The card is accepted at places that accept VISA.

Why Maybannk and Pblic bank? (sry just curious) is it CIMB debit good? coz my dad say the CIMB youth or something something
People have experienced much less problem using debit card from Maybank and Public Bank. CIMB Bank debit MasterCard cannot be used for online transaction. You'll want to avoid this card if you might use your card online.

Can PBB D2D used to purchase Eva Air flight ticket? Previously I asked, they say must credit card and can't debit card? Have anyone tried other than MAS, Airasia...
Have you tried it yourself ? It shouldn't be a problem. There is however, one airline that is blocking the use of debit card to pay for their ticket through their website but i don't remember which airline is that already but i am pretty sure it's not EVA Air.

By the way, who told you that you must use a credit card ? EVA Air staff ? Sometimes some people don't know much about debit card. My advice is that you give it a try smile.gif

May i ask where are you going to fly to ? KL to Taipei ? If you are travelling in Economy Class, make sure you reserve a seat in the Evergreen Deluxe cabin. EVA Air is currently flying the Boeing 747-400Mixed Configuration to KL and this aircraft type has a big Evergeen Deluxe cabin and it is sold as Economy Class smile.gif Evergreen Deluxe is a Premium Economy Class cabin and it comes with wider seat and features more legroom thumbup.gif

Actually Bank card number/ credit card number is the number that appear on your card that you holding... Usually there will be a number appear on the card.... If you using the Debit card (you can use as credit card and the number that appear are same as credit card).... So far I heard is CIMB still cant have any online transaction but that is few month ago....
CIMB e.MasterCard can be used online but not the new CIMB debit MasterCard that was just introduced late last year.

QUOTE(alexwsk @ Mar 3 2012, 09:58 AM)
haha, just as i thought
go to the bank and ask them to change the debit card to non annual fee/non unlimited withdrawal option, but remember that you can withdraw from ATM for free for 4 times a month, after that it will be charge RM0.50 each
The RM0.50 penalty for excess withdrawal will be automatically waived if your balance is not less than RM5,000 when the excess withdrawal occurs smile.gif

I've read through some of the posts, saying that in order to waive the annual fees for PBB Esso Mobil Debit card, you need to swipe at least once a month. But I visited their website just now, it is stated

"Annual card fee waiver for life without any conditions."

Or maybe the policy has changed since so many competitors out there?
PBB ESSO VISA debit card has always been annual fee free.

Hi...anyone here got Maybank VISA debit card?
Do you all got charged RM8 for the annual fee?
I know if withdrawal less than 4 times per month is free.
When I open the account I wasn't asked for the option either, but suddenly got charged for the annual fee, anyone here experience the same?
*
You have to specifically ask for the no annual fee option. Go to your account holding branch and ask them to change it to the no annual fee option and you won't be charged RM8 again from next year onwards.

Can i use Maybank Visa debit electron to sign mobile phone contract? or other contract?
*
1. Maybank doesn't offer VISA debit Electron
2. They only offer a regular ATM card, VISA debit card, MU VISA debit card and debit MasterCard
3. No. You can't sign up for a mobile phone plan with your debit card. You need a credit card for that. You may however, set up a standing instruction to debit your bill directly from your Maybank savings/current account every month.

Hi..

I would like to make a new debit card to be used to top up paypal and to purchase online. Is there any charges using debit card impose by the bank for topping up to paypal account and for any online transactions ?
Just the usual 0.5% - 2.5% admin charge for all overseas transaction. Your current debit/credit card is charged the same thing too.

Which bank is best for debit card. I'm using al-rajhi and cimb.
- Maybank Cherry VISA debit card
- Maybank Manchester United VISA debit card
- Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card
- Public Bank ESSO Visa debit card

If you currently have a Maybank savings or current account but is using the yellow ATM card, you can just change your current yellow ATM card to the Maybank Cherry VISA debit card or Maybank Manchester United VISA debit card. There is a one-time charge of RM12 for the switch.

Alternatively, you can open a Public Bank savings account and they will issue you a Day2Day VISA debit card on the spot. Or you can apply for the Public Bank ESSO VISA debit card at any Public Bank branch and this PBB ESSO VISA debit card doesn't have annual fee and you have to wait 2-3 weeks before you get the card.

