Lot's of things Apple does isn't new but when Apple does it, the world goes "Waah! It's so new and innovative." Even Siri isn't new. Symbian has vlingo way before, it works on old Symbian phones without a data connection and it works remarkably well. Take a look at this video.

Yea, I know; it isn't something new, I've been telling many people as well. There's also chat bot nowadays, it's nothing special, I remember back in the days during the movie "A.I.' by Steven Speilberg, I went online and try the early version of chat bot ("Alice" I think), quite fun; but nowadays the chat bot is even funnier and smarter, can also learn better, plus can support few languages, my friend tried speaking vulgar malay to it, and it scold back in malay, LoL! tongue.gif

Siri: Why are you guys keep on undermining me?

Yes,but to be honest The AI behind Siri is a lot better than competitor.
It may not be much useful for phones but maybe it'll be useful for AppleTV.

Gesture & voice control with Microsoft's Kinect is great IMHO.
*
Yes, the AI is better, but the AI mostly likely not newly develop, it could be taken or bought over from somewhere or at least the algorithm or structure/foundation. Just like Chess game, you don't have to develop from scratch, there're algorithm for it, developing from scratch can be very tough and many logic to consider, one of my college project was doing local version chess (Agong, Bendahara, etc) and the chess piece logic is different, but I face problem with to get the game working as I have to write my own algorithm and logic. Luckily it was not required, just need to provide the concept and can work in basic can already.

As for SIRI, there was AI chat bot since long ago, nowadays Chat Bot are way smarter and better, if you played with them, SIRI is nothing really; SIRI still falls behind but it's because SIRI needs to be more "educated" and "controlled", hahaha.

Anybody tried the firefox mobile 10 beta? Ok or not?

Cute tube not bad. Download, upload also can, very convenient.

Wifi is ok, since the router is upstairs. When downstairs still can detect.  At shopping mall, MCD is downstairs, i one floor up, can detect & surf. E6 still better though, same place 2 bar, N9 1 bar.

Typing on virtual keyboard can never be as smooth as physical keypad. Nokia better not stop producing qwerty/slider phones, it's one of the few reason general public still choose Nokia
*
Firefox quite resource heavy, but it supports multi-tab, history, bookmarks, settings and plugins.

You paid for CuteTube? What about mediaDownloader?
N900 also have CuteTube but it's free.

My existing phonebook are sorted by surname; have been playing with N9 demo set and noticed that it arrange contacts by given name. Are we able to customize and sort by surname?
*
Can show by:
1. First name - Last name
2. Last name - First name

This is not sorting, but display/show; either you sort of first or last name. You can do this in Settings --> Applications --> Contacts.

I prefer Maemo, there is show/display nickname, so I can display the name I want (if not specified it will use the firstt name - last name).
This should be able to be added easily, but maybe need to submit this suggestion to Nokia.

There's some book for Contacts, Calendar, ToDo transfer/sync; After I clear off the contacts, toDo, etc. I try sync again, it won't transfer again although it's been removed? I also set it to sync and use data on my N900, but it just wouldn't. Somehow it's not really cleaned/removed?

Andy, cute tube is paid app from ovi store like the symbian you tube downloader - RM4. More features and user friendly than youtube downloader. You all really have it good during N900 leh. The part i like is any prob can direct feedback to the developer in maemo forum.
Media downloader i see the price is RM2. What's the function? So far cute tube is the only paid app i got
*
Thanks, CuteTube is worth it if you download a lot; I use to download using Symbian youTube downloader; Used to do it in Maemo's CuteTube, but YouTube downloader it can download the quality based on the available quality for that video, while CuteTube is you define in settings. CuteTube is much nicer to use, can find videos easier and visit the user's page, etc.
I have downloaded the CuteTube free version for N9 before it went to the OVI Store, but it's not working properly and can't download videos, hehe. tongue.gif

Not sure about mediaDownloader, previously read that it's capable of downloading videos from few sites.

Well SIRI was initially meant to be used by DARPA right?
Also SIRI was developed for a long time which is why the AI is better than regular voice recognition product.
Yeah, logic is the hardest thing to implement in chess. Some of my lecturers are doing chess programming during their spare time too.Quite complex.

