What if I link my AMEX to paypal. Is the transaction still get 5x treat points?

Oops, I missed out this point. I tried using AmEx and wanted to pay my Flickr Pro account using it and it was a hooha for me. sweat.gif In short, got charged few times but luckily got all the charges reversed. sweat.gif

In the end, I linked my AmEx to PayPal and paid the Flickr Pro account using PayPal. Hassle free. biggrin.gif
Yes, I got the 5xTP and I purposely waited till weekend to pay it and I got 5% off as well. biggrin.gif
*
any transaction with amex mbk2, after convert to MYR (RM), will get 5x TP.

but then, pls note that conversion fee for mbk2 amex is 2.5% to the converted amount.

My transaction was on the 20th August but only shown on my account on 25th August.

Exchange rate that time will be 3.047. I don't understand this 2.5%, can explain? sweat.gif
*
thats mean the transaction on PayPal is charged on same day (20 August).

2 things about 2.5% here:

1. 5x TP is ± 2.5% cashback (if u take 10k tp to redeem rm50 gst or voucher)

2. 2.5% is also an additional amex fee.

example, on 20 august 2011 the rate for $1 is probably between rm2.97 to rm2.992 (source look between 18 august lowest to 25 august highest).

let say we take it as rm2.9725, if u convert $23, it should be rm68.3675, but with amex, need to + 2.5% so it will be rm70.0766875

urs being charged rm70.08 so it is ± within the range. coz we donno what is exactly rate use by maybank.

Hi all forumers in this thread,

Got a noob question would like to ask you guys

For this Maybankard 2 Gold card, is this means the owner is owning "2" cards?

what i want to say is, if the owner is having this Maybankard 2 Gold card and also another cc from other banks, does this mean the owner has to cancel either one credit card, since there is a new rule that annual income below rm36000 can only allowed to posses 2 credit cards at the same time
thanks
*
hi there.

for income below rm36k/year, the rules is cannot have cards from more than 2 banks, not cards.

the simple example is - u can have cards from maybank and hong leong.

any cards on maybank is ok - maybankard 2 amex + mastercard, maybank visa sony, maybank amex gold credit card, maybank visa flex, maybank visa wave.

any cards on hlb is ok - hlb classic mastercard, hlb visa essential, hlb visa mtv.

but all cards share the credit limit! so if ur CL is rm5k only (2x salary), no need to have till 3-5 cards! sweat.gif
besides, each card need to pay GST! doh.gif

pls note: maybank and maybank islamic is consider as 2 banks.

so let say example if u already have maybank ikhwan petronas and citibank clear, u need to cancel 1 of it before can signup this maybankard 2.

Hi All,
How do we check on the conversion rate on 8th October? I have made some transactions on that day to my AMEX as follow:

US67.19 = RM217.93
*
QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Oct 13 2011, 09:24 AM)
Seems quite high to me around 3.25
Where u made ur transaction? by paypal?
*
err... thats a normal rate if using amex? sweat.gif

refer to bnm, rate on 7 oct is 3.1585 so after + 2.5% amex fee = 3.2374

since Gen-X stated "1.57% to 2.53%", so CP88 rate of 3.2435 is within the rage ~

Added on October 13, 2011, 10:23 amsource: http://www.bnm.gov.my/index.php?ch=12&pg=629&eId=box1

again, rates at bnm website is just for reference.
we dont know exact exchange rate use by maybank ~

QUOTE(shortleg88 @ Oct 16 2011, 08:50 PM)
You think of the savings you get every month more than enough to cover back the GST la  doh.gif

FYI, Maybank2Card just use 10,000 TP to offset the GST (about RM2500 if you swipe with Amex only since 5x TP)

OCBC requires RM10,000 per annum usage which is slightly harder. But if you were to max out your RM50 cash rebate every month most likely you'll be spending that amount too.
*
correction, amex just need to swipe rm2,000 to redeem/cover the gst.

So after only 2 months of using the card, i saw the rm50 Service Tax dated 15/10 being charged. So fast?
*
actually, its toooo late.

thats gst for 1st year la. other bank charged it when the card is issued. but maybank (and hsbc) charged 1-2 months later.

next year, it will be charged on ur month of annivessary. dont expect 1-2 months later ~

redeem on-the-spot rates still same like before. i thought the points lower laugh.gif

for kfc rm30, redeem at maybankard center less 1k points, mcd rm10 less 700 points brows.gif

same goes to carrefour voucher actually, redeem+pos for rm50 is 11k points, but on-the-spot can redeem rm10 for 2k, so total 10k points only. besides me myself prefer voucher in rm10 domination than rm50 smile.gif

*
not 1 day, but 1 hour thumbup.gif and yes the offer still there. u get rm10 starbucks voucher and go back there after 1 hour.

