Sadly in Malaysia, there's no App marketplace here. A lot of Microsoft's other services for WP7 aren't available here either. I guess it's no surprise that it isn't very popular in Malaysia even though it's such a good OS.
*
yeah sad no marketplace in Msia, but still can use marketplace from another country. for services that can be used in Msia, lets hope our local dev make it for us. nod.gif

They all practically just put WP7 inside of N9 and yet in the video make it seem like the design is exclusively for WP7 lol doh.gif

I hope Nokia will eventually implement the Swipe-UI into their WP7. Personally, I think the N9's Swipe-UI would mesh very very very well with WP7 OS, since a lot of WP7 apps already incorporate virtual buttons within the Panorama style swiping for apps.

The homescreen can perhaps look something like this.

India also is a more important market to Nokia than Malaysia. So sad.

Nokia is Olympic Brand in India, mah... Over 60% market share in mobile phone market.

Plus India is rich and poor enough for Nokia to execute both the Smartphone and Feature Phone strategy at once.

Though I'm still annoyed that we can't get Lumia 800 this year... What's worse is that it will likely won't even be January, but maybe February or March instead.

If you noticed, Nokia will not release N9 in important market areas. Like the U.S, they do not have the N9, because Nokia wants to push Windows Phone kao kao in those important markets. They only reserve N9 to not-so-important markets... like Malaysia sweat.gif

Added on November 19, 2011, 9:27 pmLumia 800 released in HK for around 4400HKD, that works out to be about RM1800. Pretty sure that's the price we'll see in Malaysia if they ever release it here.

If you don't mind to get it from Singapore, you can wait till around December. During the 800 launch I'm pretty sure (but not 100%) that it is announced Singapore will get the phone by end of this year.

Added on November 21, 2011, 10:05 amActually if you think about it, RM1800 for such a good build quality is considered cheap already. You have to understand that what makes a phone cheap or expensive is the build quality, the specifications such as dual-core chips etc don't cost the manufacturers a lot of money. That's why you'll see that most Android phones do not compete with the Iphone4 in terms of build quality, because it's too expensive for them. They just put more powerful chips to compete, which cost less.

The 800's build quality is really superb with its price, considering that the build quality is just as good as Iphone4. If Nokia can put dual core inside, they will definitely do it at the same price, but problem is WP7.5 still doesn't support dual core. Need to wait at least until middle next year I believe, but most probably WP8 will come with Windows 8, around Q3/4 next year.