Firefox...It promised many things but so far it failed me in MeeGo,MeeGo Harmattan,Maemo & Android.Somehow the app simply use too much of resource, hangs once in while & lags.Mozilla should try to improve these things first instead of just fast update of core firefox system.
*
Didn't read/follow the history of SIRI, but comparing with other Chat Bot available, it's consider more serious type. Actually, I'm not referring to voice recognition, but the AI logic to response based on the input given. The voice recognition I suppose it's job is to translate the input accurately (e.g. when you say weather, it should accurately translate it as "weather"); As for the accuracy, I believe it the logic maybe more complicated as in it doesn't just make up word by word, if you make a sentence, even some word in the sentence it may translate wrongly, but the AI logic should be able to make it into a more logical word that make sense, so probably that's why it's able to be more accurate.

Firefox works better in N9 than N900, that's for sure tongue.gif

Well, other than interpreting commands, SIRI uses Alpha Wolfram for general queries: Alpha Wolfram. I am not sure what are the techniques it uses in speech recognition.

And yes, chatbots have been around since 1960s, most famous being ELIZA. As with many AI technologies, they no longer seem magical once you know how they work. You get a clue of how the sentence parsing is done when you see how SIRI ask for clarification to some queries i.e. "I don't know what you mean by .....".
*
Thanks, hehe, I only tried chatbot after I watch the movie "A.I." by Steven Spielberg, the chat bot is simple and doesn't misbehave.

Not long ago, I tried new kind of chatbot which seem VERY real and it can learn too. Nothing like SIRI, far better, multi-language as well, can even ask you question and pwned you or make you feel annoyed when throughout the conversation, basically the chat bot can go overboard and even use vulgar words or cries, sad, hurt, etc. Got once I keep asking the chat bot a question, everytime it answer back I ask why, and why and why. Suddenly the chat bot gives me this answer "*attacks with katana*", LoL, got "action" somemore, like got annoyed.
Then I replied "*evades swiftly",... Anyway, it seems the chat bot learned this because the next time I chat, I use "*attacks with katana*", this time the chat bot use back my previous reply "*evades swiftly*".
It really seems very real, and there're many people chatting, it makes one wonder if it's really chat bot chatting.
The chatbot seems to understand Jedi Mindtrick as well, I tried multiple statement like: *waves* You are Justin Bieber
The chatbot complies willingly, playing a long. Funny.

Anyway, the most weird thing I got was, when I type "shutdown now", I forgot what the rely was, but I was using Internet Explorer that time, and it prompted to execute a script. Now that's just plain weird; however I tried other times, it din't do that again.

Well, this Chat Bot doesn't require iOS or SIRI, it's browser based (so any OS can play as long the browser can run the site), but there's app for Android and iOS if I'm not wrong.
It's lacking speech input in browser, but seems it supports for Chrome under Beta; not sure about the apps tough.

Try here, you can even try malay language, and for the fun, try making fun/jokes:

Yup, experience with other phone before even my friend's Android, usually restart resolved the issue, or may need to off the phone for a while. Suspect something wrong somewhere.

I think you get me wrong...

Its like a hare vs tortoise race... it means nothing if you starts off well...
Yes, Vlingo has been for years and still crap... worse than speaking to a robot...

Siri changed that... by miles...

Apple always has been the game changer... tablet never took off until iPad... There would be no Android without Apple... etc...

They did not create anything new, just created something that works... like it should be...
Whats is broadband when its running at the initial 512kbps... LOL...
*
I agree on the part that they make it work; but not always "as it should be", but more like "work well". They didn't make tablet and smartphone as it should be, the change the way it should be... well, not really, they change how the public understand and see it (mostly non-technical people), hence why many technical people were annoyed and refused to acknowledge it as a smartphone.

