Yes, online transaction is counted as retail transaction. Also, they have explicitly mentioned the exception list which is not consider as retail transaction in their TnC:

11. For purposes of this Programme, “Retail Transactions” means the purchase of any goods or services (local and international) with the use of the credit card and may, at the Bank absolute discretion, include any card transaction as may be determined by the Bank except for the following transactions:
a. Flexi Payment Plan, Easy Payment Plan, Balance Transfer, QuickCash and Cash Advance; and/or
b. Any form of refund; and/or
c. Any dispute, unauthorized or fraudulent retail transaction; and/or
d. Interest / Management Fee payments, late payment charges, charges for cash
withdrawals, Government Service Tax and any other form of service/miscellaneous fees.

the chance of getting cb is very tiny because it limited to the first 9000 successfull applicant only and the promotion already started since june last year until july this year

Just try. Their application process is very troublesome. Firstly, their Ambank webpage that let customer drop contact for their interest in applying their card will never get any call back from The bank to proceed the application. Well, left only 2 choices which is walk-in to their branch or bump into their roadshow team. I hardly see their branch and they do not have kiosk concept in the shopping mall. Let's say after you found their branch and able to submit your application. Their verification is strict, they need many supporting documents. Salary slip is not sufficient. You need to provide bank statement as well.

All-in-all, after you consider this troublesome processing, how many people will apply their card? Let's say 1500 application per month, 50% of applications are successful. It would only be 750customers per month. To get 9000 customers for this campaign, roughly need a year time. Now is almost a year since June2014.

This is my speculation. I am 1 of the successful applicant and beneficial of this campaign due to never give up spirit. Just sharing my 2cents.

Jan'15. I got my cash back on Mar15.

jun 14 to jan 15 = 7th months from contest start date, still not reach 9000
jun 14 to may 15 = 11th months after contest started, next month contest ended

goodluck spending 1.6k, wish all of us get the 650 cb

it is too risk to apply now.. maybe u spend rm1600 with 0 cahsback... i give up when i know it on apr.

My friend said it will be extended till end of the year and right now, 9000 applicants still not met. If Ambank is extending the CB promo, probably the quota is still available.

What a shame, I am indeed very interested with their World MasterCard. I tried to call them but I was told that there's only 2 ways to sign up for any AmBank credit card. The first method is by fax in your application form along with the supporting documents and the second is walk in. They don't allow online submission which is very strange these days.

Do you need to swipe both cards or just principal will do.

Besides the apply and get cash campaign, I got 4x of 20% cashback for my dining and fashion spends in another campaign. But this 20% hourly cashback has ended.
