But N8 has a physical camera button. How different is the operation between physical and soft button? I think the physical button reduce possible shake, no? In terms of speed won't the physical button be faster to whip out and operate?
*
N8 is slower, nto sure how to explain, try it.

N9 is something like iPhone, when you snap, it quickly let's you snap again, iPhone got nice "shutter" animation, while N9 got this picture sliding/warping effect (not sure what is the effect called).

Physical Camera button is nice, you can also use on screen button anyway; but it loves to use slower shutter, so often you'll get shake/blur in lowlight, must hold steady and the object must be still (unless you adjust the settings). Most people using camera phone, just take out, point and shoot. So in this case, the camera that is easier and performs better would be preferred than those which you need to keep adjust this and that.

U give up bro? Erm, I don't think so tongue.gif

Not gonna post today, no time; was planning to do on the weekend at first. So far, nothing done yet.

Anwyay, will still post my review, but I'll not be in the competition. Besides, I prefer the 64Gb and was planning to get one anyway.

You should join in. You like Maemo so much. I think it does not matter 16 or 64GB now cos there are nothing much to install until the mass porting happen. Try your luck.

I'm not joining...
*
I put videos, musics, 16GB definitely not enough, the actual User Data space available only around 9GB, that's even more less.

I won't be joining since I don't have time for it anyway, but still will continue my plan for the review. Just a small contribution anyway.

You mean N9 has less shutter lag?

There's one type of shot which only only physical button can do - the self shot. Maybe, just maybe, someone may produce an app to map the volume buttons to zoom in/out and the power button to snap.

Here's a camera comparison between N8 and N9 in gsmarena. Of course we already know the answer.
http://blog.gsmarena.com/quick-camera-comp...ia-n8-featured/
*
Not sure about the technical or differentiate, but N8 camera is less smooth, maybe due to the OS also. It's faster the previous Nokia cameras but slower than iPhone. The N9 on the other hand offers comparable speed and ease of use.

QUOTE(doomx @ Oct 14 2011, 01:39 PM)
Im doing my part also for the review but maybe tonight only will post or tomorrow.

Level 2 ah. Lol, i guess i will just pass around the device up to them wanna write or not. i ready the box cantik cantik to return dah
*
Tomorrow will be 'disqualified', better rush to submit today.

Not just write, they need to write according the the "criteria" somemore, which generate points, the more "stuffs" the more points. So, in other words, if you really want to win, you need to pass to someone who can write well or already familiar with these kind of writing, taking photo, videos, etc. The more this type of people you know the better; Moreover, if you want volume, they can only test in shorter time-frame to get more volume.
Quantity or Quality?
It also means, need to pass to more "famous" people and people who knows about smartphone; instead of letting anyone interested to enjoy (regardless they're using normal phone or smartphone), which I think should be the proper way, to let people experience and provide their own feedback and comment without any criteria.

Another thing to worry is, to make sure they take good care of the phone... regardless need to return Or keep.

it seem they divided the memory... 2GB for Apps data (C:? although not mapped physically), 4GB for Apps installation (which mean if >4GB u can't install apps no more?) and 10GB left for user datas...  hmm.gif

Added on October 14, 2011, 2:03 pmand why the heck i can't even unlock the phone by swipe from the side????
*
N900/Maemo only 2GB for apps installation.

Double-Tap or press the on/off/lock button ONCE first. Then will show you the wallpaper thing, now you can swipe.

I think you can also turn the wallpaper thing off.
CORRECTION: Seems no this option.

As for the second part, the only thing I am worried off is, the person whom I give the phone to might not return it back. Seriously, who can I give it to? Friends? After give then, "nombor yang anda dail tiada dalam perkhidmatan" tongue.gif
*
Friends also must see, some not active in internet, some don't join forums, most don't write these kind of "detailed" reviews with so much requirement, like an actual write-up article?

Unless the person is himself a blogger and have many contacts or has many friends who are active in forums, blogs, etc.

The purpose is basically to help market the product, get traffic. Not so much so as in letting "anyone" (I mean, anyone, young or not young; regardless they know or don't know about smartphone, etc), to try and experience it and then share their opinions.

Yup, +1. Agree with you.

How many of them will take initiative to get to Nokia Malaysia's Fb page and write something like a short review?
*
I check with FH, they need to write the review on either forum, blog, or some sites, and then post in Nokia Malaysia's FB page with link to their review and also mentioned the Ranger's name in the post.

The review, according to the ppt, there's quite a lot of requirement which all contributes to point. Asking them to write a review may also be an issue (especially if they don't/never do it before), the criteria may be too much. So, just do what we can, but I suppose we can still help them.

Sorry, let's get back to N9 discussion lol tongue.gif

My review set already pass to my friend already, well she bought the Nokia N9 black la after tested mine. She will be passing the unit around every day to diff person till next week, i just tell them if u all do write a review, please just put my name there. If not no need la.

