Do we need still need internet connection to install openwrt?
Tak boleh tahan racun korang semua lah...
*
u need 2 thing :

- Lan cable ( with or without any network connection )
- usb modem ( if your lan cable have network connection, then u dont need this )

download 2 file:

- openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3420-v1-squashfs-factory.bin ( openwrt firmware bin file )
- Putty ( downlod & run, dont need to install )

if u are flashing using Lan cable come with connection
refer video -> How to flash open wrt with extra Lan cable connection ( on first post )

if u are flashing using 3G modem alone + lan cable without any networking connection
refer video -> How to flash openwrt with 3G connection by sharing it via lan cable to router ( on first post )

I think i will use my spare Router (Extender).  So i will connect my USB modem thru PC
and share the network via router. So the router (extender), need to use WAN or LAN port from my PC?

After balik kerja nak kena buat jugak!!!
*
if u have 3G modem alone,

then u need to share your 3G modem connection in computer Via lan to mr3420 ( lan cable plug in computer & mr3420 yellow port )

then u can flash openwrt and also update the packages component notworthy.gif

Is a small add on for your browser and it will remember your website username & password so you don't have to manually key in all time.

Hi all the experts/pros/sifus here,
I am new to 3G broadband devices, got some question to ask  blush.gif

I am thinking to get a TL-MR3020, but meanwhile I am quite interested with the TL-MR3420. I did some research on forum and found out 3420 have two versions, one is the square shaped another is the curve shaped.

I wanted to ask what is the differences between this two versions? Hardware or only the design?  hmm.gif

Regards.
*
V1 & V1.3

-hotter in temperature
-identified modem slower
-wireless a bit bug issue
-support ddwrt & openwrt

V2

-cooler in temperature
-identified modem a lot faster
-newer hardware to support 4G &3G
-newer firmware who less buggy
-better wifi external antenna
-nicer side usb port

correct me if i am wrong notworthy.gif

i have some question (again), not sure is this the right place to ask

just got maxis' E372 yesterday, question is:
- i want to set 900/2100 manually, with the mdma, will it work with the maxis locked modem?
- after i set to lets say.. 900 only, then i plug to the mr3420v2, will the setting stick?

last night experiencing frequent disconnection with E372+MR3420v2, does this happen to everyone or it's just me? (maxis wireless broadband)

yesterday whole day penang island have serious issue with maxis sweat.gif

well now i need to find a way to place the modem + fan + power cable on the wall, a wall shelf maybe...... the fan i using now are too powerful and freaking noisy.... can you imagine the fan at front door but i can hear the noise at kitchen. going to get a usb fan to replace it.
by the way, need to do a nice cable management for antenna cable. you know.... there is nothing to mount the cable on the modem....
*
this is where your imagination and creation step in. I am using usb fan with 1.0A power plug adapter. And no more noisy sound