It's not tablet did not took off; It's people never look at it, because it's like a nobody VS a celebrity scenario. Apple is like Prada, LV, etc in Fashion, things that weren't recognize will become famous. Or just like some product never successful until some celebrity uses it.
I don't find iPad a true tablet, well, if you just refer to the word "tablet", then probably, but if we're talking about tablet "COMPUTER", sorry, the OS is just not there. It's like the olden days, the argument between Palm OS vs Pocket PC. Or a media player VS a mobile computer.
But then, for the public, they may not really need a tablet "computer", what they wanted was just simply a multimedia player device, which has tons of apps/games and have wifi connection.
For those that realize they need more, they may look at Android, which is a more proper tablet, but people may realize they need it to cover more area, thus, they will looks for proper tablet PC which say, runs on Windows. It's like most people can just live with Netbook, but some may need a proper Notebook, but then iPad comparison is way worst than Netbook vs proper Notebook.

Unofficial Nokia N9 Commercial, more like a concept. Didn't work exactly as I planned, some scenes and angles were not included, and some inconsistency and issue with the video and quality, but it's a concept.

I don't mean to be rude but how technical are we anyway? As in flashing custom firmware using someone else guide or video? That kind of technical?
*
Nah, don't have be so complicated, just basic technical; Example: know how to use a computer "properly and understand some basic of hardware and software, don't get to study IT for that or any scholarship; simply put, computer literate, not like "my computer can't start, what's wrong?" When the most basic thing, the power cord also never check.

Using smartphone considered more easy to use than Windows, where Windows have much more features and function, and you don't need to know everything to operate Windows or smartphone; Now the difference is, the limitation and restriction, which prevents people to learn and have the opportunity to use more advance feature. Imagine if you buy Windows, and you're lock to GUEST account only and everything is preset for you, treating you as a dumb user, preventing or minimising "user problem" in handling and usage.

As I said, even between a netbook and Notebook, there is limitations already; but for Apple product like iPad and iPhone, that like even more limitations, restrictions; Sorry, I just don't think that correct to say that its "the way it should be", maybe some people prefer the users to stay as beginner and dumb, and never demand or improve/advance, but this totally go against the usual "don't be spoon-fed", "read the manual" and "learn to use the device". No matter how powerful an automated process, e.g. super SMART car, it's still doesn't mean the user don't need to learn how to drive and "properly" use the device, understanding some basics. In my opinion, strongly, that's just... wrong, user should still learn and know some basic stuffs, and they should also move forward, slow or fast, doesn't matter.

There are different devices for everybody, most want something simple which works which Apple fulfills, those who want more power may go for another os like Android which allows a huge amount of customization. You could provide a switch to toggle between advanced and simple mode but most people won't bother to toggle the switch so it may as well be left out. Apple cater to a certain market segment so if you don't fit in that segment just don't buy it. The main thing is to buy something which suits you. If a company can get away with selling something simple why bother to make it more advanced and gain maybe just a bit more sales? Making it simple means less things can go wrong which is an advantage for the company.
*
Of course I know that, that's why there's people that didn't buy; But what I highlighting is option and choice. We can't control what the manufacturer wants to do or their choice, they can provide little and charge a lot, and if people continue to support and buy, then it just encourage them further, this applies to any product; that's why competition is good and better.
Want something simple, it doesn't mean there can be no customization or more powerful features; Removing or not having is completely different thing. Imagine a DSLR with no manual mode, full on Auto mode. Yea, of course, ti can cater for certain market segment, there's users who use auto mode only anyway, BUT that doesn't change the fact that they can just simply remove, downscale, adds limitation, restriction, etc.

Of course I know about why bother to make it more advance, complicated, which means harder to control and maintain, more manpower, resources and money required to built and maintain; I already said it before anyway in past previous post. They can don't bother, just like car manufacturer is Malaysia, providing less feature, stripped down specs, selling at high price, people still buy; Newer generation, use more local content, quality went down, but priced higher, people still buy and support; So, why bother to reduce price or introduce more features ($$) when you can make more profit, not to mentioned the amount of units can be sold. Many people are brand conscious thats one thing for sure.

