Y do u say MBB VISA OR MC? They only have 1X treat pts. If use amex even if din the get the weekend 5%cash back at least have 5X pts
*
5xTP is still not enough to cover the loss in exchange rate. So what's the point ?

QUOTE(dannyw @ Dec 28 2011, 02:22 PM)
MBB SC told me the Supp Card GST is RM25 for 2 cards, not per card. I know the brochure did mentioned 'per card'.
However, I ask them twice, same answer.  hmm.gif

Brochure is written black and white while CS is just telling you through his/her mouth. When something goes wrong, the judge will refer to the brochure nod.gif

Thanks but I kind of lost as got no idea about Seoul, last time was there years ago, stayed at Lotte (on company expense). Next time I go Korea, will ask you and Miles and ben83 where is the most convenient place to stay. I know OT lah, but since you took the trouble to reply and read the posts here from Korea, might as while make full use of the FREE internet access, hehe
Sheraton Seoul D Cube is about 20 minutes away from the city centre by Seoul Metro/Korail but i can guarantee you, the experience at this hotel is totally worth it. The Korean has such a good public transport, getting around is so easy. I won't bother to check other hotel next time i go to Seoul because i know that this hotel is the one that i want to come back to biggrin.gif

QUOTE(hye @ Dec 28 2011, 11:26 PM)
Using a credit card here is rather mainstream .... you can even use it at 7-11 and similar convenience stores. Some taxis accept them but I'm not sure whether got any extra fees or not coz never use it. I'm surprised can even buy bus ticket with credit card. (Not to mention McDonalds, BK and the likes) Transaction approval is also quick ... take just a few seconds.
And they sign on a pad, only the customer receipt copy is printed, less paper is used thumbup.gif

Hi fruitie,

Im new to this credit card thing so hope you can help me out patiently tongue.gif

How would linking my Amex to paypal make it cheaper? Even if I link to paypal, I still have to convert my ringgit to paypal and then paypal to amazon right? So i doing double work and probably double charge by paypal side and amex side.

Also have to lose to paypal charges?
*
All payments made via Paypal will be deducted right away when you authorize the payment. however, for you case, this is not possible as Amazon does not accept payment via Paypal.

No. You weren't. fruitie was just giving a suggestion and she did say she wasn't sure if Amazon accepts payment via Paypal. I replied a few minutes later and said that it's not possible to pay via Paypal. Your post this morning and mine is 9 hours apart. There is no way you can miss my reply. It's more like you didn't read what's posted clearly before hitting the add reply button.

Tomorrow (31/12/11) would the last weekend of the month and 1/1/12 will be on the first weekend of Jan, wonder how the 5% cash rebate for MBB2Amex will be credited in,  Dec or Jan?
*
Transaction date will be recorded as 31st Dec, but posting date will be either on 1st, 2nd or 3rd day of every month. The cash rebate for this round is likely to be posted into our account only on 2/1/12.

QUOTE(jchong @ Jan 2 2012, 06:05 PM)
Yeah, I just looked back at my records and did some rough analysis.

It seems Mastercard has a surcharge about 0.8% - 1.0% on top of the forex rate. Whereas Amex is 2.6% - 2.9% surcharge! So you get billed higher in RM with Amex and I guess this is where they can afford to give you 5x TP. So my conclusion is that for Internet transactions the Amex 5x TP is only a very marginal benefit.
Using MBB2 AMEX to pay for a payment in foreign currency is better if you can be certain that you'll get the weekend 5% rebate + 5x TP.

QUOTE(hye @ Jan 3 2012, 12:04 AM)
There's only 1 thing you need to know - always pay in full. Cannot afford it in cash then don't use credit card to justify it.
No emergency funds needed ... no calculations ... no headache.
I couldn't agree more!

When I asked, they said internet transactions don't qualify for weekend 5% rebate. To qualify the card must be swiped.

I can tell you they are so wrong. Internet transactions do qualify for the 5% weekend cash rebate but as Gen-X said, it all boils down to the transaction date + posting date of your payment.

