there is no 3G version available for TP yet..dont bother with misleading information

anyway, not satisfied with TP, ignore it and go for something else. me, i hope my unit will be fine and serve me well.

i dont really care about GPS especially on 10" as long as the Google Maps working.
if my unit has faulty spots, i just maybe return it and get macbook air then wait for another tablet

I was informed by a reliable source, that in december, a batch was sent out to retailers in SEA. But it was recalled due to 'faulty hardware'. This was in early december. The retailer already had the item in the warehouse then, and he already gave me the price, but it was recalled before the US retailers had it on sale. He actually advised me to hold out first, instead of pre-ordering, even at the expense of his commission.

And yes, I have been voting with my wallet. Haven't spent on a tablet yet because to be honest, they are still a luxury item for me and I don't see why I should pay a premium (over a netbook) for a half baked item, okay I'm being critical at half baked, but I mean at least it should work as intended.

Furthermore, the price of the item, would already factor in the 'product return' and 'warranty'. My experience with service centers is that ASUS is one of the worst. So in my view I'm paying similar price for an item that basically has half a year warranty, because I'm expecting if anything goes wrong the item goes into RMA for half a year.

In addition, ASUS has never given me an extension on the warranty for the period that the item has been in service. If its a week, 2 weeks, I don't care if theres an extension or not. But for me, 2 items for 6 months and my brother's laptop, and no extension for these. Disappointing.

Thats because ASUS singapore is a joke.
With dock it's SGD900. So it's slightly less than us.

I got my Prime two days ago during the launch at Suntec Singapore. I paid $699 as being one of the people to receive an invite via FB. It went smooth, I was 6th in line. The 100 'winners' were able to choose color and also received a free transleeve (which works great). We were also asked if we were interested in the dock, though they had said up front that the dock would not be available. As I paid cash, I came a few dollars short so I skipped the dock for now.

Overall impression is great. It really plays all media (720p/1080p .mkv's) smooth without hickups. I did notice a few ICS related issues; especially in the marketplace.

I am a first time Android user, so I have to get used to the OS first. First impressions were that I expected a bit more of it (the OS).

I did notice a tiny bleed in the lower left corner, but nothing too serious and not noticable when I have it turned on. You only see it when the bootscreen is loading.

When removing the rubber thingies to be able to use the dock or transleeve I almost ruined the whole tablet. I used a fork, but incidentally also hooked on the border of the tab (metal)...so it got dented a tiny bit (again, not noticeable).

Wifi works fine, but I need to test it a bit more. Here I had speeds that are good enough for all that I will do with it. Used speedtest quite a few times in the hotel (don't know what line they have); downspeed was around 10mbps, upspeed also 10mbps....we all have crap connections in Msia anyway, so that will not be an issue I guess smile.gif.

Overall very happy, especially since the fact that I paid $699 for it (no dock) which is a good price...

i was reading the ASUS singapore's FB, looks like most people have problems is with the ICS update. don't hear that much about the usual hardware problems like wifi, light bleed.

GPS is a known issue, so i won't put much expectation on that.

Will find out soon when i get my hands on one myself i guess.. cross my fingers and pray to God that i get a good unit..

really reminds me of the days when HD2 just came out. There were 3 big problems then when it first released.
1. Volume button not working (hardware problem)
2. Dust in the screen (QA problem)
3. Camera pink spot (driver problem)

UP = RRP lor , "usual price"
Introductory price, is what will end up being the market rate.

But asus singapore is crap la, they enforce RRP onto some shops, while other shops no enforcement, can sell at 'IP'.

But i forsee as with the TF101, that in a few months time msia will be cheaper than sg.

if u source around, yes.

But at that time, msia will be cheaper. Here retailers don't give a rat's ass about RRP, here will find ways to reduce price without being fished out by asus.

ASUS promised a lot of things la.
When the TF101 came out, they assured that the dock could be used for future iterations of the tablet.

ROFL... looking back, it was just a load of BS.
