Tested 70-200 VRII on D7000 yesterday. It definitely a lovely lens but kinda too tele on APS-C. Will be much exciting on FX for sure biggrin.gif
*
A little too "not tele" on FX in my opinion, especially when the VRII has breathing issue at tele end on MFD.

Wide open? Awesome bokeh  cry.gif

Btw, which is the best 50mm 1.4? Nikkor or Sigma? 80-200 is just too heavy for me right now. Moving all the time doh.gif
*
Wide open biggrin.gif

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Sep 26 2011, 06:38 AM)
bokeh is quite nice, somehow most of the slr lenses has LoCA when comes to big wide open.
*
It has improved since the f/1.4D version, the older brother had worse CA issue :S.

I tried the 70-300 VC, its pretty good actually. Focusing isn't that slow and VC works pretty well. Image quality is alright for a third party, not sure how does it compare to the Nikkor.

Tamron don't have 17-55 range, they only have 17-50. When 17-55 is mentioned, its usually Nikkor (or Canon tongue.gif)

Try the online shops such as Shashinki or Yamiya for it.

D5100 has vari angle LCD too tongue.gif, I would say it is more of a D5100-ish class haha.

The f/4 is about time.
I bought lenses that were already 10 years old. Now it's already close to 15 years old.
Nice.  rclxms.gif Could not join some of my friends down in Malacca last weekend as I was in Singapore instead.
60D is 1.6x crop body.
You should just abandon the idea of getting an FX body and get whatever Nokia replaces the N8.
Not bad. Is this stitched? I miss HK.
*
Your friends came to Malacca for the same event? blink.gif

For filters, I only trust Hoya HD and B+W XS-Pro.

Well, for me Hoya HD seems to be the best buy... XS-Pro is pricey.. especially their CPL =/

It's the coating I'm after. If you learn up on the history books, it is Zeiss who invented and pioneered the multi-coating technology. It's comparable to Hoya HD and B+W, but some have said that the Zeiss T* coating is better than the Hoya HD by a tiny bit (I have no idea how they tested that), and it's smudge-resistant as well, making cleaning much easier.
*
True, Zeiss pioneered many stuffs. But if they don't continue to come out with new inventions, then the rest will overtake soon or maybe already now. Back then I really worship Zeiss lens, but after trying out a few myself found them isn't that worth 'worshiping' already. Also doubting how much 'better' or how 'good' is the Zeiss filter now.

Added on September 29, 2011, 10:31 pmSome old review, but I find them pretty good since it is all done in a well controlled environment.

http://www.lenstip.com/120.1-article-UV_fi...supplement.html

Well, you get the rough idea. Not all filters nor the newer ones are in though.

i hate that review. its wrong in a way. the UV filter scoring should be taken off as today digital sensor has no affect from UV. when that taken off, its obviously the B+W light transmission will boost the point for B+W pawning hoya. not to mention B+W coating has way to reduce haze in the air where Hoya tak ada. and B+W is by a company that make glass as long as zeiss and leica.

i hate that review because many hoya fanboys uses it to boost their ego. tongue.gif
*
Isn't haze --> UV sorta related?

Anyways the B+W compared is the old one, they didn't take in account for the XS-Pro. Or XS-Pro nano or something... I have both Hoya HD and B+W XS-Pro (non nano), can't exactly see the differences actually. Only main differences I notice is... XS-Pro is harder to clean cry.gif , which is why I use Hoya HD on my event lens 70200 and 1635, and XS-Pro on my 85mm prime biggrin.gif

It's said that the Nano version will be easier to clean, it is?

My box looks like this.

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Sep 30 2011, 04:16 PM)
The Nano-coat version come in latter version / batch replacing the previous one. When I bought my 77mm XS-Pro UV, M'sia still yet to has Nano-coat version stock. Anyway, from what I could sum up from their official website, it seems that the Nano-coat only helps in easier cleaning whilst the rest performance remained the same.

Seriously... you wash the filter with soap? shocking.gif

It could be possible because when scrubbing the filter, possibly there would be rough particle which may scratch it. That's why when using LENSPEN to clean the filter, 1st step is to use the brush to sweep away any particles on the filter before scrubbing it with the carbon tip. Same goes with car, we spray water from top down to wash away rough particles before starting to scrub with soap otherwise it may scratch the car.
*
When did you bought yours ah?

My filters so far no scratches yet... HD x2 and XS-Pro x1...
