OCBC Bank debit MasterCard now too claims to have zero bank foreign exchange mark-up. Anyway, I’m still likely to continue to use BigPay Prepaid MasterCard and Merchantrade Money VISA Prepaid Card when spending overseas as both my OCBC Bank had been hit with fraud before. Nothing happened to my OCBC Bank debit MasterCard as the card retail purchase function is disabled.

This looks similar to BigPay MasterCard. No credit card top-up though. |

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Sep 23 2020, 12:06 PM) The account features are exactly the same as OCBC Nuon account. And OCBC Nuon previously was known as Frank. |

It was said that if we cancel OCBC debit card, we are going to lose access to instant transfer on OCBC online banking too. Does anyone know if this is still the case ?

QUOTE(weejin2000 @ Sep 26 2020, 06:56 PM) I have an OCBC 360 account without debit card for few years already ( to save on RM8 annually). Intially (from 201x- 2019), I cannot do instant transfer. From last year onward, I can instant transfer already. I did not do anything to enable the instant transfer. Hope this help. Great to know that. Thanks a lot for the information. |

QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Oct 17 2020, 04:37 PM) The process in opening a savings account in BOC is actually pretty smooth though, service is great too, in case if anyone is interested. Agreed. Opening an account at Bank of China is quite straightforward. No funny thing like please give your employment letter, or payslip and come back later after you’ve received a call. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 17 2020, 11:25 PM) I used to have. I see. Was the account opening process at ICBC tedious ? Any supporting documents required ?Last time I applied ICBC instead of BOC because interbank transfer didn't work for BOC that time. Applied UnionPay for my work assignments in China. These days I just stick to Alipay and WeChat Pay whenever in China. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 18 2020, 03:13 AM) No. It wasn't. Just my NRIC but the online banking was PITA back then as it used token and browser with certificate, so need to install this and that. One of the reasons why I abandoned it. It was very secure but troublesome to use as I cannot simply login using other devices if certificate wasn't installed on that device. That was 6-7 years ago. Now not sure if it has improved. Great to know. Thanks for sharing your experience.QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 18 2020, 03:13 AM) It’s using a dedicated security device which is needed every time you want to login. And they do support instant transfer too. For some reason this feature isn’t published anywhere but I had tried it and it worked. Fund was credited instantly. That was from BOC to OCBC. But a number of banks still don’t support instant transfer to BOC. Layout of BOC online banking is still like from 10 years ago though lol |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 18 2020, 12:27 PM) Now it really sounds like ICBC too. The size is about the same as the old HSBC security device.Yes, ICBC site looks like from 10 years too. QUOTE(xperiaDROID @ Oct 18 2020, 01:33 PM) That's what I don't like about BOC lol, that e-token security device is needed for certain things, and the device needs to be replaced like every few years, mine is until 2023 though. Yes indeed. Luckily it’s still not my primary bank so it’s okay. I just do instant transfer twice to thrice a year to my BOC account now every year just to prevent it from going dormant. And now I am thinking to temporarily cancel my BOC UnionPay debit card until we can travel again, so to save RM8 a year hahaHopefully things will change by then. They actually released Instant Transfer this year though if I'm not wrong, which is more convenient, luckily the banks that I use support Instant Transfer to BOC so I don't have to purposely go to Menara OSK in KL just to use CDM machine. Will pay ICBC a visit when this pandemic situation gets better hopefully. And anyone can share your experience with account opening at Citibank ? Because many years ago Citibank Jalan Ampang requested for payslips too. But someone shared that’s not required at Citibank Penang branch. Anyone else, preferably those staying in Klang Valley can share your experience with account opening service ? Still need for them to mail out your debit card ? |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 18 2020, 08:59 PM) Yeah, so same size as ICBC. Last time when I wanted to open Citibank, even payslip wasn't enough. Need to commit quite a substantial amount for account opening, also Menara Citibank. Now not sure and I wanna open one too. QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ Oct 19 2020, 07:37 AM) QUOTE(hakkai0810 @ Oct 20 2020, 08:19 PM) Open my accelerate saving account last year December at jalan ampang branch. For me need to prepare quite some documentation. 1) 3mth payslip 2) 3mth salary crediting bank statement 3) employment letter In my experience, Its not a very pleasant exp as they questioned me like i dont deserve to be their banking customer You can get the debit card on the spot. QUOTE(ckweng @ Oct 20 2020, 10:07 PM) The outfit that we wear definitely makes a difference. Last time I wore shorts and sandals to Jln Ampang hq branch to apply for bank account with debit card and got turned down by CS and told to bring additional supporting docs. Thanks for the input guys. Appreciate it I brought the docs the next trip after work with formal business attire. I didn't even mention the docs and they straightaway let me open an account. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Mar 5 2021, 12:49 PM) It has been two years since I have PBB debit card and savings account, never got charged with RM 8 (unless my memory fails). The officer told me there is BSA and if I don't opt for RM 8 yearly AF, then I will have ATM charges after x no. of ATM withdrawal. Since I never do ATM withdrawal, so I told her to go ahead with just BSA. QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ Mar 5 2021, 12:52 PM) My saving account with Public Bank is BSA w/o fee. Second this. I had non-fee BSA with Public Bank and Hong Leong Bank. Both did not charge annual fee for their ATM/debit cards. If my memory is strong, I don't think that I have been for the annual fee. It's better to do some housekeeping and monitor for the unnecessary fee being charged by the bank. QUOTE(svefz @ Mar 5 2021, 05:58 PM) No issue with PBB, Citibank, UOB and HLB BSA. For Maybank it's possible to opt for annual fee free debit card for non-BSA account too. Just that you'll be limited to 4 free withdrawals in a month. But over threshold fee will still be automatically waived if your account balance at time of withdrawal is at least RM5,000, or when you make a lumpsum single withdrawal of RM1,500 or more.Who want to pay annual fee just pay it. sharing my experience, Maybank allows me switched to non-fee BSA without open a new account. But it is long time ago This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Mar 5 2021, 10:40 PM |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Mar 6 2021, 02:49 AM) Honestly, I don’t recall MBB charges me RM 8 anymore after I changed to PIN & Pay card few years ago or I didn’t notice such charges. If you're on the non-fee option even for regular Maybank savings account, then you will not see the annual fee charged to your account. When will banks charge us? Same like CC concept? The day we opened our SA? If you're on the unrestricted unlimited withdrawals option, of which the fee is RM8 per annum, then you'll be charged upon card issuance and subsequently on the anniversary date. QUOTE(Human Nature @ Mar 5 2021, 10:57 PM) Nice discussion going on on the fee. Any one know why the fee for CIMB is almost double than others at RM15 yearly? Yes. It is indeed the highest in town. Before they adopted debit MasterCard, their ATM card annual fee was RM8 too just like most other banks. RHB Bank actually had the highest debit card annual fee. The already phased out debit card (the one with the cut shaped) had an annual fee of RM20. Human Nature liked this post