Making things simple means less things can go wrong, I also mentioned this already. It also means, they have less things to maintain, it's like when you're an administrator of a company, you give the user a account with many restrictions and limitations, this way, you have less problem and you can ensure the user won't make any stupid mistake. As for Apple, another benefit to them is, when people already USED to the simplicity, and because they have NO OPTION/CHOICE to learn more advance feature, they become SPOON-FED, LAZY, or dumb-down; This is another advantage to the manufacturer. Why? They see more advance device, they feel it's complicated and reluctant to learn or switch, thus, Apple is able to maintain their customer better. As I said in previous posting, this goes with the opposite of the a person shouldn't always be spoon-fed, never read the manual, no need to learn about their device; Of course, one is free to choose whatever they want, they can choose to know nothing and just stick to their level, but should we encourage that?
If you work in computer support/helpdesk, do you think the user should not be computer literate and knows the basics at least, and then slowly improved and learn? Or do you think they should always call up helpdesk/support for any small problem, and they should not need to remember/learn from the experience?

The way I see it, no matter how great something is made simple, it's always good that the person starts to MOVE ON and MOVE FORWARD; but if a device have no such option, of course, it's not wrong, but it's not nice and if we're talking about TECHNOLOGY, it's definitely not the way. If future Windows decide to adopt this for Windows Home edition, make things simple and removes many features, full of limitations and restrictions, scale down the OS, do you think it's the way forward or backward? I think this is bad influence. Removing is not the way. They can turn off, set default with many limitations and restrictions, which can be adjusted. That's should be the proper way; even when developing software, a Pro VS a Lite version can be the SAME software, being Lite version have the Pro features turned off, not included, etc. It'll be stupid to maintain two different copy with DUPLICATES (which is what some local software house is doing).

Anyway, it's just my opinion "lah"; No doubt, I did not deny each product has it's own category of customer and I didnt say there shouldn't be either, just like cars, some people like small cars, some people like big cars, some people like MPV, etc. Each has their own preference; What I'm saying here is, I disagree with the statement about what Apple did is the way "it should be" or "correct way" mentioned. What Apple did to smartphone, tablets, I disagree that it's the way it should be, and the reasons are tons, just like what I mentioned above and previous post.
What I agree on would be, they make things simple and easy to use; That's what it should be, BUT it doesn't mean there's need to remove, limit, restricts; So, that it shouldn't be. People can agree or disagree, disagree would mean, your preference is something simple and you don't need anything extra, but it also means you're not thinking about everyone; Example, people who ONLY need something simple, cannot generalize and think that everyone also need something simple ONLY. Why not have BOTH?

Well Andy, you may disagree about the way Apple dumbs down products for its customers but it is not Apple's job to educate customers or improve their skills. Like all companies its aim is just to sell and make money for its shareholders. If it can package a pile of poo and sell it, it will.

Yeah, people should improve their skills and go on to the next level but they can move out of dumbed down products to other product which suits them more. Like iphone to Android. Or a digicam to a DSLR. Incidentally N9 may have the basic/advance toggle switch which you love as it can go to terminal mode and developer mode but how much you can do there I don't know.

There is no right way or wrong way for a company marketing a commercial product. They have very little social responsibility. The only right way is to make money. Period.
*
Right Way? Do you mean by limiting and restricting, etc is right way?
There is always CHOICE, please always say, work hard or work smart. Why choose when you can do both?

In short, people here are arguing to work smart, and some people are arguing work hard.
I'm arguing why should be do only one of it, there's no rules that says you can't do both.
So do you mean you like what MS do with WP7? Since you seems to agree with iOS doing?

No rules that say the OS to be simple and cannot have more advance features. It's very much depend on Customer, the demand;
Like you said, people are satisfied and no demand, then this will continue on. Why should they provide when people are not "realizing" and pushing them, no need to worry about competition because people still chose them.
Just like car industry in Malaysia, the jap car are way way overpriced despite their low/trim down specs, more local content, price increase. But people continue to buy and support; why should they reduce the price or bring in higher specs, when the competitors tried so hard to bring down prices, introduce better specs, value for money, etc yet people still chose them and support them; They also sell much more units per month and earning more per units. In oversea, the competitor is tough, the specs of the same car here is much more higher and priced much more lower.

