QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 7 2012, 12:34 PM)
BUT, here is the shocking thing, behind my separate MBB VI, it states the following:

"Foreign charges applies a conversion factor of 2.5% to the converted amount and charges that is made in a foreign currency other than US Dollars will be first converted into US Dollars before being converted into Ringgit Malaysia" WTF  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif
OMG! No wonder they are so good to offer 5xTP for all overseas transactions for MBB VI. Got us all happy for nothing. I am so keen to get this card (long shot but definitely in my to-get list) vmad.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 7 2012, 12:34 PM)
Will execute your command, but is will be sometime again before I go overseas again. I will try to swipe with the followings cards on the same day:

MBB 2 AMEX
MBB 2 Visa
MBB Plat MC and
MBB VI
Thanks a lot bro! And if possible, please try to use your wife's SCB VI too as this card also gives 5x Choice Points. Just to see how it fares compared to MBB VI for transaction made in foreign currency smile.gif

QUOTE(jchong @ Jan 7 2012, 09:18 PM)
But in his blog post, the analysis shows the fee only 1.25%. So perhaps not as bad as we think?

Perhaps the next test for overseas transaction is MBB Amex vs MBB VI. Do it on same day and see which has better conversion rate (since both also 5x TP).
*
Gen-X said he will use all his MBB credit cards on the same day. So i guess we just have to wait smile.gif

QUOTE(ixole @ Jan 7 2012, 10:07 PM)

Yes smile.gif

just wondering..if i use my amex for transaction via phone such as car insurrance renewal, am i supposed to read out all the no in front of the amex card (which include the first 4 CID digits)? if using visa/master, im sure that there is no need to read out our 3 digit CVV no...that means using amex via phone transaction is very unsafe..correct?
*
As far as i am concerned, Astro will ask for the CVV if one pays their bill over the phone.

still need info

anyone with USD transactions on their MBB Visa (MBB2 or normal cards. Not Visa Infinite)? Dates required from Oct to Jan 2012

Also need MBB Mastercard data for months prior to Dec. Perhaps jchong can help on this

@ Gen-X and other MBB VI holders
Do you have any USD transaction data for Nov 2011?
I've made a few transactions in USD late last year with my MBB2 VISA. Will post them up in the cc forex thread later.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jan 10 2012, 09:17 PM)
so far, it looks random. i wonder if HSBC send sms to ALL transactions  hmm.gif
*
No. They don't. It's been almost a year since i last used my HSBC MasterCard. I started using it again at places that do not accept AMEX since last Friday. I usually use my Citibank VISA but it's been temporarily blocked until i receive my replacement card.

Anyway, i've used my HSBC MasterCard five times since last Friday and i only received sms for two out of five transactions. Both transactions were made online in the midnight just now. Approximately 5 minutes after i received the second sms, there was a missed call from HSBC. Then they sent me an sms requesting me to call back. It was at 1.05am sweat.gif

I've posted all my USD transactions using my MBB2 VISA for the period between October to December 2011 in HERE.

QUOTE(Moonflown @ Jan 11 2012, 08:41 PM)
I'm very disappointed with Maybank right now. I've applied the credit card in their branches and after 2 weeks call the HQ and ask about it they say they never receive any application.

I called back then branch and they say they submitted. What the hell is wrong with their process?
Either they lost your application form, the postman lost it or it's still somewhere and hasn't reached the credit card department yet. But since it's been two weeks, most likely your application form is lost. As for who actually is responsible ? Well, it's kinda hard to say.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Jan 11 2012, 09:08 PM)
Thanks Miles. very insightful.
for better or for worse (and as a teaser), based on data points so far.. you might as well apply the MBB VI

More recent data points (oct 2010 - Jan 2011) needed especially for MBB Visa Plat (the one with 2x for foreign transactions). No datapoints for MBB WMC yet as well and all my MC data points now are from jchong.
No problem tongue.gif

Anyway, good to know that the preliminary date shows that MBB VI 5xTP for overseas spending is still worth it. Too bad i'm still not qualified for this MBB VI. Someday... definitely someday laugh.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 12 2012, 06:17 AM)
Update on MBB VI overseas transactions -

1. I called CS and was told there are no fees aasociated with overseas transacations, I told her I know there are admin fees imposed and it is stated 2.5% behind the monthly statement. After checking she called me back to inform once again there is no overseas charges for transactions. She claimed she has checked with the relevant department and even with Visa International  blink.gif I told her once gain, it is stated 2.5% behind my statement, ask here go check why.
Aiyo! She even called VISA International ? So "rajin" of her biggrin.gif But the admin fee is imposed by the company she is directly working for, not VISA International whistling.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 12 2012, 06:17 AM)
2. A reader at my blog pointed out to me that MBB VI T&C (that came with the MBB VI welcome kit) stated Admin Fee at 1%. And, after checking it, it is indeed stated that the Admin fee is 1% under Clause 13.
Gosh! Yet another consistency issue from Maybank!

