yup NICE tool to have.. but not quite nessasary lol smile.gif but its good if your into little self reno..

not sure if it can cut/chisel through cement./concrete eg the layer on the wall and also red bricks.. if can then its a SUPER GOOD TOOL...
*
I m DIY guy. smile.gif This can use for some small reno. Should be no problem with sand brick and cement. And a bit harder on red brick I guess. But not sure about the concrete.

I believe it is more important on the rotary hammer side rather the tool. If your rotary hammer have a better strong impact, it should be able brick the concrete surface. And vise versa.

Great to see this topic 'growing' steadily. I really hope this topic can be the one of source of information related to drilling.

Purchasing rotary hammer might be quite difficult or burden for some of DIYers, but, considering time, pain and hassle to drill a hole, in long term, investment in rotary hammer may be the 'wise' investment. You can help neighbors, relatives or 'gotong-royong'  or even a part time fixer with it. smile.gif

Oya, beside drilling wall, I also use rotary hammer as a 'dumbbell' for my arms and hands exercises. It's weight 3.2 kg or 6.6 kg with carrying case, is good for the purpose, the result is, it  make the rotary hammer felt 'lighter' when using/holding it. smile.gif

I really like to hear some more experiences from you all. smile.gif
Thank you.

Actually beside impact drill, I have many others power tool for my DIY job. Like makita chainsaw, makita circularsaw, Hitachi bench drill, bosh orbi sander, disc grinder, dremel small drill etc.

This tool is like my toy. biggrin.gif But some don't no go where after lend to friend. sad.gif

Wow, that's amazing collection of power tools.  Are you a professional carpenter ? smile.gif, or , are you build your own house as a hobby? smile.gif heh eh he .

For sure I am NOT lending my rotary hammer to others... smile.gif I willing to drill for them, because it is damn easy and fun. smile.gif Not to mention 'addictive' smile.gif.
*
My job is no related to construction or carpenter. I wish I can build my own house. biggrin.gif My knowledge of construction is limited to small job laying a brick and cement. blush.gif

I use this tool to fix something, install some parts, lay some wire or pipe or build some rack. DIY is 1 of my hobby. But now abit lazy liau. He....

Those sucker friend borrow my tool will take sometime to return to me. After a while, don't no this tool to who, that tool to where. sad.gif

Yup, my friend too in melbourne renovate and do some extension on his ownhouse by himself. Damn cheap.

After show some progressing picture to me, it is not that diffiuclt to do. Their medthod of build is easy and everthing is pretty standard the parts. All this parts can get it at bunning hardware store. Same like ACE but 20x bigger.

Yup, agreed. Here, around Balakong and Jalan Reko (Kajang), there are several 'grand' hardware shops, which have EVERYTHING  to build a house.
*
Can tell me what name this shop? Would like to see what they have.

For accurate and thick metal the round type is better. For thin metal or wood and general use (not accurate) the stick type will do.

The round type is more easy to control and drill compare the stick type.

Normally I use round type. But if thick metal and clean nice accurate hole, I use hydraulic hole cutter.

Hello,

I have just gotten the makita drill HR2470 from a member in LYN.net.
Anyway, I have not started any drilling yet coz I am sick.

Also, could you advise if the 13mm drill chuck is suppose to protrude so much like the below picture?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
If you can use the original makita chuck, better. That is too long.

this one can detect wiring.. but piping is non metallic.. how to detect

unless it uses sonar or sonic to detect emptiness aka conduit in the wall la..
*
Use human sensor to detect lah.

My way is, I know how wiring run. So avoid half till 1" from the estimate wiring place. Normally wire run from below straight up to the light point or socket. While for upstair, light switch wire is from top down to the light. But some from below too.

For piping, normally horizontol to your tap or stop kok.

You know what, when that time my house built before plaster, I use videocam to record all the wiring and piping in the wall. So sometime I refer back where the wire run if I want to drill that place. smile.gif

Hi,

I'm trying to drill holes (for curtain rail) into my apartment wall with a Bosch GSB 10 RE impact drill. The drill has a rotary/impact change over but I'm not sure which function to use or whether I should switch the functions in between. Need advice!
*
Usually you can see a drill bit sign and a hammer. Switch to hammer for wall.

It is not suitable for hammering drill or wall drilling with hammer mode. It is for normal drilling. You can get it locally. But not easy to find.

Here is my 1. Cost about RM300 if not mistaken.

Picture was taken from The Star article about closing of Jaya Supermarket building.

You can find the new shop on Google maps.
Can someone confirm location is correct?
*
Weekee already explain the location of the shop at previous page.
