When a group of unprepared authority took him on the stretcher (without neck brace). It was said, Marco's body fell into a ditch or a drain and that resulted of his death.

Photos n vids was taken but the authorities took it all. Now Sepang organisers is under big investigation.

If you have a seriously broken neck or head injury, you CAN die - even if it's a drop of 1 feet.

I think Omara opened a thread saying Indon news blamed Malaysian authorities for not handling this situation better, that resulted in Simoncelli's death.
I guess they could be right after all.

padan muka SIC. malaysians often took things for granted.

yes, ajal is ajal but the cause of death also important. if I kill someone, can I tell the cops "dah ajal dia, nak buat macam mana?" and get away?

This is dumb, SIC is going to be grilled for it. Even in football, when a player suffers a head injury, or is concussed, he is not moved, and a paramedic is rushed to look at him on the field before anything else. From the video it sure looks like they just rushed him onto the stretcher, and even then managed to drop him!?! This is really going to tarnish the image of M'sia as a motor sport destination. Don't be surprised if the motogp and F1 pull out next season if the paramedics were partially responsible.

You're wrong.
If you have serious injuries, neck and head injuries, your vital organs damaged, a fall like that can bring serious consequences!
They should really have secured him first. There wasn't a need to rush like they did.
Make sure he's secured, lift him carefully to safety.

yeah i think now it's up for the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

anyways i think eventhough this thread is already labeled as rumors its better if TS remove the "fell into ditch" part. judging from the video clearly the fall is exaggerated.

race was red flagged by the officials for that reason, so that they don't need to rush and he can get immediate medical attention. I don't see a paramedic or a doctor anywhere in the footage. It looks like they sent a bunch of part time race stewards to put him on a stretcher and carry him to the ambulance. Not making a blunt accusation, but that looks like the case from the video.

Considering the serious nature of the accident, moving him without securing him or assessing his condition was a big mistake. Dropping him is unbelievable.

he's already dead from the impact. some rumours say he might went blank on the bike and fell off, thats why u cant see him struggling to release his body from the bike coz usually pro rider did that when they involve in accident.

True. I don't think there was a doctor at the scene to inspect the severity of his injuries before they put him onto the stretcher.
It looks as if they rushed.

According to my foreign friends who attended the GP,your assessment is correct.

They rushed to drag the body onto the stretcher and when they lifted him it wasn't synchronized so he fell headfirst on the ground.

Some of the people who attended are hardcore GP fans who travel simply to attend and they witnessed everything as it wasn't far from the main grandstand using binoculars.

An autopsy will reveal the exact cause of death, but whatever it is, moving him without securing him, and not assessing his condition before moving him is quite simply dumb as hell. I'm not a doctor, but i think i've seen enough sporting injuries where paramedics actually do the right thing, and this by any means was nowhere near what should have been done considering the nature and severity of the accident.

Really not professional as a medic, they are there to save people not to make the condition more worst. Maybe without proper preparation and lack of training. Shameful

Judging from their actions, I believe they weren't medics. I assume they were race stewards that lacked the knowledge to deal with the situation.

they are track medics.

BBC MotoGP presenter Matt Roberts said: "Marco lost his helmet in the crash. The officials said that, when the track medics got to him, he was in cardiac arrest. They tried to resuscitate him in the ambulance and the medical centre.

even if the autopsy can prove his death was caused by the reckless paramedic team, i believe they will be more sugar coating on it. SIC was hold by major person in Malaysia, if MotoGP opt to get rid Malaysia from their calendar it will be a huge loss. Government won't let that to happen.

Anyway, i do hope justice will prevail.

Compared to malaysia, wheres the nearest hospital to sepang?
*
I read somewhere that there is a track hospital / medical centre in case such incidents happened, but not as well equipped as a normal hospital.

