Thanks, what I actualy wondering those 1 oz silver dragon I saw be it at SLS or ebay is the one that is listed AUD102.27.
And it also listed as

"AUSTRALIAN LUNAR SERIES II 2012 YEAR OF THE DRAGON SILVER PROOF COIN ISSUE "
and
"Numbered Certificates of Authenticity"

so I am a bit confuse here is it the same product? I only saw once Coloured edition with a number cert.
side note it is going at 6++. this is crazy lah.

For collection do you prefer to keep the normal lunar or glided issue?

Personally, I would keep he gilded version. it looks nice and worth showing off occasionally. The normal one was limited mintage, so it is more for investment for high returns.

as far as i know, there are 4 main different type of 2012 lunar dragon by perth mint.

1- 1oz Proof coin (mintage 5000) sold out within 2 hours of sale. on ebay is around AUD150-AUD500. so far i havent found this in SLS. if im not mistaken, prophetjul managed to get 1 unit.
2- 1oz Colored coin (mintage 10000) priced around rm420-600 in SLS. this is the red dragon
3- 1oz Gilded coin (mintage 50000) priced around rm420-600 in SLS. this is the gold dragon
4- 1oz Bullion coin (mintage 300000) priced around rm380-450 in SLS. this is the normal coin u saw in SLS, i think.

only the first three type comes with box and numbered certificate of authenticity.
i dont really know what is the different between the proof coin and the bullion coin, i havent seen a proof dragon yet.

I've just been reading this thread for a while, there was previously a discussion on some bullion vault service like goldmoney, perthmint and bullionvault, so is anyone of here is still using it and do u have any idea on the spread that I will be expecting buying and selling with them?

Thank you very much for the info. perth mint web site sure confuse me. rclxub.gif

I did a search and found out the proof dragon having the same design as the normal dragon. Where by the proof have a shiny mirror effect on the background and a frosty/matty effect on the dragon. Is just like negative effect.

Yes i did get one after complaining to the mint customer service about their IT ssytems! biggrin.gif

Proof compared with bullion is basically the proof has a very shiny mirror like surface.
Very nice and much mor work put into making proofs.

QUOTE
A proof coin is made with
a specially polished and treated die!
By treating the die in a special way, the coins it produces have a different appearance.  Modern technology allows the high points on the coin design to be acid treated (on the die).  The background (field) design of the coin die is polished, resulting in a mirror-like look on the coin it strikes. This gives the finished coin a frosted look (frosting) on the raise parts of the design, with a mirror like finish on the background. This contrasting finish is often called "cameo".  (See picture above.) On some older coins a cameo appearance is quite rare. The attribute "CAM", when added to a coin's description, means cameo appearance. "DCAM" means deep cameo, and indicates the cameo appearance is strong and easy to observe.

Proof coins are struck twice, or more!
Not only are proofs made using specially treated dies, each coin is struck two or more times by the coin die. By striking it more than once the metal is forced into all the crevices of the die, thereby giving a very fine detail to the image on the coin.  This fine detail does not appear on some non-proof coins.

i think it's not necessary cos it will not help in anything. Maybe you want to know if that person is real but people can always use fake ones on LYF nick and FB ID. just my 2 cents.
