wta, aside frm using cables tie, is there another way to keep the heatshrink frm sliding? Something thats doesnt bulge....coz for smaller wires....the CT looks obvious.

@cablesguy
u could always use electrical tape then heatshrink over the tape.

@fo33il
u could check with uglyvamp. i think he has SATA connectors. UV reactive ones though. not sure if he has black ones.

this sleeving thing is a nightmare! tried some sleeving last nite - got all sorts of issues like frayed sleeves, overburnt shrinks, too long, too short, sleeves coming out, can't shrink the shrinks near the PSU part, etc. Reading the guide by UV is one thing, actually doing the sleeving is another cry.gif

Btw, I think Vizo (Vantec) sleeving kits are a ripoff. There's not enough in a pack for the entire PSU. They don't even provide enuf heatshrinks of the right size. There's too many large-sized heatshrinks. Not enough small ones for the molex. vmad.gif

I think it's better to get black heatshrinks, even if you accidentally toast a few, it's not visible. And also buy sleeves separately and not from packs. Measure all the lengths and sizes required, then go shopping for them.

@ZipD

relax bro....sleeving is actually very easy one ler...u just need to slowly take ur time...

overburning the shrinks and sleeves happened to me too... just need to be more careful with the flame.

i did my first PSU sleeving in the dark with just a torchlight for light....my house blackout when i just started doing it that time laugh.gif and it turned out alright.

and i used the vantec kits. also, the heatshrinks from vantec/vizo are thick as hell and ur right..not enough...buying the right sized black heatshrinks is almost a must.

zzzZZZzzz, just found out that there're MANY sizes for sleeves, not just the 3 size that came with Vizo/Vantec sleeving kit. Even the heatshrinks has many sizes. Can anyone share what size they use for which cable, especially the standard molex cables?

@inteluser,
I don't quite understand your question - are you asking about L-shape SATA cables or sleeving the SATA cable? Or if the cable itself can be L-shape instead of just the molex? Or is L a shape or SATA is a cable? Ok, sorry, I couldn't help that... anyway please rephrase your question so we can help.

ZipD,

dude, you mentioned to measure all the lengths and size before shopping for those sleeving kits..
my big Q is.. where to get custom lengths? normally i see sleeving kits comes in sets, as in ventec sleeving kits.... haven't come across something as you said earlier...

Lots of sellers in LYN sell custom lengths. Go to Garage Sales/Bulk Sales for them.

For heatskrinks, you can get from eletronic shops. There's one in SS2 that sells TONS of it. I find that those shrink much better than Vantec/Vizo heatshrinks.
