dota map with Only Mid mode turned on.

- Smaller map with only 1 lane (shorter and only have 2 towers for each side).

- Respawn time is lowered according to level from 4 seconds at level 1 up to 15 seconds at level 25.

- Removal of gold loss upon death similar to casual mode.

- Increasing the bounty on hero kills to accelerate the economy of each match.

- The Blind Ban: Three bans were given to each team with the selections remaining hidden until all six selections were locked in. Allow bans to overlap between the teams, which inevitably instil a fear of "wasting a ban". This hidden mechanic lead to strategic depth and all-around fun situations in the picking phase where players are forced to decide whether to ban heroes they don't like and risk wasting that ban, or ban heroes they think would counter their line-up and race to make their choices once the blind banning is complete

- Rune spawn point close enough to the midpoint of the map that the fight flows to the north rune and back again to the center every two minutes as new runes spawn.

- Neutrals are located at the center of the map, either side can gain access to them and anyone going for the rune can immediately react to anyone approaching the neutrals.

- Transmutenstein and Zorgath replaces Kongor as Boss monster and drop Tablet of Power (Double Damage, Illusion, Haste and Regen tablet all in one) and Token of Sight (Now a buff instead of item so that it don't take item slot) that gives True Vision and Clear Vision until the bearer dies.

well for me the game is fun as ever. newer heroes are bread and butter but actually they are kind of fun, including those i never picked. not sure whats happening in gayrena these days. been quite a while since ive been there.

oh u using vpn to play on US servers? its free also now right?

yah use proxy. yups new players can create free accounts with a limited hero pool (rotated every week). can unlock your favorite heroes too using either by paying cash for gold coin or get silver coins from playing Match Making

The game would be ok if they actually fix the damn kick button only have 4 3 votes for a kick in the team and not everyone. And also fix the horrible lags.

hmmm i guess have to wait for dota2 in which we get to host our own servers.

i use hotspot shield. usually play on JPN server, silky smooth. sometime only play US server usually when playing MM cus no JPN server for MM. US still smooth but sometimes it got that "heavier" feeling when playing.

votekick if team onli will be abused so easily mang. and i dunno which server u play but i rarely experience lag nowadays unless it's my net's own fault.

Added on October 31, 2011, 12:15 pmown server will be worse imo. if the host out the whole game is out. or everybody else but the host will lag. or if the host got wooden pc the whole game will be spoilt. dedicated servers is a step further than own servers i think. lots of improvements can be done by S2 about the condition of their servers but i think right now it aint that bad.

err.. by my understanding own server is the game is hosted in one of the player's pc. dedicated servers is servers provided by the gaming company, any players can host a game using those servers.

well, seeing that dota2 is using source engine, and seeing that all source engine games by valve, valve allow anyone to host their own dedicated game servers, be it public, or private via password etc.

and seeing that valve got new feature for server admins to register their dedicated servers in order to facilitate the "quick play" match making in t2 so i think dota 2 will be the same lor.

i.e.
we can host our own dedicated servers.
if we register the server it will be open to quick play match making etc

hopefully the server browsing will be like tf2 and not like l4d2

like in hon, all the dedicated servers is owned by s2. i think it's better for the gaming company to host their own servers with a standard perfomance level, operating time and regulations.

i think till now, all of valve's games can be self hosted and they are doing just fine.

yalor. last time play valve game is CS. valve mostly got FPS games onli. FPS still ok if self hosted since the game session is not fixed, can go in and go out anytime u wan. dota like game got many issues if self host.

if self host referring to dedicated servers following standard setups etc i dun see why got problem ooo.

the dedicated servers will probably be a on demand server, switching settings based what the in game "lobby host" requests etc.

i.e. macam l4d2 servers.

well for one, the stability and availability. since the server is personally owned then it can be shut down anytime right? in FPS if suddenly game DC cus host offline then can just start anew, no problem since the gameplay is linear and u don't need to level up in game or having a game ending objective like destroying the tree/throne. if dota like game imagine u ownage ady and just about to kill the last 2 towers sandeli server down. reli rage inducing u know, all hard work just gone lidat.

i dunno how l4d or other valve games work man. best alternative i can think to compare is like older dota game where personal ppl host the game. got problems like if the host lag, everybody will lag, prompting everybody to scold "omg noob host". if the other players is far away from the host, they will lag, but the host won't, giving him an unfair advantage. if tengah syok2 main got kuat kill then sandeli the host leave, the game will end right there also. and it's easier for the host to rig the game with cheats and hax since they control the map being played. lidat lor.

not sure how valve gonna fix it but i heard LoL got a certain degree of success at it by dumbing the game down abit (dun scold me LoL players >__<), making it easier and less punishment. it's still fun, although usually when u are at the winning side, trollin the losers lol. if u are at the bad end of the stick really need to be thick skinned and learn to not take anything/anyone seriously and learn to use the ignore function on the trolls

the easy mode will be made more newbie friendly i guess while the "pro" players can always stick with the "non-easy" mode and rage all they want in there.

eh wait this is a hon tered why we talking about dota2?