And the nearest one should be... Nilai Town, I guess. Not sure whether Sepang area has one. If go Putrajaya.... Would be much further....

dey, simoncelli was still alive la after he was brought into the ambulance. fighting with his live for about 40 minutes before dead.

if the noob-medic was to be blame, he would be dead on the spot they 'drop' him before they put it in the ambulance.

A knock to the head will leave you concussed. very good example is what happened to Drogba earlier this year.

Even in that situation, he was not moved. They treated him on the field, and only moved him several minutes later. Moving him without securing his neck, and dropping him after such a severe accident is just plain unacceptable. The one known fact is that he was not dead on the track. He was alive when the paramedics/stewards got to him, and was alive when they got him into the ambulance.

In the First Place, these Incompetent Baffoons should not move Simonelli... They should have waited for the ambulance and medical team to arrive... After securing him properly, then move him to seek proper medical attention...

SIC has alot to explain bcos track personel lack the knowledge and experience in adminstrating the proper Medical Procedures...

Also to drop an Injured Person from a Stretcher in no excuse!!!

personally i would refrain to judge how they should handle the situation as im no expert. possibly there's a need to rush since the official statement said he has a cardiac arrest at the time the medics get to him. no offense but i'd trust the judgement of trained personnel who analyzes the situation on site better compared to emotional fans watching a video. although the fall is unfortunate i think it's stupid to blame someone for falling especially when they are on a rush to save a person's live.

Yup...i suspect so.

But in incident like this, usually an ambulance car will get into the circuit and let the motogp highest medic officials to look onto the victim.

They will decide what to do. Wether to move him and how to do it.

This.

However, I doubt an autopsy would do much as I believe the condition of the body is really serious. Bikes went on top of him. However the video is enough to tarnish us.

Well, that is partially the track's fault - the other half was on the car design and the 5 million bounty if you start from the back and win the race.

Marco Simoncelli succumbs to injuries at Sepang

Sunday, 23 October 2011

On Sunday 23rd October, during the MotoGP race at the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit, San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Italian rider Marco Simoncelli suffered a serious accident wherein he sustained critical injuries.

The race was stopped immediately with the red flag and Simoncelli was transported by ambulance to the circuit medical centre where the medical staff worked to resuscitate him.

Despite their efforts, Marco sadly succumbed to his injuries at 4:56pm local time.

Everyone involved in MotoGP extends its deepest condolences to Marco’s family, friends and team at this tragic loss.

Those wishing to extend their condolences may do so at the following link:

Simoncelli

and normally for f1 and motogp if there is an accident victim requiring hospitalisation, helicopters would be used... they will be airlifted...

I'm so stunt after watching the accident right in my face.! Why Marco?! I still don't understand.! Why Marco can't recover after the corner? I see him fall on to his right after the corner and did not recover up.

Because of the crash he had during the race, in which he was hit by other riders, he suffered a very serious trauma to the head, to the neck and the chest. When our medical staff got to him he was unconscious. In the ambulance because there was a cardiac arrest they started CPR (cardiac pulmonary resuscitation). Immediately in the Medical Centre, with the help also of the Doctor of our staff at the Clinica Mobile and local Doctors, he was intubated and it was possible to take off some blood from the thorax. The CPR was continued for 45 minutes because we tried to help him for as long as we thought it was possible. Unfortunately it was not possible to help him and at 16:56 (local time) we had to declare he was dead.”

yeah yeah.. so amusing la, when actually the western is start to point finger at malaysian..

whatever it is , its always a MALAYSIAN for u.. why dont u ask the western how would they feel about this accident..

most of them , i mean MOST !!! they say fu.ck the malaysian...
*
the way i see it now only malaysians are the one who is busy pointing fingers (not surprising really). influential foreigner like the one in the thread i just posted know better than to find blames and instead proposes ideas on how to prevent it in the future. and talk is cheap my friend. i can just as easily say that most westerners accept the fact that it's a terrible accident instead of raging at malaysia for killing their favorite rider.

this is a huge mistake with a cost of human live.
hope that SIC learnt from this lesson, and improve.
and make an apology statement for whatever possible reason that causes his death.
we as a malaysian really felt sorry for the bad news.

anyways i think eventhough this thread is already labeled as rumors its better if TS remove the "fell into ditch" part. judging from the video clearly the fall is exaggerated.

