Nope, was nvr told about the different upholstery material selection.
I also have problem with leather sofa before. 2 years ago I bought one set and it sank. Tear off the bottom cloth and saw the elastic band all stretch out.

Another set about 5 years ago, choose colour and then the leather comes with different feel and quality. Both shop don't know where they are now. sad.gif

Every experience makes a person smarter. Learning from other people experience is less costly. Having said that, I also kena before on sofa a long time ago. smile.gif

Sure is best to learn from other people experience.

That is the purpose of the forum like this. Certainly helps me a lot. And your input is invaluable to me choosing the right sofa. So far so good. smile.gif

I believe this was shared somewhere before about sofa. But no harm putting it here.

Leren Leather, Casa Leather are names used in certain sofa and are not leather but looks like and to a certain feel like leather.

Also, leather bond is not leather but uses scrap leather rebonded as the base.

Split leather is leather but not Top Grain. Here's is the dangerous part, it can be called bovine leather in general.

I've been there. Bought my sofa and dining chairs there.

So far so good.

Worth the trip. I learn about sofa construction and leather too. smile.gif Do not seem to have hard pushy salespeople. smile.gif

Good luck to your hunt.

I think Leren is used mainly by one retailer (not sure here?) but Casa leather seem to be widespread. So better be careful. Buyer just need to know what you are paying for.

Some retailers when you ask them, they tell you the truth but some just say it is some form of leather. This is the problem as it is a trade name and not wrong other than a case of misrepresentation. smile.gif