well there's an easy mode (EM) in HoN as well (called casual mode/CM) but the problem with multiple game mode is the rest of the player will look down on those who play the easy mode and will refer to them as "noob mode" etc. this is a problem that originates back from dota's easy mode and still exists in HoN's casual mode although it have been reworked from the easy mode that just blindly gives extra gold and experience to a more detailed design abit similar to LoL (faster progession to midgame, more reward on kill, less punishment on death and denies). i think the new casual mode is actually good, being gank oriented (hero killing) rather than farming/laning oriented and actually ends up faster than normal game. but since it's not as balanced as normal mode and is easier (arguably) it's still is looked down upon and the "noob mode" perspective still exists. problems exist when players who plays alot of CM wants to join a normal mode game they will either get kicked just like that or being flamed when they did any mistakes. elitism in dota genre is pretty bad, especially in HoN where every stats is recorded.

also i think valve said that they going to keep dota 2's gameplay as close as possible to the original and based word that is passed around, icefrog is really particular about keeping it that way. so im not sure how they are going to improve this issue. one thing they are working on i think is about coaching/mentoring system. we'll see how they'll fare i guess. surely valve will got a thing or two up their sleeves

think we nid to do a roll call for active players. think nid to list based on gayrena or international server. i play on international server and mine is legacy account so i don't need to buy heroes, save for the Early Access ones. havent played my gayrena account for a long while ady. whats your nick?

playing both gayrena and international, love international more coz of better server performance, and always play gayrena in the cc coz that cc got GCA which means i am legacy when playing there

... the servers in Gayrena is not that bad, I always get 30-50ms in their servers on unifi. if streamyx... no nid to play, delay 3 seconds every game.

there's quite a few problematic server's frm SG this few days, everyone will dc from the server on starting and eventhou u can recon back, it became unplayable

int jpn server ping around 150-200 but just as smooth(maybe smoother) than myvip server oso last time i checked. even 200+ ping on usw servers still playable.

the bug makes him not only unbeatable but godlike. when using ulti and split him into 2 wolves, you can get potentially infinite stats by pressing "D" a lot of times (+23 to all stats each press). the result is wolves with hundred of thousands of hp, hundreds regen per second, 99% damage reduction and each hit can knock out kongor and even the throne/tree.

aside of the twin breath he's nothing like jakiro. the ulti is almost a hybrid of meepo's and pandaren's ulti.

the ult probably good for farming and nuking as u can be at 2 place at once and each of the wolves got their own nukes. but they have no items and they lose the carry capability of gemini's 3rd skill. also they are harder to use since u nid to micro and like meepo's clones, if either one of the wolf dies, gemini dies. maybe thats why.

agreed that 2Mbps streamyx will have problems with g.hon

damn, just played a game where 175x MMR players didnt learn tundra 1st skill and 2nd skill, and go 3rd + stats.. and also a 17xx that says hag is not a ganker, is a hard carry, therefore he will not gank (he was middle lane)

Hmm, in international, my account has all the heroes unlocked by default.. but probably because I purchased my account when intHoN was p2p.

Was trying Gayrena for a bit yesterday, only had 20 heroes or something.
Was told to have to unlock them 1 by 1 by buying them.

My account in Gayrena is Basic and verified. What does that mean?

u need to contact s2 support and asking them to change your account status to legacy in gayarena, but not sure what is the impact to your current int HoN.

basic cannot report players/create pub games
verified can play "verified only" games which have much less noobs/leavers as reaching that need $ or play some time till lvl 5, leavers will get too much disconnects before reaching that lvl

and to play all heroes in gayrena, check your nearest cybercafe to know if they got GCA, a red flying spaghetti monster icon in computer in the status bar, if got that, playing in that cybercafe will be able to play all heroes

email support at s2games dot com and ask them to convert your account to legacy. but by doing so, u will nt be able to play all heroes in international hon I think. saw prepurchasers saying that in the flying spaghetti monster hon forum.

I just tried stacking 4 steamboots, 1 whispering helm, 1 riftshards on maliken. Attack speed was damn fast and my damage was very high. lots of HP too. not bad not bad.

oh i have heard about it. wondering if theres any other items that is more cost effective than steamboots regarding to stats and aspd (since the mspd is wasted). what other heroes u think can stack steamboots viably? pred? ra?

hammerstorm is good coz his ulti is increase base damage which makes steamboots very good choice on him. stacking runed axe is fun too haha

won a game but lost 2 last night cus got 2 nub teammates. got one feeding dampeer got the nerve to whine to the opposition about my 4 steamboots. then one of the opponent retorted saying "u havent even finished your boots dampeer". priceless. heheh.

all and all i think its a good strat, workable mainly for the cheap components. the wasted boots cost can be viewed as a recipe since it gives +4 stats and +10 aspd.

u got keeper? keeper is imba at pushing too. can tank as good/maybe better, can aoe disable, can jungle and invis as well. also got carry-ish potential. last night had to fight one good keeper. while we are trying to stop a 4 man push in one lane keeper just solo push another like a bawse.

i never spent gold coins in the game before so no .. keeper very boring hero, need farm forest in early game, then when team fight press ulti and auto attack. to me very boring. balphagore nicer, his ulti really good, easy to get quad kill when have 100 charge

yesterday i try to play with 300ms delay and you will feel kinda delay for 1 or 2 second and it really bad when you're using hero like dampeer or pyro since it require you to shift + skill when ganking.

maybe it's time to move to g.HoN bro hehehe
