QUOTE(JoBigShow @ Dec 14 2011, 07:06 PM) Man Utd need to take the pressure off Wayne Rooney says Paul Ince we only used Rooney there for 2 games when even Carrick wasn't available. Hardly overused. That's what using the squad depth means.SOURCE: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/16171939.stm I half-ly agree with him, WR10 has been stressed out in the CM role for quite some time now and if money allows it, it's better not to gamble on the recovery of the current injured players and channel this monetary source into the Jan transfers. But does it reflect wisdom? No. But provides assurance and easy quick fix, yes. The reason above some might decline to admit is partially fueling the debate of this 'is it a go for the Jan transfers VS. recovering injured players and respect SAF wisdom.' Well, SAF resisted the urge to bring anyone in despite Hargreaves and Saha out for half/most seasons in the past. He might well do the same here. Carrick-Giggs/Jones/Gibson. Now that the news have settled down, it isn't as bad looking. Park and Rooney can cover there a few games. And we'll have Cleverley and Ando back in the coming two months. It's not perfect, but it's not the end of the world. Could definitely do with another addition though, but it's not easy to find and attempt to get the right players in January. In 05/06 it was similar. Keane left midway in the 1st half of that season. We got knocked out of the CL in the group stage. Scholes got that eye problem and had to rest for half a season. And we had to rely on O'Shea-Giggs for the remaining of that season with Fletcher that time only useful in the big games. We end up 2nd in the league but had the most points looking at games in that 2nd half of that season. We have better and more options to choose from this time around. I could well see SAF doing nothing about it. It's not because of his ego/pride, but he trusts his players and circumstances surrounding January transfers is not ideal. |

Since we are no more in champion league, maybe the squad good enough to maintain top 2 in the league
Too bad we have to face City as this early in FA Cup, struggle to play them when all player still available so don't think can win with current squad |

Meh, no confidence in the team at all eh?
Like someone highlighted, the problem with 1-0 wins were, no finishers. The built up plays were no problem. Which means our midfield cope just fine. The problem was we wasted many chances. I do think that anyone could see that. IMO, bringing in a new CM would cause problems afterwards. That is why we have such a big squad compared to others. And, AFAIK, SAF trusts his players. Sure, we didn't qualify for the UCL knockout stages this season but it's not like that's the end of the world. Some teams couldn't even qualify for Europa League. I wonder how they would feel. As for City, their rough matches are just about coming up. We have done with ours and we will see how they fare against the better teams. Now, just take a look at this table. And digest the stats yourselves. ![]() We aren't doing that bad, are we? This post has been edited by boxsystem: Dec 15 2011, 07:19 AM |

suddenly many hail Torres here after we've been labeled him flop all this long
we still have Kiko and Welbeck. anyway lucky us, we don't have any african player in the first team. lets see how chelsea city etc will cope with absence of the likes of yaya toure and drogba |

Can someone please justify why we need Torres anyway? Everyone thought Chelsea strikers pairing would be lethal with Drogba and Torres. Instead, it is the other way around.
They are having a tough time to accomodate him. Why should we spend 20m on something that we don't really need? It's better to use that money to buy someone in MF like Modric. That said, we are coping fine with our squad members. |

im not sure whats the fuss with torres, both here and the pools thread and the blues thread.
one blue poster pointed out clearly why he wont move but many seem to be lost.yeah he is not playing much but as far as this season is concerned he aint moving la.if he did move then avb may be looking at the door even faster then his predecessors.