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 12 2012, 06:17 AM)
And from two of my transactions which I have previously posted in regards to overseas transactions with my MBB Visa Infinite, the overseas admin fee works out to be approximately 1.25% and with MBB VI 5X TP, it is still very worthwhile.
Good to know that thumbup.gif

Just ignore the first page lah... It does list the TOTAL amount charged/spend in 2010
*2011*. I noticed that too. Overspent last year, need to cut down on expenses this year as we are heading towards another recession sweat.gif

By the way, my MBB2 cards were charged with the credit card tax with the transaction date recorded as 15 Jan 2012. I suppose that it means my MBB2 was approved on 15 Jan 2011. Time sure flies... it's been a year since i started using this superb credit card product from Maybank rclxms.gif

Nope. Is company paid phone. Have to be switched on 24x7.

For data loggers:

Transaction date: 14-Jan-2012
Posted date: 16-Jan-2012
Currency: HKD->MYR
Rate: 41.5116
Card used: MBB-2-Amex (Company expenses, whether pay with Amex or Visa/Master is the same. Might as well go for 5x TP  brows.gif  )
*
Kindly post in this thread. Thanks.

By the way, i just received the replacement card for both of my MBB2 Cards. The VISA one is in black instead of blueish while the AMEX has all platinum word printed in all capital letters (was initially reported by zenquix if i'm not mistaken, could also be someone else). Just like Citibank, Maybank will also temporarily block your credit card until you've received the replacement credit card if you request them to courier the card directly to your correspondence address. However, if you request to collect it at a Maybank branch, your credit card account will not be blocked.

Mid last year, wanted the words Plat too, so asked for a replacement and it was FOC  thumbup.gif And I think, it was zenquix too that first said he got a replacement, so I followed him. Yah, mine also in capitals.
I did that too last year laugh.gif

QUOTE(ben83 @ Jan 17 2012, 06:56 PM)
For MBB2 AMEX Plat, there are 3 versions in total to date. The very first few batches without the 'Platinum' word at all, later one came out with only regular small font 'Platinum' word & lastly the current version with capital + bigger font 'PLATINUM' word.
And now i have all three versions tongue.gif

OMG, what is the purpose to get the Platinum to show Caps and no Caps...alamak!!!
I called around April or May last year to enquire about the new MBB2 AMEX with the word Platinum printed on it and the CS gladly offered a replacement card to me FOC. It's free anyway and so i accepted the offer. As for the current one, there's a sign that it's going to be broken into two soon. So i called and asked for a replacement. The second time you are getting free too?
Yes. FOC tongue.gif I had to drive to my nominated branch to collect the replacement cards though.

QUOTE(shiroikun @ Jan 18 2012, 01:16 AM)
My citibank card going to break into 2 soon but they are going to charge me for RM50 when I call them to get a replacement, at last I call it off, now still using the half broke card  rclxub.gif
I also requested for replacement card for my Citibank credit card about two weeks ago. This was due to faulty chip and the replacement card was given to me FOC too. This card is my most used credit card after MBB2 AMEX and it was quite troublesome for me as the card was temporarily blocked. I can't even use it online sad.gif

Anyway, it didn't end there. I called them two days later to ask the CS if he can unblock my card so i can use it online. But he misunderstood what i said and activated the card (they have mailed it out but i haven't received it). He soon found out that i haven't actually received the replacement credit card. So he had no choice but to cancel that account and put in another request for a new credit card with a new number.

Wow, that's really give you a lot of trouble but it's ok to block your card, you are a card collector, you can temporary choose your other collection to use before the new card arrive...hahaha thumbup.gif
But the thing is, i still prefer to use my Citibank VISA (in places that do not accept AMEX) so that all my hard earned rewards points will go into this particular card account. This way i can redeem for something faster smile.gif

TP is also rewarded when you use your VISA debit card but don't bother to use it as it gives you 1XTP for every RM3 charged to the card.

Guys, i just realized today that the 4-digit printed on the front of my new MBB2 AMEX (replacement card) is different. It's no longer the same much discussed 4-digit.

what is the 4 digit before and after?
xxxx & xxxx. Sensitive information. Can't reveal it. It's irrelevant to non-MBB2 AMEX cardholders anyway while current MBB2 AMEX cardholders only need to know their current 4-digit.
