Yup the opening menu we have to choose our selection of menu languages there is no English. I have tried a couple languages

Example : If we choose German, the menu are in German and when I choose the language configure menu there will be 3 options but watching the movie in English, the German subs appear and can't be turn off.

Could you kndly re-checked yours. TQ brother

The disc at home town and I only back on 4/Nov, I can check for you after that. But I can quite sure it came with English subtitle, as I remember the only film I buy don't have English subtitle is Apocalypse Now which don't even have English Menu.

I guarantee I watch it in English Audio, I won't watch in others language as this is English film.

Can't even select subtitle from the player remote control subtitle button?

Go back I will check again, in my memory, it got English selection for menu.

I just check back what I write in my blog, I had written "Beside this, I like to point out the disc is region FREE which means play everywhere and the main menu is option for you to choose what languages to start of, means they is no worried on menu selection." I write this sentence previously which obvious means I can 100% sure the disc menu can start with English.

Maybe your copy is different than mine? Is your disc look identical like below?

Bro Naz & Ronald Kwok, the LOTR LE still on sale or not? I don't see it in Amz CA page anymore!
*
Sorry Jenn, the LOTR EE was only on sale for 1 day as a deal of the day (sometime in October, during that period another deal was the Stanley Kubrick collection, remember?) Your best bet is to wait for the coming BF sale.

BTW, I just watch Kurosawa's classic, Rashomom last night (no, not in BD HD but just my old DVD in B&W and 1.0 mono) where the same event is described differently by 4 different people with different motives or otherwise. So what is truth? Is it just what you believe is true? This brings us to the Trainspotting subtitle issue, I think both bro Andrew and naz are speaking the truth. From my deduction from the posts here, there is English menu and film in English audio, it also has English subtitle but not both at the same time. English subtitle for other languages audio and English audio with other languages subtitle but not English subtitle for English audio. rclxub.gif Not that our bros here have any ulterior motives. OK not a very good analogy.

Anyway, this may be one of the setbacks of ordering from non-English Amazon sites. I may be wrong though!

Do you mean your Rashomom DVD also have this kind of situation. If listening in Japanese got English subs but if choose English audio there is no subs or other language subs.

Yeah this is kinda upsetting for me. As I'm a bit particular with this kind of matter. As I like to watch movies in their original language with subs. Even if buying them the title on the cover must be the original one

Example : Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes and there is no English title on the cover I won't buy it even how beautiful it is. doh.gif

It seems your copy is different than mine, I can choose English at beginning, not sure you can claim a new version or not.

I seen your last picture, and they is a sticker paste on it showing "untertitel bel engl. ton nicht ausblendbar" which seems means English subtitle cannot appear in English audio.
** untertitel - subtitle, nicht ausblendbar - can not be suppressed, ton - tone? (Audio?) I don't know what the meaning of bel.

High possible, either nazmanson getting a newer release copy or defect copy which in wrong record selection, as it seems it not proper follow what had been print on back.
