Got myself Skil 1715 Rotary Hammer Drill (RM255) & Cordless Drill/Driver 2212 (RM175) for my house DIY jobs. Nice tools I would say... For sure, can't compared with Bosch or Makita but it's much better then Black & Decker as I used before.  biggrin.gif

well at least its better than B&D then those low powered bosch...

the power different between a true rotary hammer and those impact one is so big..

apart from that sds plus drill bits seem to be harder then normal drill bits

NiCD 1.5AH? Don't seem like a good power battery. I thaught nowaday all is lithium with fast charger and powerfull.

Jigsaw cannot cut the tiles. You need diamond cutter.

I use jigsaw before. If not mistaken, there is only 2 kind of blade. Metal saw or wood saw blade. The jigsaw speed is too slow to cut a tiles.

Yup. Good buy for me. I see no different between Li-ion & Ni-cd besides size & no memory effect. hmm.gif

NiCd need longer charging time compare Li-ion. My bocsh cordless Li-ion need about 30min charge and I can get back to work. The Li-ion battery size is small

NiCd 12v 1.5ah doesn't seem like give high power for the drill. With such a big size battery, why not pack more Ah.

Compare the bosch battery where bosch is Li-ion 10.8V, 1.3ah give out 14watt with 30min charge. Small in size.

NiCd 12V 1.5ah give out 18watt. big battery and longer charge. Look not powerfull and efficeincy.

Just starting my journey into diy since I just finished my house reno.

After reading this thread I went scouting around h/w shops nearby my place ..

I found one shop carrying a lot of bosch, makita & Skill near Kajang and after bargaining I think the price quite reasonable. The shop is in front of maybank in kajang town.

Bought the Makita TD0101F (rm250) & skil 1715 (rm260).

Even the Makita HR2470 was competitively priced.

Anyway learning a lot from all the post by Sifu's here even some of the methods, terms and h/w used by Sifu's took some time for me to properly digest as I'm still new ..

Thanks for sharing smile.gif

Thank you for the tips. smile.gif My house is near UKM, Bangi but, I rarely go to Kajang town, because the traffic is quite busy and quite difficult to get parking slot. smile.gif

The power tools pricing is very reasonable and cheap. smile.gif I may go there for window shopping. smile.gif

Hope you can share your experiences with your new power tools here.

My advice to new power tool's users...
Always start SLOWLY. Sometime drilling at lower speed/RPM is more effective than at higher speed/RPM. Increase the speed until you feel it drill smoothly/easily into the wall.

Thank you.

guys im looking for a rotary drill for small jobs - just make holes for anchors

budget around rm450-500
dont want too heavy in weight or big in size. prefers T-shape handles

i was looking at these -

Makita HR2010
Makita HR1830
Einhell - RT-RH24
Einhell - RT-RH26

The Einhell is quite heavy. Double the weight of the Makita
Any suggestions? TIA

Also recommend me a letrik screw driver. I already read the other thread but Im still blur if I need an impact driver or? Prefers cordless but worry how long
can I store it without ruining the battery. I think I better buy one with cord. Just to screw into plastic anchors

Makita HR1830 ... is the smallest corded rotary hammer I ever hold in my hand. smile.gif At 18mm in concrete, it is more than enough for home fixing DIY. It's weight 1.7kg, or it is about as heavy as 1/single brick. I think it is very easy to use, especially overhead drilling into ceiling.

The L or D shaped rotary hammers are quite rare in Malaysian market, and only high end or high power rotary hammers have that type.

Thank you.

looks like more power as well? rclxub.gif

The main difference is the size and WEIGHT. smile.gif
4 kg vs 1.7 kg smile.gif
Even my 28mm HR2810 is much lighter at 3.2 kg. smile.gif Seriously HR1830 is very compact and I am sure ladies also can use it with ease. Anyway, before you buy, try to pick them up and then, make your decision. smile.gif
