For VDO, after drive at high speed then appear check engine light are normally cause by the faulty speed sensor. It is located behind our speedometer. Very cheap only, I DIY changed mine before and the problem gone.

it can't be O2 sensor, coz you said the problem appear over 3k rpm, means that time the ECU stop reading signal from O2 sensor already.

Once pass 3k..the only thing that came to mind was the O2 sensor cuz that cuts off at 3k blush.gif

Speed sensor? what does it look like?what do i need to look for and diy? also how much? so far your solution seems the most promising..

is it that thing that looks like a fuse, near the star ground point?

Could be for the company car car at I drove previously also. The check light appear when I drove above 100 km/h for some minutes.

Just got the ride lowered by using APM Performax Springs couple with APM OEM absorbers.....anyone using these springs and is it really true that these springs will soften like hell after 6 month or so?

I recheck some feedbacks from previous threads and people say these APM springs are like mother of all saggy springs, lousy quality and so on....

Spring or absorber ? I use APM Performax absorber and it really lousy quality, lose it's dampening capabilities after 6 or 9 months. Now it's like no absorber already, even on highway my car is bouncing up and down like riding a horse.. doh.gif

The spring is thick or not? If thick I don't think it will easily saggy.

HID itself already almost 200..+ good quality fog lamps + labour..within RM350 can done.. wink.gif

Absorbers aren't the APM Performax ones, just the standard OEM ones without the Performax name...because that's what on the box says....total for 4 (2 oils and 2 gas at RM280)

Spring thickness should be better compared to the old ones but here's the pictures of the APM Performax Sport Springs and can't judge much....

Front (lowered by 2.5 fingers, can confirm)
Front

Rear (lowered by 0.5 fingers in think)
Rear

Ride is hard but i like that, feels firm and stable....compared to the old springs and absorbers..

You use lowered spring of coz will be harder but the best part is when cornering very stable. thumbup.gif

Looks thick enough, about the same as mine.

So far, it's been good and considered i got them springs at RM130 for 4 at spare part shop...just hope there aren't any imitation ones only....

Just love the firm feeling on the highways and during bends when exiting highways.....

Just hope anyone who uses these springs can give feedback would be much fun.....

I can't find the picture of it. But is a black plastic part with 2 legs screwed behind our speedometer. The speed sensor is also known as Reed Switch. Is cheap only if u get it from spare part shop... Below 30 bucks i guess. If this sensor is totally dead, then your car might experience stalling when u suddenly decelerate after driving at high speed. For DIY, u need to know how to remove the dashboard and the meter cluster.

I not sure if MMC got this sensor or not, mine is VDO. Since Wira changed to VDO ECU, it has a lot more sensors than before. As the name of this sensor, the ECU directly read vehicle speed from this sensor. I guess it helps ECU to determine when for close loop or open loop system.

Found it..sure its a reed switch? Reed switches are usually magnetic in nature, this fella got no shielding at all..
yup, i think youre right. VSS used to determine open loop, closed loop operation which is why mine shows up at 3k rpm, which is the switch point from closed to open loop.

Hope your right, cuz if you are, youre the only person who managed to solve my problem compared to my sifu mechanic, few proton guys with their pdt's and my usual kaki kereta mamak shop gang.

either the absorber rosak or the absorber mounting rosak. Tyre shop should be able to tell you the answer accurately.

is there an aeroback Lancer?? Lancer which Wira was based from?

today saw one Lancer, judging by it's tail lamp, but then saw it's side, looks like Wira aeroback. if it's really Wira aeroback, quite a lot modification been done to put the whole tail lamp to it's body..
