QUOTE(JinXXX @ Oct 24 2011, 02:06 PM) yup NICE tool to have.. but not quite nessasary lol I m DIY guy. not sure if it can cut/chisel through cement./concrete eg the layer on the wall and also red bricks.. if can then its a SUPER GOOD TOOL... I believe it is more important on the rotary hammer side rather the tool. If your rotary hammer have a better strong impact, it should be able brick the concrete surface. And vise versa. |

QUOTE(bahathir @ Oct 24 2011, 02:33 PM) Great to see this topic 'growing' steadily. I really hope this topic can be the one of source of information related to drilling. Actually beside impact drill, I have many others power tool for my DIY job. Like makita chainsaw, makita circularsaw, Hitachi bench drill, bosh orbi sander, disc grinder, dremel small drill etc. Purchasing rotary hammer might be quite difficult or burden for some of DIYers, but, considering time, pain and hassle to drill a hole, in long term, investment in rotary hammer may be the 'wise' investment. You can help neighbors, relatives or 'gotong-royong' or even a part time fixer with it. Oya, beside drilling wall, I also use rotary hammer as a 'dumbbell' for my arms and hands exercises. It's weight 3.2 kg or 6.6 kg with carrying case, is good for the purpose, the result is, it make the rotary hammer felt 'lighter' when using/holding it. I really like to hear some more experiences from you all. Thank you. This tool is like my toy. |

For accurate and thick metal the round type is better. For thin metal or wood and general use (not accurate) the stick type will do.
The round type is more easy to control and drill compare the stick type. Normally I use round type. But if thick metal and clean nice accurate hole, I use hydraulic hole cutter. |

Anyway, I have not started any drilling yet coz I am sick. Also, could you advise if the 13mm drill chuck is suppose to protrude so much like the below picture? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

Some shop recommedation are base on their profit. But got some good recommendation too. So hard to tell. Best is look at here and search the tool spec you like. |

QUOTE(JinXXX @ Feb 27 2012, 10:17 AM) this one can detect wiring.. but piping is non metallic.. how to detect Use human sensor to detect lah. unless it uses sonar or sonic to detect emptiness aka conduit in the wall la.. My way is, I know how wiring run. So avoid half till 1" from the estimate wiring place. Normally wire run from below straight up to the light point or socket. While for upstair, light switch wire is from top down to the light. But some from below too. For piping, normally horizontol to your tap or stop kok. You know what, when that time my house built before plaster, I use videocam to record all the wiring and piping in the wall. So sometime I refer back where the wire run if I want to drill that place. |

QUOTE(beebouly @ Feb 27 2012, 02:05 PM) Hi, Usually you can see a drill bit sign and a hammer. Switch to hammer for wall.I'm trying to drill holes (for curtain rail) into my apartment wall with a Bosch GSB 10 RE impact drill. The drill has a rotary/impact change over but I'm not sure which function to use or whether I should switch the functions in between. Need advice! |

It is not suitable for hammering drill or wall drilling with hammer mode. It is for normal drilling. You can get it locally. But not easy to find.
Here is my 1. Cost about RM300 if not mistaken. ![]() |
