I did try on my father's laptop, which has XP instead of Vista (my laptop). I installed Kies on his laptop, and plugged in the USB, with the same result as with my laptop (can't detect the right drivers to install). Again, I deeply suspect the firmware is the culprit here, cuz there is a user who posted here previously that have no such problem until the upgrade to DZKJ2.

Hmm... Too bad... you would loose the latest firmware.

If you manage to save your files/data somewhere/somehow, you can always do a Factory Reset to clear up EVERYTHING, then you can dial *2767*3855#. Warning, you'll loose EVERYTHING, including data inside the internal sd.

I had MyKernel on 2.3.5 before. And last night I tried to upgrade to 2.3.6 but failed. Then I flashed back to DZKI1 kernel and tried to upgrade again. Successful.
Maybe you can try this method.

Now I'm gonna try the new method to root 2.3.6 before flashing to the Juffo's Custom ROM.

Thanks man, my phone is working alright, i am about to go do CWM update to the second version of custom ROM based on DZKJ2. I will use the CWM recovery method. I am sure it will work.

Since I have all my data backup, later I will try what you say, flash with Odin a 2.3.6, root it with the new method and then try to get custom ROM on it. Its time to play around and see any different results. Its the learning curve time for me on android. Somethings must try on own to understand what happens and how it works I guess.
Thanks for ur reply.

I9100G, can you update the 1st page with link for DZKJ2 aswell? Its for those who cant upgrade from phone and Kies.

I managed to update via phone but its after I removed MyKernel. And I'm having neverending problem with Kies on the PC.

Appreciate it! wink.gif

I'm not too keen with this method, since I have not backup any of my data yet, and I don't like to use Factory Reset if there is an alternative.

I think another method would be installing the driver manually, but with 8 drivers to install, and no reference points, it can be daunting. If there are people who are willing to check the corresponding drivers (can be found by clicking Driver Details under the Driver tab) for the Physical Device Object names (can be found on the pull-down list on Details tab) below, it would help us greatly in solving this problem. smile.gif

I've also experienced KIES connection problem which only can be solved after total reset which I've mentioned. As your Physical Device Object names, I cannot find it, I'm in Windows XP... Also, those device numbers are too general, might not be the same with other PC and probably wouldn't be much help.

I believe there are lots of applications on the market that can be used to save your Contacts and SMS into your internal SD. Then, data inside your internal SD can be moved to an external SD card. You can use wifi... but it is a little bit complicated

Just wondering, if I do factory reset, what data will get deleted? Will the apps that come originally with my phone (ie Kies Air, Polaris Office) still inside my phone after the reset?

If you update to 2.3.6, you can use the first method to root.

But, if you are interested in using custom kernel, then you might use MyGKernel, which support CWM and CIFS. Someone was saying that it was updated to 2.3.6, but still the posts showed it is 2.3.5 (DZKI1). You might go here to see how it fares, get advice from there;