1. Jews did it /Israel
2. The distance killed him (transportation to hospital)
3. There were not professional medics

To come up with the solution, you need to find the source of the problem. In this case, we should blame the contractors who built that circuit. After all, how dare they put a bump there which made the paramedics fall.

Actually if u see the video, simoncelli amik corner cecah tlige sampai his shoulder hit the ground which cause hit to fall on the right side.. That time his helmet also knocked the ground which cause a concussion.. He probably already unconcious at that time. That why he cannot recovered after the corner.. So blame him.. He is the one yg amik corner cecah tlige.. The paramedic just trying to help..

yeah next time they should only pick those who have a track record of never skid and/or fall before in their life (or are able to resist pushing force from an indonesian djin, depending on your perspective) as track medics. i honestly think lots of people in this thread should apply for the position judging from their insight.

or instead of having doctor rush to check the condition first see whether can simply lift up or not.sked got tulang patah, angkat terus mati.
BTW have you guys seen how senna died? the paramedic all came rush to him rather than simply lift him, that is the proper way, let medic examine first,

They shouldn't carry him and ran trough the field.. coz there's so many grass root that can trip the medic personnel as proven in the video.. It indicates that emergency ambulance is not accessible from anywhere, but only from certain route and still cannot stop near the accident location.. It needs people to carry it to ambulance.

QUOTE(zeese @ Oct 25 2011, 02:53 PM)
The shouldn't carry him and run trought the field.. coz there's so many grass root that can trip the medic as proven in the video..  It indicates that Emergency ambulance are not accessible from anywhere, but only from certain route only and cannot stop nearby the accident location..
*
Medic car shud be rdy from the pit and can use the track to get to the location. Thats the use of the red flag situation.

do u mean an ambulance by "medic car"? i think i saw one in the video. and i think i saw few race medic there too. they seems to decide that it's best to put simonceli on a stretcher to carry him into the ambulance. am i wrong?

so the medical staff and the race organizers are all incompetent fools.

an ambulance should be in the pits ready for any emergency. but i believe what the medical staff has done is more than sufficient, as they did what other medical personnel in the other circuits would have done in an event like this.

there should be one leader, to give out order so that they work as a team
u can c that the person who fell was nervous/chuak/panic
the leader should tell them to stay calm n don't run
if they did run, they could only save around 10 seconds

Maybe can at least google what to do with "first aid for neck injury" before making funny comments.

I thought not to touch the victim with suspected neck injury and wait for expert is the things that kept being taught in first aid even in primary school.

The injured neck or spine will cause permanent damage and even death if not handled properly. Not to mention another fall.

he died from head, neck and chest injuries and lost his helmet. Not to forget, he was hit by two speeding top notch bikes.

there's a very small chance to live if u consider those factors, let us being logic in this. don't put all the blame to the medics team. i'm sure they weren't bunch of incompetent workers. they must prepared for this kind of situation before.

Why nobody blame Marco for not doing a proper cornering which resulted in the accident happening in the first place?

SIC track problem again? Or operator error?

So if I accident now and i died because ambulance came let is ambulance fault? Partly yes because if ambulance arrive earlier I might be saved but if I din accident at all then I wouldn't be in such a situation.

My point is, no point blaming one party when everybody, includin the driver himself, is to be blamed. What matters now is how to improve those idiotic SIC personnel.

Damage has been done. My dua cent.

The urgency of the paramedics is appalling. When they see him motionless and unresponsive, the first thing to do is to check whether he is breathing. If he isn't, CPR needs to be initiated and him intubated there and then.
The brain only lasts 4 minutes without oxygen. So, he is most probably already dead by the time he reached the ambulance. doh.gif

Opinion from a motorsport fan ... just my dua sen.

