I did have some chats with people there and headhunters looking for people. The salary seems attractive (6-figure annual salary for management positions) and the opportunities for growth is there since this is their offshoring strategy. 18-day holiday was a lot lower than what I was getting from the other energy company I worked at though. Haven't heard back from the headhunter though.

usually the manager (your future boss) will interview you & will decide whether to hire you or not..assuming hiring manager have the control to hire you, HR just being there to manage the hiring process..meaning u have to tackle the manager, impressed him/her la..

so, how's BP pay range as compare with shell ?

between, in shell there's IT embedded in the business(means they work with engineers) as well as IT on the global organization(means do purely IT stuff), the current BP organization in KL, is it IT in the business or IT Global Org ?

im not sure bout the pay range - i was contractor with shell previously. but i think its about the same.
also BP is growing in MY, so they open up alots of opportunity.
from my understanding, BP planned moving to the east (same as shell). to hire more east people :
-high quality - dependable
-medium pay rate
BP also have 3rd party org, accenture,IBM & so on. and just so u know, BP oil are more then shell smile.gif

you mean BP's oil reserve is more than shell ?

east is not necessarily Malaysia wink.gif Maybe now, but once the system stabilize, time to handover to a more low cost effective country(not just IT but also engineering)...hehehe
the only company that dont do outsourcing is Exxon. They really prefer in-house support. ( as far as I know from my friends...)

shell is a good place to start for freshies, but as you go to become experience person, you will find that shell is losing the remuneration game. again im comparing globally, not just in Malaysia smile.gif again this is for technical people ( geologists, petrophysics, reservoir engineers, rotating equipments....) and not commercial ones ( IT, Contracts & Procurement, HR...) because for commercials, i believe other MNC can match their pay as well...or even better. wink.gif

hahaha...having more oil reserves or cash flow doesnt mean BP will dump it into malaysia as u need to know if malaysia is a key country for BP to growth or not....good example is Exxon, the world super major also didnt really keen to expend(in fact they are downsizing) in malaysia as well as they are happy with their existing Upstream business...i believe the reason why all major O&G still operate their shared centre here is because we are cheap and also because the MSC tax exemption is too good for them....now my friend, the trend is slowly shifting to India (more talents and cheap) for technical and also manila shared centres are catching up and fast... nod.gif
