Erm, so you mean my company hasn't cancelled the insurance? The road tax is still valid and stick to the mirror. But I am not sure whether is it still insured or not...
*
Means you cannot buy insurance first if the current road tax has not been cancelled. To cancel just tear off the R/T and walk-in to JPJ for cancellation.

From what I know the company bought new car and then transfer the current insurance policy to the new car. .. is that possible?
How can I check whether my car is insured?

Hi All Sifus,

I have a motor which was fully paid but the shop did not update JPJ on the status ( was told by the shop it was done online but when I went to jpj I was told otherwise). Further, the shop did not provide me with the letter that state I have fully paid for the motor and the shop has closes since 2010. I have went JPJ for advise and according to them, I need to get a court order in order to change the ownership name.

Do you knows any law firms / runners that provide service for change of ownership which required a court order in Penang (preferably in island)? I have asked this in serious kopitiam and yet to received any reply.

Just done transfer of ownership on one of my car. I did it on my self. very simple, only need to go 2 different place:-
1. 8am morning que at puspakom to do inspection B5, make sure u do not have black tinted. Once your turn within 30mins can get everything done. Puspakom inspection fee RM30.
2. 2nd day go JPJ transfer name. Bring new owner photo copy IC. New owner must come too. Then fill in few pieces form. Once your turn can finish all process within 10 mins. JPJ transfer fee RM100

Do we need to do an appointment first for Puspakom Wangsa Maju? I need to change my old car to my daughter so she could build up her insurance NCD.

Just some friendly reminder if you transfer ur car ownership to ur daughter, yes she can bulit up the her NCD year by year. But if your current 55% NCD is not transfer to any of car that own by you then your 55% NCD will drop year by year until 0% in 5 years time.

At court, cheaper. Outside usually nearby law firm got. Their banner not big one, you have to see closely.

What are the procedures if I want to change the car owner from my father to me? It's a 18 years car so is not tied with any loan. Because of the age of the car and my father who is 67 years old, I think should change the name to start collecting NCD since there will be 30% anyway whenever I buy insurance.

can JPJ approve transfer if only the buyer bring the seller's signed transfer forms at counter? this is for the case the car dealer sell at cheap price hence buyer do the transfer without seller.

Wow, that is expensive. For voluntary charge of ownership, it should cost you rm100 + puspakom test, should be less than rm200 altogether if you're doing on your own.