There's no wrong or right, they can do whatever they want. I'm just saying that, it shouldn't be the case of ONLY SIMPLE OS with no advance feature; In fact, it comes with BOTH, but they decided NOT to provide it, it's like giving you the Microsoft Windows, with only "GUEST" account. For non-technical or people who don't understand software may not understand or see it, software is different with hardware, but some people may not know the difference or if it's software related or hardware related.
For example: a new feature introduced in Canon 600D, in fact, it's software update, and it can actually be updated for the 550D. They can decide NOT to provide it for 550D for marketing/business reason. They can do that, but it doesn't mean the customer MUST accept it? It's nothing wrong to complain and request/demand, Manufacturer/Business owners need to KNOW that Customer are not fools and for them to play around with.

QUOTE(sklchan @ Nov 4 2011, 10:22 AM)
Andy looking for "ultimate" device which will NEVER existed... yawn.gif
*
No need so complicated; It's just software and who say it will NEVER exist. It can be done EASILY, just whether they want to provide or not only. They can make Windows to run on mobile if they want to, or like Android device they can provide lock bootloader, etc. they can choose to put in more security and restrictions. It's all about how the Customer voice out their view. Just like Android devices, why people least prefer Motorola Android; Is it necessary for them to control. What about SE Android? Did they start listening to the Customers?

In short, software is software; It's not right to add in more and more limitations and restrictions, etc. It all started because of iOS. Before that, it was moving forward, manufacturer's try to provide MORE and enhance it. After iOS, suddenly, things change, limitaitons and restrictions came, like WP7?

QUOTE(andrekua @ Nov 4 2011, 10:26 AM)
Andy not looking for ultimate device..

Just ultimate OS..
*
As above, no need so complicated, it not about ultimate; It's just simple, there's no need to scale-down, limit and add restriction. By default, it's there, but they decided to make remove this and that, add limitation, restrictions, and control. As I said, they can provide a Windows with many limitations, remove the features, restrictions, etc. so that the user don't simply install programs, cannot simply do this and that, suddenly, Windows become a good OS, less user complain, less problem, less lag, less hang.

It's just simple concept, I can built a software, I can make it flexible or make it strict, or balance between BOTH, cater for beginner and advance/experience user. Do you prefer (1), (2) or BOTH?
I prefer BOTH, but seems not many people able to catch what I mean. Software is always about BOTH, until iOS came along. Photoshop is not only for advance user, it's powerful and complicated, but they always try to improve and make it simple for beginner to use; that doesn't mean they need to remove features and add limitation/restrictions......

Chill, Andy. I don't agree with what ios is doing but I don't think they are wrong either. It's giving the market something which will sell. If millions of iphone users can accept Apple's "dumb os" and restrictions who is to say Apple is doing wrong?

The market will punish whatever product doesn't fit or adapt to their needs. Examples are Lotus 1-2-3, dBase and Wordstar. If you are as old as me you may have heard of them. They were market leaders in their time but they died out when MS Office entered the ring giving users an easier way to accomplish things. In a way you can say MS is dumbing down users but they can accomplish what they want.

It's not really for you or me to say an os should be this or that. That is for the market to decide. Right now Apple is doing something right based on their iphone popularity. If they decide to dumb down ios to imbecile level the market will punish them. So it's more or less self-correcting. Why do Japanese cars sell for higher price and lower specs here? Because of our protectionist car market which force up imported makes. Consumers forced to accept this situation doesn't meant they like it or they can do anything about it.
*
Not exactly saying they're wrong, but like previous I said, I don't agree with the statement "it should be" (as in that's how the OS should be built or how product should be), if you read previous post, and why I started to write and give so many examples.

Um... I started to use Computer during MS-DOS era, 386 I think? But, I'm not very familiar with Lotus 1-2-3, dBase, or Wordstar, but heard of them. That time, mostly play games lah, and also did many problem like issue command to delete all files and suffer the consequences, sweat.gif

MS Office, I'm not sure what you meant by dumbing down; Did they remove feature, add limitations and restrictions? Or they just make process easier and simplifies things? It's 2 different thing.
Like Camera, it can introduce many Auto & Scene modes in DSLR, so it makes taking photo easier for beginner and starters, but they don't remove manual mode.
What iOS did, is like change the DSLR industry, making super efficient auto-mode so anybody can pickup and use and the pictures turn out nice most of the time, then they remove all the manual modes, features, settings, add in limitation and restrictions (cannot simply transfer files, must go through iTunes).
The is MUCH more beginner and people who just want to take great photo without learning and knowing much, so the product becomes very successful; Does it mean other DSLR make should follow suit? I don't think that's what I want to happen; The public may prefer something simple and easy to use, but it doesn't mean there's need to remove features, add limitations, add restrictions......
Simply put, between (1 - Simple) and (2 - Advance), why choose either one when you can have BOTH?

yea, it is A LOT larger now :/ don't really like it but bearable, still hopes that there's a switch tho...

