Hi,

Not sure if any of you all here that own the G model face the problem for the GPS? Took so long for me just to lock my position. Haven't root my phone yet, but always have to use the GPS status/GPS fix to lock the position first before I can use Sygic (GPS software). Took around 5-10 mins! My other friend who just recently purchase the G model also doesn't have this GPS problem except the camera issue. Anyway, I've purchased this phone on 31st Dec, currently still using KJ2.

Planning to send it to Samsung Service Centre to see if they can manage to fix it though...

GPS in samsung devices is theoritically all very bad.
U need to always use GPS Status
or better
U need to have 3G data connection. This will help a lot

Ehrm.. I did not apply for the data plan yet. But, these GPS issues doesn't seems to occur in non-G version model and that even my friend's G version model doesn't haven't this issue. So, I was thinking whether the chipset/model in my phone that causing the problem.

i am not sure about the base myself because i am not using any custom rom except my own.

but normally u just wipe away with cwm and flash custom rom with cwm.

i just modded mine directly to the phone, so it will not be distributable unfortunately.

Most of the changes are almost the same with other custom rom too.

something like adding init.d scripts for perfomance, build.prop tweaks, gps.conf mod, some UI enhancements like power menu, new transitions effect, removed bloated apps.

most of the mod have their guide in xda forum

If you're rooted, use FasterFix to change your server to Malaysia. You'll probably get much better lock-on times.

So, using the FasterFix would be much better compared to GPS status/GPS fix?

it is not much faster, actually fasterfix is just one time run as it only edit gps.conf file and change it from default to any country u want. even without it, we can do it manually with root explorer for example.

gps status in other hand is another beast, it is an aggressive locking app and will also download gps data for aiding the process.

just use both.

Hey Creezalird, do you mind sharing your build.prop ? This is something i have been after to avoid compatibility problems, but i kinda have some difficulties finding the good settings, and afraid to break something to be honest, so a build.prop from someone experienced like you could be a great addition to what we can do with our phone ...