In the meantime, you may want to refer to THIS thread.

Hi..

I have applied for Public bank debit card and got it already after all of your recommendations. I have verified paypal using the day2go card and it charged rm 10. When I login to PB online banking, it doesn't show there. How to find the code to verify our paypal account ?
*
You probably have to wait a few days until the transaction is posted into your account.

guys...whats the difference between maybank cherry debit card and the manchester united debit card?

which is better?

MBB MY VISA debit card is definitely better. For instance, you get 1TP for every RM2 spent on the MBB MU VISA debit card whereas MBB Cherry VISA debit card gives you only 1TP for every RM3 charged to the card. Besides that, you may get 5TP on those days MU wins a match biggrin.gif

Like I mentioned in another thread, was in Australia and got myself a few Debit Cards.

To read my standard long winded article - click below link to see what I have to say about Melbourne and the conversion rate between withdrawing cash with my Malaysia Citibank Debit Card at Citibank ATM in Australia versus transferring funds with Citibank Global Fund Transfer.

Melbourne Victoria Australia - The World's Most Liveable City

or click below link to go to my new blog and see my Australia Debit Cards. Too bad for me I did not get an ANZ Debit Card because I needed to deposit and maintain a "substantial" sum to get the monthly fees waived.

Free Visa and MasterCard Debit Cards from Australia Banks.

Bro, moved your post to this debit card thread because it's all about debit card smile.gif

Anyway, did they ask you why you wanted to open an account at their banks ? Or you have an Australia PR ? Do remind me when you posted a picture of your yet-to-arrive NAB VISA debit card into your blog. I hope you did tell the CS what color you'd like for your NAB VISA debit card because there is one pink one and it looks 'bleh'. I have seen the black and red ones and both are so nicely designed biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, NAB is the only Australian bank that offers a truly fee free bank account with absolute no condition, as far as i am concerned. They used to charge some fees too but they changed this 2 or 3 years ago. Thought i needed to open an Aussie bank account then, so i did some comparisons. The rest of the big 3 Aussie banks all have minimum deposit or minimum balance to waive the account maintenance fee.

Bro, I just went in and said I want open Day to Day account smile.gif Like I mentioned, foreigners are subjected to freaking high withholding tax, so day to day account with 0% is fine with me.
Thanks. Might do the same too next time i go to Australia and will use my cousin's home address as my correspondence address biggrin.gif

By the way, when you have opened a HSBC Premier account here in Malaysia and successfully set up your HSBC Australia Premier account, try to transfer your money from HSBC Malaysia to HSBC Australia through Global Transfer and see how's the exchange rate like. The limit for HSBC Premier Global Transfer is USD100,000/day.

Wah, USD100K, need BNM approval first?
*
I was informed that you don't. And this HSBC Global Transfer is instant too. The only catch is that it must be done during banking hours (both countries). Otherwise your money will only be credited the next banking day.

Take Singapore for example. Let say you want to transfer your money from HSBC Malaysia to HSBC Singapore and need to money to be credited right away into your HSBC Singapore account, you have to make sure it is not a public holiday in either country and it is not yet passed the banking hours (say 9.30am - 4pm). 9.30am - 4pm is the banking hours for HSBC in Malaysia. Banking hours for HSBC Singapore is 9.30am - 3.30pm every weekdays, if my memory serves me correctly.

HSBC Premier has a preferential rate and you won't be able to see this in their online banking system. Rest assured that the final exchange rate will be a bit better than the rate quoted to you on their online banking system smile.gif

Any RHB debit card users? i'm confused between RHB Cash Connect Visa Debit Cards and My Cash-i Visa Debit Cards. Whats the differences between this two? Thanks smile.gif
*
RHB Cash Connect VISA debit card = issued by RHB Bank
RHB Cash-i VISA debit card = issued by RHB Islamic Bank

Basically, RHB Cash-i VISA debit card is linked to your Islamic Savings or Current Account at RHB Islamic Bank and it is a shariah compliant product. As it is a shariah compliant product, you may encounter some problems such as card being rejected by the system when you use it at some non-Halal places.
