because at such high MP it is rather hard to make it fast shutter speed.
even canon able to push, they can make higher with their 1dsmark3 which is currently 5fps @ 21mpĀ
very fast already at such high pixel countĀ

but 1ds mk3 is a 3yr old technology.
the coming soon 5d mk3 which is 24mp supposedly can do 6fps.
u cant say just cos high mp, the fps cant get higher...else when D4 come out, and the fps isnt high, then how many pros u think will actually start using it especially with olympics 2012 coming round?

I'm afraid you got that one slightly wrong. the D3 has a built-in battery grip, shoots at 9fps in FX mode and 11fps in DX crop mode.
and I don't think Nikon is turning away from the market. rather, they'll try/follow a new one. there's a lot of hype about video functions in DSLRs, and seems like the 5D mark III would be aimed at those who crave for (even) better movie facilities. and so, the D800 will follow. I'm guessing that there will be a new segment for full frame cameras with lower resolutions and more basic video functions.
oops, mislook that part.
but was just pointing out the fact that its not logical for nikon to suddenly have a drop in fps speed with their newer flagship model, especially with big sporting events round the corner.
and how low resolution for full frame cameras?
considering the supposed D800 is already quite high, it wont be logical for a flagship model to have anything lower...considering that both D700 and D3 share the same mp count...and most likely the D800 / D4 will also share the same sensor.
D3x of cos is another story