Maybe we can tweak/customize it; For maemo5, it's HTML, CSS, JavaScript based, we customized the Conversations look and feel to our preference.

Thanks~

Hardware available is good, software can be developed anytime for it. For the FM Transmitter, heard there is some issue with it tough, not really sure, I think Jeff (Upsilon) knows more.

Good job Andy. Took me a while to read it. Good enough to publish in a mag.

My comments:
1. Mono speaker isn't such a disadvantage. We shouldn't assume straightaway that mono=poor sound compared to stereo. Mono will also give you the full range of sounds except that it seems to come from one point while for stereo the various instrument sounds are spread out between the speakers. For a phone body stereo separation is limited due to the close position of speakers so it is more or less a gimmick.

2. Users have reported that the wi-fi sensitivity is improved with PR 1.1.

3. There is already a FM player app.

4. HDMI and USB on the go - most users won't miss them.

5. Adobe has announced it will stop developing flash player for mobile so it is likely to fade in importance while HTML5 may rise.

Thanks~

Yea, I know there's good quality mono speakers, but if it comes in stereo, it'll be even better. One reason I stress this is because, if they only give mono, then you can't get stereo. But if they give stereo, that's a different story. Personally, I believe it really up to Nokia whether they want to give or not. One major reason there was once many people give up on Nokia and jump to SE is because of the sound quality, particularly speaker.
After that, it seems Nokia realized and emphasize on sound quality and provide stereo speaker, loud and clear. But suddenly, it goes back again;
For this N9, it's hard to deny it's not influence by iPhone... no Flash, no proper homescreen, mono speaker, micro SIM, etc. If it's a Maemo successor, it should have those that Maemo were proud of, sadly, it's not.

Lastly, in public perception, when they see one speaker or mono, how will they think? Even if the mono speaker is of HIGH quality VS a low quality stereo speaker; What people see is 1 vs 2.
Anyway, with mono speaker, you can't actually produce a true stereo output right? I'm no audio expert, but when I hear it, even it sound good, there's just something missing, just like when you plugin those small mini speaker which come in 1 unit (or say Studio Monitors, which usually sold per unit), you'll need 2 unit for true stereo output, the sound when you plug in 1 vs 2 unit, is just different.
What the Fruit company used to give for the reason is, to use the headset for music listening, which I've explain in the review, it's not just about that...

Add on:
As for Flash, I've commented on LowYat blog; It doesn't matter if Flash is dead, because it doesn't mean this technology is no longer use. There're still a lot of websites which uses Flash, and there's no guarantee nobody will not use it anymore. UNLESS, the Flash is a service, once it stop, everything is gone and no longer available, but it's not, it's a technology; There's also many Flash apps and games.
So it's not about dead or not dead, it's about whether they willing to give or not give, in this case, pay for the license? Initially, there was plans for MeeGo, but I guess Nokia decided not to proceed? Just my guess.

Anyway, the best would be a perfect transition between Flash and HTML5; That said, the user shouldn't even need to concern if it's Flash or HTML5, the device should provide support for both, and the transition shouldn't even be of a concern to the user. Just like apps, who care if it's developed with java, C, VB, etc? For the user, they just want the app to run, as for browsing, they just want the website to work properly as it should, not suddenly, this part not working, why am I not seeing this? etc.

yea, the messenger app's font-size can be changed by modifying the right CSS file, but will just stick with the current one~

For Maemo, we don't really modify the CSS file, we add our own css class, then we refer to the class for our own formatting. Basically original Maemo Conversations is very old fashioned, we modify it to more modernized.

