QUOTE(hermanchb @ Nov 12 2011, 03:17 PM) must be 2.3.6?? I don't think so. This method should be somewhat general for froyo and gingerbred, so i think it should work Until now only 2.3.6 users who reported success, but there's no non 2.3.6 users who failed either...

From my earlier post at Samsung GSII tread about my problem with installing the driver... QUOTE I think I figured out what's wrong with my I9100G. It seems that the drivers installed from Samsung has incompatible hardware ID with my phone after the firmware update to 2.3.6 DZKJ2. The drivers (7 Unknown Devices, 1 Comnone Suspend) identified by Driver Manager on my phone right now have the following Hardware ID:
USB\VID_1519
but the most of the INF files on the USB Driver folder have the following address for Hardware ID:
USB\VID_04E8
I guess this is why there is a problem when installing the driver. Does anyone else has the same problem with mine when connecting the I9100G to computer via USB using the latest Samsung firmware (DZKJ2)? EDIT: It seems that my computer have no problem recognize the phone though when it's on Download Mode, kinda weird. I guess it's more of the firmware problem than anything else... Thanks for the suggestion, but still didn't solve my problem, as my computer still can't recognize and install the proper drivers for my phone via USB, although I think I shouldn't have problem rooting using the second method. BTW, just curious, but will rooting solve the USB problem? Based on what I learned about rooting, I doubt it, but I wish to know others' opinions about this.

QUOTE(I9100G @ Nov 12 2011, 04:42 PM) Tried your method earlier, but the result is still the same. I checked with the device manager, and all of those devices said that the problem is that "There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.", even though I have installed the USB drivers inside my laptop. BTW, my phone's firmware is GINGERBREAD.DZKJ2, the one I downloaded using wifi via software update on my phone.

If you install KIES, there's a troubleshooting button which will basically repair and reinstall your driver. Maybe that will help

However, like I have mentioned previously, my laptop recognize my phone just fine when my phone is in download mode, so I highly suspect there's some sort of bug with Samsung's firmware. Well, guess if I want to root my phone, I have to do it the old fashioned way then.

Confuse confuse.Pening. I upgrade to 2.3.6. Used mykernel method to root. and used CWM recovery to install the first custom rom ( release yesterday and based on DZKJ1).
In about phone, it says Android version 2.3.5 Baseband version ....DZKJ2 Kernel version 2.6.3.5 Android-2.3.5@myGKernel # 5 Build number Juffo.DZKJ1
Is the baseband version supposed to show DZKJ2? Also I tot flashing ROM via CWM will also change the kernel, but seem the kernel is original.
Will ask juffo in xda if there is alternative ways to flash this without CWM.

QUOTE(I9100G @ Nov 12 2011, 05:29 PM) Probably you should try to use other PC first I did try on my father's laptop, which has XP instead of Vista (my laptop). I installed Kies on his laptop, and plugged in the USB, with the same result as with my laptop (can't detect the right drivers to install). Again, I deeply suspect the firmware is the culprit here, cuz there is a user who posted here previously that have no such problem until the upgrade to DZKJ2.

I had MyKernel on 2.3.5 before. And last night I tried to upgrade to 2.3.6 but failed. Then I flashed back to DZKI1 kernel and tried to upgrade again. Successful. Maybe you can try this method. Now I'm gonna try the new method to root 2.3.6 before flashing to the Juffo's Custom ROM.
