As much as I enjoyed Gundam W, OO's horrendous designs make me cringe. Don't even get me started on the GUY WITH A RARE BEAUTY. That statement alone adds 1000 masculinity points for Rey Za Burrel.

The only designs more appalling that I can think of are Skull Gundam, Windmill Gundam, and Mermaid Gundam...

About Ion Thrusters... fuel cells are probably not suitable for generating ions for it. If I remember correctly from my SAM chemistry projects, fuel cells are more battery-like than ion-generator. But I can't be sure...

I seriously don't mind that they want to sell toys if they make a good anime. The first two episodes of Stargazer OVA was good, the entire atmosphere was spot on, the animation was superb too. The third one however suffered from CEitis though.

Now let's be fair... OO hasn't even started yet. There's still a chance that it might be a good anime, but I have the belief that it will NOT be gundam. It will probably never have the essence of Gundam in it.

Despite Gundam W's bishie stuff, it still felt like a Gundam show. And no, don't anyone bring Gundam G into the picture.

GW... I have no idea why girls would like that. Yes, it has 5 bishies, but it has none of the yaoi stuff of GSD. Stupid love triangles doesn't exist, while brother-sister love, "brotherhood" love, clean innocent naive princess shit all do not exist in GW.

Take away the super robots of GW and the bishie looking character designs of GW, it's still basically a gundam anime. Wars, political pep talk, mind boggling (sometimes bullshitting) philosophies, development of characters... these are the essence of Gundam. And GW mechas do get thrashed too... Deathscythe and ShenLong got tag teamed and thrashed... Sandrock and Wing are forced to self destruct... Not forgetting the best battle between Tallgeese and 30 MSes and the duel in Antarctica.

Relena... when I started watching GW I loathed her character for her stupidity. But if you analyse more about her character, she too has her flaws and her human side. Same with Heero. My first impression was that he is a killing machine. Nothing more. But eventually he developed his character more than Shin, Athrun, and Kira did in GSD. Everyone developed except for Trowa who was much more mechanical than Heero ever was.

If anyone wants more GW discussion feel free to post views here. I have more to share...

Conclusion, yes... GW has loads of bishie, but the essence of Gundam is still there. Let's just hope that OO has them too, but at the moment things are going, I think OO will end up like other mecha shows eg FMP, Code Geass etc... I've never watched them before, but after reading synopsis and previews about the concepts of the show, I feel that OO's general idea is more geared towards those shows than the original scifi drama of Gundam.

Relena seems like another Lacus, but if you really analyse her background and conflicts she does have a bit of Cagalli's shadow.

After Sanq kingdom was restored by Zechs, she was installed as the ruler of her country because Zechs felt guilty for his military ways which conflicted with Peacecraft's ideals. Noin, being the lovesick heroine, stuck by Relena and aided her in her ruling of the country using peaceful ways. Despite her attempts to avoid war (hence upholding the Peacecraft name), Relena proved to be just another symbol of power, instead of having real authority.

Romfeller attacked Sanq and established their own faction with brute force, and after succeeding, they elected Relena as their political representative to show their "peaceful" intention. However Romfeller was easily defeated by Treize's new toys, then the story arc shifted to Miliardo's White Fang vs Treize's OZ/Earth remnants. From there onwards Relena's role diminished since her role was based mainly on Earth.

Relena wasn't a very well written character, but she surely ain't as irritating and preachy as Lacus is. At least she is still human and faces situations which she has control of.

The best twist in GW happened when OZ entered space and won over the colonies, which the Gundams were supposed to represent and fight for. Talk about being backstabbed by the very ones you are supposed to protect. Without that part, GW would have been a very plain boring SRW-pwn-all anime. In the end, it turned out to be yet another Char's Counter Attack... I simply didn't like the change in Miliardo's character, but since he is the exact replica of Char there's little difference to expect.

Noin, on the other hand, is a pitiful character which went unappreciated throughout the story. She was supposed to be the right hand person of Zechs, yet her role was lesser than other female side characters such as Emma and Reccoa.

Overall I prefer W over X although X has much better grunts which don't blow up like fireworks whenever a breeze blows by. X's storyline is too weak and lacks focus, and we get one villain-of-the-day in every episode.

Seed is not based on W... it's a parody of UC.
OO however will sound like a cheesier, kiddy version of W.
Prove me wrong Sunrise, prove me wrong.

I was referring to the model kits They look small when put side by side.

It depends on the popularity of the novel. AOZ is so well known that it has several HGUC kits, and an MG Hazel is just a matter of time. After all there's already the GM Quel and MKII frame ready for the Hazel.

Nevertheless, I doubt we will see a Unicorn kit soon, be it an HGUC or an MG. OO is the new milking cow and surely Bandai would want to cash in on that like how they did with the CE series.

MG Nightingale, The O, etc are probably distant dreams despite their popularity. They're simply too big, whereas they are also relatively unknown compared to other giant kits like Zeong. Then again, who knows?