Andy,

I think Nokia may have removed the home screen to simplify things. It's easier to swipe between 3 screens than 4. Besides the home screen can be dispensed with as the notification screen can be used for live updates. Even the lockscreen can also be used in future.

Look at what users put on their home screens. Date and time, weather report, battery usage, msg status, news feed and shortcuts. Most of them are just for decoration and duplicate info already available. The main purpose of a home screen is to make your phone look beautiful. It doesn't actually increase productivity or functionality. More for users who like to decorate their phones.

So what functionality have you missed without a home screen from your N900? I'm willing to bet whatever you miss can be added to the N9's notification screen or lock screen via an app or os upgrade. If you want shortcuts the N9 also has 4 shortcuts you can customize.
*
Simplify is good, but like I said in the review, no need to remove. It just feel too much influence from iPhone. Desktop/Homescreen is very common for any OS. Some people may not need it, but it doesn't mean there's need to remove.

If you see the screen capture I provide for Maemo Desktop, you can see what I put, it's not just news feeds and so on, in fact, don't add news feed. If you check out the links I provide, you can see many cool customizations done by N900 owners, because of the flexibility, they can do the homescreen with special wallpapers with special functions. It's all about creativity and how each same device differes from one another. For those that don't fancy homescreen of course may not understand it. Even back in Windows Mobile era, we have special theme and customization, I customize the WM2002 with StarCraft theme which really look and feel like StarCraft, I still like it until today. Then there's like HTC, SE, Moto, etc custom UI/theme and so on.

N9 just can't provide at all, it's fixed screen. For my N900, even 4 Desktop is not enough for me, just that put too many things, it will consume more resource and impact on the device performance. The difference here is choice, I can choose how much I want to customize and sacrifice on the performance; If I only want performance, I can leave the Desktop clean and only activate 1 Desktop with common shortcuts, or customize it like a Mac OS style (like some N900 owners did), but I get this device to enjoy all the features, not just aiming for fluidity, else I might as well get something more simple.

So is Android the most complete OS now?

multiple home screens
live wallpaper
themes
widgets
flash 11
voice control
Whatsapp
Video Skype
1080p video
custom roms
Large app store
Loved by its parent

Can't actually define complete or incomplete, but it's a much more, I would personally consider, proper OS. People who buy a Desktop, wouldn't want restrictions, limitations, features remove, etc. but when mobile, because it has become a 'trend', people start to accept it, and when this happen, manufacturer also follow the trend and start not to provide those.
The same applies to everything else, softwares, automobiles, digital cameras, etc.

The key point is, it's not because they can't provide it, is whether they want or don't want. If they can't provide or can't be done, then it's acceptable, but if they decide NOT to provide, that's something we, as consumer, can request them to provide. But if people just give in and 'follow the trend', then slowly, the features will be gone or no longer be provided in future. Just because one company (a famous one) did it, doesn't mean others have to follow suit.
If Justin Bieber wears a skirt today and people say it's cool, is it mean all other guys should also wear skirt?

Hi rathian! Where's Rathalos? tongue.gif
MHF ftw!~

As others explain try to do proper hard reset, it should work fine after that, if not, it could be due to other issue. You can try update to PR1.1 and see if problem persist, if yes, then most likely is hardware issue.

I will do hard reset whenever the phone hang...i think my phone firmware got corrupted...if not why my memory detected low..and cant even take any picture..and cant save anything...i rather use motorolla the old tac2 model ..if my theory correct i will ask myself why nokia release faulty phone to market.

How did you perform the hard reset?
Did you restore from backup after hard reset?

P/s rathalos being extinct..to many ppl kill him for ruby..lol

All the best!

Rathalos is anyhow easier to handle; Rathian more dangerous especially when she go amok, especially the gold one, in unlucky situation, it can keep rush till you're dead, lol.

You can see the difference in  Andy's N9 review. Just scroll down to Camera section there are some photos taken by N8 and N9. You'll find that the N9 blows highlights which the N8 can handle properly.
*
Thanks, another point is the wider angle from the N9. Despite using same 28mm (in 35mm equivalent) lens, the N9 provides wider angle of view in 16:9 ratio mode thanks to the new sensor which utilizes both 16:9 and 4:3 advantage.