Not gonna force anyone to write up something, i just want them to feel the differences in this phone. Not the usual nokia they use to having, this is a whole new level of differences
*
True, it's not the usual one; If we remove the brand and model name and let them use, they won't even be able to tell it's a Nokia phone (unless they off and turn it on, then will have the infamous Nokia logo and tune... or when they receive call or sms, haha).

QUOTE(nemoegg @ Oct 14 2011, 02:45 PM)
How much do you think second hand N9 would be like ?
*
I guess depend on demand; When no demand, nobody want to buy, very hard to sell, then value also not stable, unless you found buyer who are looking for it and willing to nego the price with you.

As of now, I would say not much people actually knew or bother to know/find out about N9, or more specifically, Nokia; To them, it might just be "another Nokia". Hence, that's why Nokia tries to promote it more, but I think it's not good enough. First the sales person themselves are not really familiar with it, secondly, there's no enough "information". Example: Many people walk pass Nokia Shope everyday, especially weekends; How do they plan to attract these people?

Actually they can put a TV and show off some nice/attractive N9 features, which passers by may be attracted, stop and possibly walk in to TRY IT. The video should also show some basic usage on the phone (e.g. how to unlock, the 3 main screens, etc). As from my observation, some people who walks in, look at the phone, press press here, press press there, still stuck at the wallpaper, then walk away (unless the sales-person is FREE to serve them); Some might just stand and look for a while then leave as they don't really know much about it also, not everyone likes to be approach or approach the sales person. Some Nokia Shop may have the TV, but not all, e.g. AEON Bukit Tinggi, which can be considered a quite "high traffic" area due to the Cinema. Kind of strategic place, but without proper "promotion".

Not sure if it will become famous; People will be looking at i4S, and Androids. Plus, price and value will also drop later; If you really want to sell, then I think you should try to sell it now (unless the 64GB really have limited stock and will no longer be available, then your unit might be in more demand?)

Well the price factor abit hard to push then, with the OS which is kinda new in the market, therefore not much apps to play with it. iOS and Android is a no-brainer when it comes to apps, login in to the store and purchase whatever you like smile.gif. As for this MeeGo, nothing much in stores yet. Therefore, that would be a hindrance before it becomes famous
*
Currently, many rubbish app and simply charging. I think it needs proper management for the apps, it's flooding the OVI store, very annoying.

Yes, many rubbish apps flooding the ovi store especially in the news and entertainment category. Useful utilities are still lacking and the handful of utilities for N9 have not changed from day 1. We really need apps like:

Wi-fi analyzer
smartrunner
Parking (gps)
scientific calculator
QR code reader
offline dictionary
*
I want the "YouTube Downloader" from Symbian...

N900 have CuteTube,it was ported to N9 (but did not port properly); but this app often fail to download video.
Symbian's "YouTube Downloader" was great.

LOL... what?? ur friends been cheated by nokia b4 huh??? they all seem "hate by brand" LOL...  laugh.gif
*
I thought it' already well known? Not something new; Most people I know already anti-Nokia, say got new phone, ask what brand, Nokia, then not interested or don't even wanna know. Only those that still stick to Nokia will still buy Nokia.
Those that previous switch to SE for reasons like camera or speaker/sound, still thinks the same to Nokia.

That's why, it's important not to give bad impression or experience; It's very hard to recover and win back people's trust/impression/etc. And their expectation will be higher and easily annoyed with small mistakes because of past experience and impression. (e.g. if you like something, you can forgive and forget or accept some minor problems/mistake; but if you already don't like/hate something, even some simple mistake, you may be very annoyed and seems like a big problem).

Btw, how do you sync songs inside N9?Just drag and drop?Any music search like midomi's app SoundHound?
*
App for download video/audio YouTube and 2 more other media sites. The features are somewhat better than YouTube downloader on Symbian.

The previous I tried for N9/MeeGo version, it's not properly optimized yet for on-screen keyboard.

QUOTE(KennyKB @ Oct 28 2011, 12:20 PM)
Actually all the apps are from Ovi store but the presentation is much better than the tiny screenshots in ovi store. Ovi store is flooded with  a lot of useless RSS feed apps due to a Nokia wizard to churn out such apps with totally no programming skill.
*
For people to earn quick cash; Imagine if one sell for USD0.99, as long as it "looks" attractive on the surface (outlook), people with extra cash or desperate for apps, may fall into the trap and purchase, plus they may think, only USD0.99 "mah".
This platform may not be so much, imagine like iPhone, there're tons of users, even with 1% of people think like this and buy, the so called developer will earn some easy money.
That's why it's not good for these wizards, or more specifically, there need to be some proper management on the store to check/approve certain apps/games, as well as the prices.
Some apps is basically just pulling RSS feeds, or Web Page, or simply plain apps... all these are very redundant and useless IMO, there should be one app which come with default multiple RSS Feeds, or Web Page, and you can add any additional, rather an one app for each.