QUOTE(contestchris @ Mar 14 2021, 07:14 PM) Guys i have a Maybank Savings Account-i and OCBC 360 account. I pay RM8 annual fees for both. Yes, Both are true.I called Maybank and they say I can walk in to any branch to change to a “free” version with limited withdrawals. I am okay with this. However, OCBC says no such options exist. The best I can do is cancel the debit card entirely. Are both the above true? The current Maybank Savings Account-i is actually a regular Maybank Islamic savings account and if you do not want to pay annual fee for the debit card, you'll only get 4 free ATM withdrawals every month. However, 5th and above withdrawal will be automatically waived provided you have at least RM5000 in your Maybank savings account-i at time of withdrawal, or you make RM1500 of cash withdrawal in a single withdrawal. QUOTE(contestchris @ Mar 14 2021, 07:14 PM) Also, I need to open RHB and CIMB savings account to service car and housing loans. Do both banks have a basic savings account with no annual fees? They both do as i have no-fee Basic Savings Account from the two banks mentioned above. Do make sure you are very clear about it when opening the account though. |

I just want to go branch at afternoon because I dont want wake up early just for that 2. Went yesterday. No appointment needed. This however, is not in KV. I don’t know if thing is different in KV. 3. Went to Public Bank Petaling Street twice last year. They weren’t using QMS. RHB Bank is the one using QMS. And yes, it’s a stupid app. |