I need help ! This morning based on my receipt, 03/01/2012 at 09:05:25, I pumped my petrol at ESSO for RM 48.00. Just now, I just received an SMS from 66628 stating that at 09:05:27, I pumped RM 200.00 at the same petrol station. Previously, I have never received any SMS whenever I swiped my card. Any suggestion ?
*
No worries. It's a new system just implemented by Maybank and a few other banks in Malaysia. RM200 us just the deposit. They will refund the the difference to you in the new few working days.

QUOTE(ixole @ Jan 4 2012, 10:19 PM)
yes i understood what u are trying to emphasize here. anyway as per mentioned in previous posts, as long as my transaction date and posting date are dated during weekend, then i will be entitled the 5% cash back right, i think this will cover the surcharge fee 2-3%..n i earn the 10k point to waive the GST. this is what i thought.
*
You are still talking about using your MBB2 AMEX overseas right ? What determines whether or not you are entitled for the 5% weekend cash rebate is the transaction date. The transaction date must falls on either Saturday or Sunday. Posting date will however, determine you will get the rebate this month or next month.

For example, you bought something in USA on 31st December 2011 which is a Saturday, thus making you eligible for the MBB2 AMEX weekend 5% cash rebate. However, the payment was only posted to your account a few days later and the posting date is recorded as x Jan 2012 in your account. The 5% weekend cash rebate will be credited to your account only next month and is counted towards your 5% weekend rebate for January 2012 instead of December 2011.

You can call again to enquire to see if the next CS says the same thing.

Agreed with ronnie. We have faced this problem before, so we know how it works now biggrin.gif

QUOTE(tifosi @ Jan 5 2012, 12:38 PM)
As long as the posting date for the merchant is 31st of Dec, there will not be any prob getting the cash back.
*
Yes. Transaction date is on 31st Dec 2011, posting date is also on 31st Dec 2011, then the card holder will get the weekend 5% cash rebate in early January and it is part of the December 2011 rebate.

However, if the transaction date is on 31st Dec 2011 but the posting date is on 1st Jan 2012 or later, you will still get the 5% weekend cash rebate for all the transactions made on 31st Dec 2011 but it won't be credited into your account until early February 2012 and it is counted as part of your January 2012 rebate.

It's 3% (0.5% + 2.5%). This information was given by an AMEX user. You can refer to the back of you AMEX statement if you are currently using an AMEX charge card.

QUOTE(jchong @ Jan 7 2012, 08:12 AM)
Hi,

1. Where does that extra 0.5% come from? The T&C only mentions 2.5%.
0.5% from Maybank and 2.5% from AMEX. Anyway, idoblu has confirmed this too.

QUOTE(jchong @ Jan 7 2012, 08:12 AM)
2. Is the AMEX charge card the same as the AMEX Maybank2 Card?
It's different. Both are AMEX but one is a charge card bearing no Maybank logo (pure AMEX) while MBB2 AMEX is a credit card bearing the Maybankard logo.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 7 2012, 09:20 AM)
it does? I read the pdf and also happen to have me Charge Card statement and nothing stated on the 0.5%
Do you still have the AMEX Gold credit card statement ? The one that was the hottest AMEX before the introduction of this MBB2 product. If i'm not mistaken, the information was given by someone using the pure AMEX Gold credit card. I did refer back to my mom's canceled AMEX charge card statement from year 2009 and the was no mention of this 0.5% admin charge either, just the 2.5% from AMEX.

Anyway, one thing for sure is that for all AMEX credit card bearing the Maybankard logo, the total admin fee is 3% (0.5% + 2.5%).

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jan 7 2012, 09:20 AM)
Anyway guys, I have posted here at Post#156 that MBB charged me 1.25% more compared to Visa International's rate.
All the banks seem to charge more than what's stated in the back of the statement (foreign currency admin fee).

Anyway, can you please do all of us a favor by splitting your next overseas payment into two Maybank credit cards ? I mean to pay for the same purchase with your MBB2 VISA/MC (preferably with another MBB VISA credit card) and MBB VI ? So that we can compare the rates and to find out if Maybank is inflating the rate for MBB VI. Just to check if they are sincere in giving out the 5xTP for MBB VI for all payments made in foreign currency.