The tered seems to derailed a bit ... from the video that showed that the on-track temporary marshall/track medic (not steward as someone wrote) mishandling the situation, which might or might not had added/contributed to the seriousness of Marco's injury which ended in fatality ... to people who wrote about accidents in motorsports are inevitable, thus stop blaming anybody.

As the Big Boss has already spoken, the main issue is, it's unbelievable the proper procedure wasn't followed. Expert or no expert, it's common sense to avoid aggravating the injury already sustained ... especially when one's not an expert, which leads to ... if the track medics in the captured video are really trained medically, the way they acted, it's inconceivable!

Some people said, if don't move, then leave him on the hot track surface or else other bikes will crash into him again? Non-racing fans' comments, I guess. As maranello55 already repeated more than once, there's a purpose for every color of flag during races. RED = STOP, immediately, no need to go around the circuit to get back to the pit. It's not yellow flag. So, the track medics should know that there's no rush to retrieve or pull Marco's injured body to the side of track WITHOUT first accessing the injury. There wasn't any danger of petrol-tank exploding, was there? (in which case, it's understandable to move elsewhere quickly)

Did they really underwent training or they just watch previous racing accidents where track marshall rush here n there to clean up the track (when the race wasn't red-flagged)? Shadow Kun asked about medic car ... in F1, there's a medic car (manned by an official full-time medical professional, n a fast driver) usually a fast supercar, kinda like a recon, to get to the scene of the accidents quickly before the ambulance in order to access the situation and recommend the action taken when support arrives.

So, the main contention is how much training was the 'track medics' given by the organizer? If the organizer did perform their part, then who could be held accountable if the autopsy shows the cause of death could be traced back to the drop? I guess we'll have to wait for the formal inquiry report. Until then, watching the video again ... haih, memang memalukan. Marco 'might' had been fatally injured before being moved (judging from the crash video), but don't lah add to it.

QUOTE(maranello55 @ Oct 25 2011, 03:13 PM)
fan of the sports....i have my own opinion after years following it. No harm intended.  smile.gif
Listen and respect to this senior's opinion.

QUOTE(PVCpipe @ Oct 25 2011, 03:59 PM)
its not our fault la....  its the motogp fault coz no cincai2 giv advice when we build the track
Sepang International Circuit is the designed in mind for F1. It's the 1st circuit to be allowed to use F1 in its name. Dunno why now it's not officially called Sepang F1 International Circuit any longer, or it still is? And IMHO, ur other comments are quite invalid, sorry.

QUOTE(Alviano @ Oct 25 2011, 04:46 PM)
Maybe can at least google what to do with "first aid for neck injury" before making funny comments.
I thought not to touch the victim with suspected neck injury and wait for expert is the things that kept being taught in first aid even in primary school.
The injured neck or spine will cause permanent damage and even death if not handled properly.  Not to mention another fall.
Luckily, more than several do know the proper procedure to treat major injury, else I dun wanna be involved in a major accidents (but recoverable) on Malaysian roads.

QUOTE(supermoto @ Oct 25 2011, 04:47 PM)

QUOTE(Shadow Kun @ Oct 25 2011, 04:54 PM)
wha i confuse now SIC is tat guy or SIC is Sepang International Circuit?
supermoto successfully trolled ... some.
It does seem tragically fated (for those who believed in it), ... that Super Sic won his 250cc championchip 1st at Sepang ... and then ironically met his lowest end here too, altho going out while doing what he like best, racing ...

I just hope safety in all motorsport will still improve a thousand fold. After a lull of minor accidents only (excluding last week's Dan Wheldon's fatal accident, and Robert Kubica's side-rally, and Massa's concussion...I guess I know more about F1 only), we forgot how dangerous these sports could still be.