QUOTE(lohmaikai @ Oct 18 2011, 01:17 AM)
Tried to redeem from the treatpoints site, looks complicated with too many things to fill up eg. adress/phone

Called up the 1300 number there and operator did it for me.
Interesting thing is all the while I login my mb2u.com.my to check my treats, i always thought the points were already summed in total.
7k from master and 34k from amex.

She told me GST needs 10k so she will master 7k+3k transfer from amex. Weird cos i thought it was already pooled.
*
deduction of points can be either from just 1 acc (or in ur case, 1 credit card) or multiple acc (saving/current/atm/credit card) combined, as long under 1 IC.

if u redeem online, the combined method will be use ~

QUOTE(CP88 @ Oct 18 2011, 04:42 PM)
Hi bro erry,
Even though you have max out the RM50/month rebates, the 2.5% admin fee will also be weighed back by the 5x TP(~2.5%). In other words from the transaction above,

$23 = RM68.3675 + 2.5% (admin fee) =rm70.0766875
Rm70.0766875 - 2.5% (5X TP) = RM68.3675

hmm.gif

Correct me if I am wrong.  notworthy.gif
*
for me, i dont want to make calculation of 5TP = 2.5%

coz u can only redeem TP with certain amount.

Can we still get TP when we do Balance Transfer from other bank's card?

Also, if we are already serving IPP on the other bank card, can we BT them as well?
*
QUOTE(gerrardling @ Oct 18 2011, 10:42 PM)
No TP for BT. the min amount to BT is 1k if you want to transfer IPP balance to other bank
*
1. Yes no TP.

2. Check with ur current bank for early settlement penalty/fee for the IPP.

3. Some bank received amount BT to offset current statement only, not IPP.

1 of them is CIMB.
Let say u have CIMB statement balance rm3k and IPP still have rm2k.
if u do rm5k BT to MBB, CIMB will take rm3k to clear ur statement balance only, and rm2k for advanced payment, but ur IPP will still remain rm2k.
ur next bill will still have monthly payment for IPP but will be clear automatically by the rm2k carry fwd amount (if u didnt swipe anything else), this will continue till the IPP is finished.

thanks gerrardling and erry, u guys are fast~~

that means if I get to BT my other bank's IPP to MBB, I will lose the benefit that I current have for the future monthly payments, e.g - points or cash rebate with the bank.

Anyway, good to know about it.
*
ur welcome.

yes u r correct about the points.

but the most important thing is the IPP early settlement penalty fee u need to pay.

some bank charged rm50, some rm100 sweat.gif

what is MSOS system?

arrrghhhh....the reason why i'm willing to apply for this card is that the agent told me in phone conversation that i can go to maybank branch office and ask for PIN from them. that way for online transaction, they will need me to key in the PIN before the payment is made.

the reason i asked this in the conversation, is that i remember there's one incident here in lyn that the guy posted his amex card front part and ppl can used it for online transaction straightaway..

i tot they updated their system to be more secure already  mad.gif
*
simple explanation for MSOS is, u will received PIN on your mobilephone, enter the PIN at the website to proceed the payment.
same as TAC method to pay/transfer onl.
but only for visa and master.

AMEX dont have any security sweat.gif

for ask PIN at maybank branch office, i believed the agent means PIN to apply maybank2u blush.gif

not available to AMEX, as you've said...which is a sad thing...i cant believe AMEX dun implement any security on the online transaction, not even a simple PIN like ATM... this is sad...
*
but so far amex cs is so fast call to make verification. if u didnt perform the transaction, just said no.

also got website that add security for amex, read my post #9 at 1st page of this thread smile.gif

would they call and verify for amount like rm40-50? i'm a bit skeptical about that....
this can be solved if they implemented the security in the 1st place  sad.gif

yes its provided by the website, not by amex sweat.gif

err agree with u, maybe they wont verify transaction with amount like that.

if u trust the website, then no need to worry lah smile.gif
