your area RSSI= 55~65

my area RSSI=93 and yet i can touch 23~29 ms, on a HW550 default FW, no OpenWRT, no Antenna , no fan , no stripping , no cooler pad ,

Imagine if i bring my HW550+Cat6E to your place, can i get <20ms ?

biggrin.gif
*
nope u wont get that, i try before with Cat6 & Cat6e lan cable, diferent is not very much with Cat5E , all test lan cable length is @ 1 meter notworthy.gif

I was trying to drive home the point that a HW550 + CAT6e LAN cable on a RSSI of -93dBm can get a ping of between 23~29 , why can it go lower if the RSSI is 55~65 dBm ? All these is without OpenWRT, No Cooling Pad, No Fan blowing, No Modem and Router stripping, No cool mountain air , No Antenna.

You cant say NO, when you have not tested my setup in your area.

I am trying to say that HW550 can achieve it. You try what ever means with your MR3420 and show me a ping of 23~29 , then i say that MR3420 is much better  icon_idea.gif

I even give you the handicap of you having a more superior RSSI compared to my jeeby RSSI of -93dBM compared to yours of -55dBm and a lousy speedtest of

user posted image

which you constantly getting >10Mbps too

biggrin.gif
*
it is just personal preferences, like i love penang and you love Sban,..

i wont argue with you,..

i dont need any lower ping as my websites is loading as fibre like connection,.. and i dont play any online game at all

plus i do have cat6 lan cable of 1 meter laying in my drawer, i did even ask whether fruitie is selling cat6 lan cable as well, after i ask her i proceed to buy my own, u can check with fruitie

is the same as you, u not yet try OPENWRT yet, ( even i offer to help you flashing it ), u keep insist stock firmware is good,. doh.gif

no fight la Chuah,

Your RSSI = -55, mine RSSI = -93d

How to compare, like the canto sayings goes "to compare a Mosquitoe with a Cow".

You are like Manchester United FC and I am like Liverpool FC

Btw, you reverted back to stock firmware before i brought out the Cat6e cable to discuss, why you dun like OpenWRT ?
*
why dont u do a test like me with your so called Cat6 or Cat6e cable ? tongue.gif

oh the stock firmware i flash it back to prove a point to you ma, ia m pro in flashing, now it is back to openwrt biggrin.gif

Now with OpenWRT, I can also use Tunlr.net with the DNSMasq (DNS Forwarding) function so I can stream video or audio from U.S.-based on-demand Internet streaming media providers  icon_idea.gif
*
i think you should explain more detail why openwrt is better than stock firmware. Some user just don't get it. And most router stock firmware really doh.gif anyway.openwrt is a very good firmware. It is like diy. You add what function you need.

Stock firmware can be good but its limited. The manufacturers decide the price point based on what router you buy and a lot of them have the same hardware but they'll limit them via the firmware. Cheaper router, crappier firmware.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Third party firmware such as OpenWRT or DD-WRT unlocks the full potential of a router by utilizing every aspect of the hardware capabilities.

The first time I thought of flashing to another firmware is when I wanted to stream US Only content easier using DNS Forwarding. Without DNSMasq, I would have to change my DNS every time I wanted to stream the content rclxub.gif
Tried DDWRT but at that time, it wasn't really working with e353...or maybe I was just too lazy to troubleshoot  sweat.gif
*
well said Ibnuasad thumbup.gif

DDwrt 3G is bugged for sure,

and there is no failsafe like Openwrt nod.gif

Assuming you're using OpenWRT like in the #1 post,

1) Login to 192.168.1.1
2) Go to Network > DHCP & DNS > DNS Forwardings
3) [attachmentid=3151195]
4) Save & Apply
5) Reboot router
6) Check status @ http://tunlr.net/status/  (make sure you added /tunlr.net/184.82.222.5  @ Step #3)

now this is one of the big perks for user who flash openwrt,.. thumbup.gif

works like a charm, streaming hulu.com now thumbup.gif

Cat6 or Cat6e or not make zero different to me

i am 100% not jelly your ping & speed at all, even with my higher ping than yours, i load websites like fibre connection too,

plus Openwrt can watch hulu.com with dns forwarding now, no need VPN,.. rclxm9.gif

so user with stock firmware need to reconsider about it,.

my setup:

E372 maxis set ( spoiled ) + Panel antenna + CRC9 + TL_MR3420 ( openwrt ) + Cat5 ( 1 meter )

setup :

IDM:( 1.8~1.9MB/s now stable )
